Thanks Star (and Star's son).

Here's the definition I pulled off Wikipedia:

Fantasy sport
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A fantasy sport (also known as rotisserie, roto, or fairy-tale sport; or owner simulation) is a game where fantasy owners build a team that competes against other fantasy owners based on the statistics generated by individual players or teams of a professional sport. Probably the most common variant converts statistical performance into points that are compiled and totaled according to a roster selected by a manager that makes up a fantasy team. These point systems are typically simple enough to be manually calculated by a "league commissioner." More complex variants use computer modeling of actual games based on statistical input generated by professional sports. In fantasy sports there is the ability to trade, cut, and sign players, like a real sports owner.

It's estimated by the Fantasy Sports Trade Association that 16 million adults in the U.S., age 18 to 55, play fantasy sports. Fantasy sports is also popular throughout the world with leagues for football, cricket and other non-U.S. based sports.

It sounds complicated to me!

I am in a fantasy football league. It isn't really that complicated, you just have to know your sport and the players. It takes time and research before the "draft" to line up your team.

They actually hold a draft party and you choose your players. Just like in real sports, someone may get your player, but they may be willing to trade him to you for a price.

You must watch the games and keep up every week. Therefore, it isn't for the casual fan. It is a lot of fun though. I am more of a football nut than my hubby.

My husband has been in a fantasy football league since way before I met him 12 1/2 years ago. It's all getting ready to start up again and I'm dreading it!

He was the commissioner for a couple of years and that was terrible. We could never do anything on Wednesday evenings because he had to call everybody individually to see if they wanted to add or drop players, etc. Everybody had to set up their teams for the week by Sunday morning and one guy who didn't have a computer called our house drunk once or twice at about 3:00 in the morning to give my husband his team. All I can say is he's lucky I let the answering maching pick up because I would have told him off big time if I had answered the phone.

Even though my husband is no longer the commissioner I still get aggrivated because he can't just sit and watch one game. He's got to flip the channel between all the games to check on all of his players and the players of whoever he's up against. It's annoying when we are getting ready to go somewhere on the weekend because I have a hard time getting him away from the tv. He'll actually be walking towards the door with the remote in his hand still flipping channels or watching the ticker tape at the bottom of ESPN News to see all the stats. I'm always hearing "just give me 3 more minutes to see if so and so scored and as soon as I find out we can leave."

Now we'll have: golf on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; baseball (which I actually enjoy) whenever the Yankees are on; pro football on Sunday and Monday, and later in the season on Thursday too; and college football on Thursday and Saturday. I think that's about all. Oh, wait... he'll probably be playing golf too on Saturday's or Sunday's a few times a month as well as going to an occasional college football game.

LOL, I guess I am the odd gal out. I love my sports and luckily, my hubby does too. However, I am a little more fanatic about my football than he is. I get so depressed after the Super Bowl!

It's not that I hate sports, but when that's all that's ever on tv I just get tired of it. It just seems like we're always watching the Golf Channel, ESPN, ESPN News, ESPN2 or ESPN Classic. My hubby will sit and watch old golf tournaments and old football games if there is nothing else on. I'm always asking him "This isn't live is it? You've already seen this like 10 times haven't you???"

As far as football season goes, my hubby isn't into preseason games much at all. Even during the regular season I wouldn't mind if he just had one or two favorite teams that he liked to watch, but it's not like that. I can't even sit down and start watching with him because he flips around so much. I'm sure I could get into it more if he was just watching one game at a time.

Oh, and I'm sure he'll eventually get Madden 2008 and then he'll be in our bedroom playing XBox for hours on end.

I know what you are saying. Too much of a good thing, right? He is lucky you are tolerant. I am not a spectator sports fan at all, so I would be extremely annoyed! Was he like this before you got married?
