Default Have you seen Journey to the Center of the Earth?

I was wondering if anyone has seen Journey to the Center of the Earth? My 5 year old would really like to see it. He asked me to take him when it was in the theater but I was unsure because it is rated PG. Now it is out on DVD and he is asking to see it again. If anyone has seen it, I would love to hear your opinion. My son is not easily scared, but I am concerned about violence, language, and the general content. Thanks!

We want to see it, but Blockbuster was out of them this weekend. When we do, I'll let you know. Hopefully, someone else will have seen it and posted a response before then.

Keep in mind that I do not have children so I may not be the best judge...but from watching the movie, it clearly gets it's PG rating because of some scary parts...it's actiony but not in what I would say is "violent" action...more adventure action if that makes sense...i do not see language as being inappropriate for a 5 year old at all...
I would say overall having seen it that if your son doesn't get scared real easily that it is appropriate...
Another heads up too...they did release a special edition version of this...it has a PG-13 rating where they added some "bloody" scenes...so be aware of that too...

maybe others have some more insight too

Thanks for the info! I was not aware that there were two versions. I will keep that in mind if I end up letting him watch it.

I have four kids 8,6, almost 4 and almost 2 and we all watched it together. It has some scary parts but as for language I don't recall any cuss words. As for violence there really isn't much besides them defending themselves against the fly trap plants and the dinosaur and a few other things. I am super picky about what I let them watch because my almost four year old will remember a movie forever the scenes the lines everything. We actually just watched it again the other day. So there is my two cents I hope it helps

ps
I enjoyed the movie too.

Thanks for your opinion. At this point I think I'll let him watch it if I can make it to the video store to get it!

My husband and I watched it in a theater in 3D and we thought it was a good movie. The film has some scary scenes which are heightened by the 3D effects. Kids under 10 might find this film too scary, esp. because of the 3D. Hope this helps.
