Unhappy Horrible day and it's only 10:20am

So my mom called me this morning (earlier then I usally talk to her). She sounded horrible. She said she didnt' know who to tell me what she needed to say. I was sure it was going to be about my grandma who will celebrate he 93 brithday in just a few weeks. I told her to jsut say it. I was shock when she told me that my brother was dead. (He's my step-brother but my parents have been together sinceh e was 2 and was the closest thing to a sibling I ever had.) From what my mom said was skate boarding and fell and hit his head. Mom doesn't think that he had a heldmet on cause he didn't really wear it. My hear t is broken. He was a great kid and I loved him. After hearing this shocking news I couldn't even get words out. I know my mom felt so bad that she had to call and tell me this horrible news in the morning. I think the first I said to her was "How I'm I supposed to tell Steven?" My mom said she didn't know. Steven LOVED his uncle Riley. Uncle Riley was like a god in Steven's eyes. I was amazed that Uncle Riley could ride a dirt bike and skate board. I tried my best to tell Steven what happened and how we alway need to wear our helemts but I dont' know that he really understood me. He said he's in heaven with Grandpa Steve and they can see us from their house now casue uncle Riley's with Grandpa in his house now. From what my mom said the Dr that she spoke with said he probably died on impact. Thanks god he didn't have to suffer.
I guess all that can be said it he died doing something he truely loved and who could ask for more in death? But really who dies while skate boarding? I can't even grasp what happened. My eyes are so puffy from crying I'm amazed I can even see out ofr them.

I'm probably won't be on here much in the next week or so since I have to help my parent plan the service and what not.

I'm so sorry! That is so tough and what your mom must be going through, I cannot even imagine. Yes he died doing something he loved to do, believe it or not, more people die this way than you would ever think. I saw one almost happen right here where I live, we have speed bumps here in the manufactured home park where I live, a very tall guy without a helmet flew off that skateboard when he hit the speed bump, thankfully he was ok, but it sure shook him up! I will keep your family in my prayers.

Kara~ I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers! He died doing something that he loved and also teaching a lesson to his nephew. By teaching him to always wear a helmet, he could save his life someday... So sorry for your loss!!!

I am so sorry to hear this. It is truely sad that something like this happens to someone when others can do so many stupid things on their skateboard and it doesn't happen to them. But like you said atleast he was doing something he loved and was happy when it happened and he didn't suffer. Take all the time you need dear, don't rush the time you are going to spend with your family even though it is a sad time. Hope your son understands and doesn't get upset about it to much. I hope the best for you and your family and will be thinking out you!
