U.S. NHTSA recall press release on six different models of 2008 Fleetwood motor homes for inverter overheating--free inspection and replacement of inverter at Fleetwood dealers:

Potential Number Of Units Affected : 376
Summary:
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH A FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR (FET) BOARD BUILT BY MAGNUM ENERGY, INC., THE CIRCUITRY INSIDE CERTAIN INVERTERS CAN CAUSE AN INOPERATIVE CONDITION RESULTING IN OVERHEATING OF THE INVERTER.
Consequence:
OVERHEATING OF THE INVERTER MAY RESULT IN A POTENTIAL FIRE.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE INVERTER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 18, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FLEETWOOD AT 1-800-509-3418.

No problem. If any of our readers have laid out the big bucks for a motor home, and it has a recall, they sure deserve to know. Also, for those of us that don't have a motor home, it gives us a heads up on which ones to avoid driving nearby on the road if it's a steering problem

...or, the one that the transmission shifts when the owner receives a cell phone call....

...or, the one that the slide out operates and the side room extends out while they are driving the motor home down the road... Can you imagine explaining that one to police and insurance reps, either the motor home driver or the other drivers involved in the accident?
