I grew up by a little town called middlefield ,OH there are still a large community there. Here in n.e. mo there has always been a small community but in the last few years new people have moved in.
Yes they are a great people My favorite store is the amish store I used to pass it daily but moved about 8 years ago now we go down about once a month its like 25 miles away now.I buy all my spices and bulk food there. And they do it all with no electric.

I live in a small town in Indiana, a mean really small town. Our post office is actually someones house. We don't have a gas station. One church where practically everyone goes. And one restraunt that just opened.
I did live in Springfield Ohio for a couple years when I was a teenager.

I love the Amish Markets, they make such beautiful things. I go for the food.:D So good. I love how "out of towners" think that we talk funny.
You know things like
"Throw the cow over the fence some hay" Makes sense to me!!!:p
Not to mention that we eat strange food. Apple butter on cottage cheese. Sounds Normal to me.

Aloha Lisa,
Ur question to where are we from?
Grew up in southern California in the San Bernardino mountains. Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear. I was so blessed to have grew up during the "wonder years" when it was safe to go walking alone at any hour of the day or night.
Now due to a bad marriage (wanted to get far far away hehee) I moved to Hawaii! Have been living here for thirty years as of Nov of this year. I am as close to heaven as a person can get! *wink* And nooooooo I am no where close to where the "tourist" are all shown. lol
Btw lower down I noticed there is a Carol.... Well Hello Carol!! I noticed that your from Big Bear. They are so right, what a small world it is eh?
Okay ladies and gentlemen, So very nice to met each and everyone of you. Hope to be able to hop on the computer while you are online also. But have found this to always be a problem as for the time zone thing. Grrrrowls it so suxs! lol
Have a wonderful Sunday and may we all remember the true meaning of Monday!

Is that Chicago? I was born in Chicago many moons ago, moved to California when I was just 12, our last addy in Chicago was on Lawndale Ave, which crossed Chicago Blvd, which was also near Polaski Blvd. I use to go swimming at Humbolt Park, I am sure the area has changed and may not be a safe neighborhood anymore. I attended Ryerson Public School, and I was there when the school Our Lady Of the Angels burnt down.

I don't know that I know where it is. It may be one of towns because of its name I've heard it on the news. The first thought was oh you live in a normal community! so it was probably a weatherman tthey like to pick out interesting towns to put on the weather map.
We have St.Patrick,MO and they offer a special stamped envelope on st. patsday Its not to far away but I've never went. but several do take a ride that day!

Oh I hope you don't think you need any frequent Tryer Miles to enter a contest, we don't have contest's that cost any of your Miles, every so often (you have to check) you can cash in your miles, either 1,000 or 5,000 and get some small free gift, now don't hold your breath, the prizes are far and few in between, lol just go to the top of the home page where it says earn tryer miles, and put in your pass word and you will see how many points you have and what is available, any ? just ask, someone will help you here, nice to meet you! We all have been here for various times, I have been a member since 2001, long before this forum. and finally yes, we do get most of the samples that we sign up for, some take longer to get than others.

I think the administrators must think we're a bunch of perverts on here. LOL Seriously though, from what I have seen, anytime there is a word that could be used or thought of as a bad word, even when it is part of another word, it is replaced by asterisks.

When the site was set up.They put in a list of "bad words".The computors don't know what word your using so it automatically edits any of the forbidden words unfortunately that makes some normal words look bad if it has certain spellings in it. I hope this makes sense! :) :)

Ok where it says edit avatar...after it lists all the other ones that SS offers at the bottom it should say something like this:
Custom Avatar
If you have a custom avatar and want to keep it as it is, leave the fields below as they are.
Use Custom Avatar
You may upload a new custom image using the controls below.
Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website
Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
What you do is go to Option 2 and after it says "Upload Image From Your Computer" it will have a botton next to it that says "Browse". Click it and browse your computer for the photo you want. Hope that is a little more explanitory for you. I didnt use a coustom avitar until I became a mod so I dont know if it is that or what! :)

That's great! I've heard that a masseuse can make good money! Do you have a lot of Marines as clients? If so, that's gotta be nice! ;)
I was in Jacksonville for a very short time. I moved there August 1986, and we moved October 1988. We lived at Big John's, then we lived in Tarawa Terrace. Jacksonville has a fond place in my heart because it's where I met my hubby, and it's also where we got married. My brother-in-law and sister were stationed there, AND my brother and sister-in-law were stationed there as well. My sister-in-law and I became close, life-long friends by hanging out together and being Marine wives in Jacksonville! Her marriage to my brother didn't last, but our friendship has. I love that woman like a sister. :) After Jacksonville, we lived in Yuma, AZ for 5 years, but from November 1990-July 1991, my hubby was involved in Operation Desert Storm. All-in-all, my hubby was in the Marine Corps for 14 years, and had planned on being a career Marine. Unfortunately, after Clinton was elected, my hubby was down-sized from the Marine Corps. It broke his heart, and it took a long time for him to recover from it. I still don't think he's fully recovered. He was one of those gung ho, there to serve his country type of Marines. He was just so lost for the longest time! It was truly depressing. Right now, he's going to college to be an Accountant. Hopefully, he'll be able to find another niche one of these days!
Probably way more info than you wanted! :)

Maybe this will make your hubby feel better! My brother is a Navy man, and got out years ago only to join the Naval Reserves months later. His job and security clearance has put him in many dangerous places over the last 20+ years and many were on land. He told us after just recently coming back from the "Mideast" was the only was he stayed safe was because the Marines led them and had their backs!!!
I do hope that he finds his "place" again!! Our service men and women deserve so much more then they get! They put their lives on the line everyday for our freedoms!

Hi all. I am from Tennessee and am very excited to be a part of startsampling.
I was born in LA California but grew up in Paris, Tennessee and I'm still here. My hubby was military so we lived in Mississippi and Jacksonville Florida before moving back here. I also lived in Tulsa OK when I was 17. I've lived in Jackson TN and Nashville TN too but Paris will always be home no matter where I go.

My husband worked for Lockheed at Norton AFB and our apt was over by a college over there--I can't remember the name of it. We were there in '91. I think we went exploring one day and were up in your area...it was very pretty up there compared to where we were staying.

Hi everyone and Good Morning (day) to some of you!!
I live in Rudolph, Ohio it is about 8 miles west of the college of Bowling Green, Ohio. We live in the boonies and love it way out here!! We own property on the maumee river and also past columbus, Ohio past hocking hills, Ohio. It is very pretty there as well with all the hills and seclusion!
I guess it is safe to say we are country bumpkins!!! My husband and I were both raised in the halfway point of city/country and we love it here now and woldn't go anywhere else at all now!!!

Klassie, welcome to the SS forum! I live in the boonies too, up in the mountains at about 7,000ft elevation in Big Bear Lake, Calif, we love it too! We have no freeways, no trains, no jets, we also have 4 seasons at this elevation, so we have snow in the winter! We call it designer snow here because we do not have it all the time and when we do the roads are usually clear within 1 day, last year we had the least snow in recorded history for this area...it was nice but we do need the snow or rain as our water comes from wells up here. We also have 2 ski slopes, the lake, water skiing, boating, fishing, camping, nature walks, and lots of things going on every weekend. We are close to everything "down" the hill as we say, Palm Springs is about 2 hours away, the beach is also about 2 hours away, Disneyland, about 1 1/2 hours or so away....:)
