I am starting this thread for a few reasons:
1- I am wondering who has this/suffering from this?
2- Who has had the surgery?

Today I had my second hand surgery to fix problems with my hand due to my job. I have been off work since the end of March for my hand- with my first surgery at the end of March. I was diagnosed with DequarveinsTenosynovitis and had it released. After 3-4 EMG tests(nerve test in hand) and been told they all came back negative fot CTS- my new surgeon said it is common to get false negatives on this tests and felt a CT release might help.

To the point: My hand kills despite the pain meds and was wondering who might have had this done and what is "normal" to expect and for how long and so forth?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

I have Carpel Tunnel in my right wrist...I will not have surgery because I am not working anymore, but, if I use a screwdriver for a short time I pay dearly for it....I have to wear a hand brace when it really hurts... I never thought something could hurt so bad until this happened.
As you know having surgery is not a lasting fix, sometimes it works for an extended time, and sometimes it doesn't...I hope you start feeling better asap! rest that hand!

not only did I have the CT release but they also went and reopened the same spot that was opened in March so my hand is really sore and swollen. Thanks for the info Carol- will be slow going as mine is my right hand and I am a righty- typing with left and it is a hunt and peck lol

The problem with this surgery is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, I worked with a woman who had both hands done, at first I thought she tried to commit sucide because I saw her scars.... it worked for her for just a short time, then she was back to square one....you would think that by now they would have a fix, something that keeps that tunnel open without a chance of closing up again, like a shunt or something...are you in a brace so you do not bend your hand? I found my brace to be a life saver when my hand hurts.

I was in a brace but it made things worse for me- after surgery my hand has been free of a a brace, wrap, or anything, He stitched it on the inside and then used the glue to keep the incision together in both spots. I can move my hand somewhat, but it is very stiff and swollen still. Also I was told that he wasn't "God" and it might not work lol just hurts alot

Oh boy, I sure hope this surgery fixes your hand! I know you probably don't want to go through that again! It's going to take time for the swelling to go down, I wish you the best outcome!! and a speedy recovery!

I had the surgery on both hands. It was so horrible! Before and right after the surgery. Before it was horrible because my right hand was so bad that it would be cold, numb and actually turn blue!!!!!!! The blockage was that bad! It was work related so I had to wait for the workers comp approval to get the surgery. After the surgery it was horrible because of the physical therapy everyday. The pain was unbearable. They did give me pain meds but at the time my two kids were youngerand I drove them to & from school. So I couldn't take the meds!

The brace did not help me either before or after. I am happy I did have the surgery. I would do it again. In fact it's been ten years, and just this past year my right arm bothers me if I am on the computer typing alot. Good luck with everything.
