The train arrived today. Sorry, I have been really busy getting ready for the opening day of deer season. It is kind of like a religious holiday to hunter's you know!

Anyway, I didn't get to look through them yet, but will tomorrow. I will send them out Monday so that I can clip this Sunday's coupons too! I will post again when I send them out.

OK gals......the train has left the station! I took the envelope to the Post Office tonight so it would go out in the 5AM mail.

I tried to count the coupons, and when I got to 357, I had had it! There have to be at least 500 coupons in there so Erin, you should have plenty to choose from!

Also, a side note gals. My sister-in-law works for a company that helps doctors find low cost and no cost prescriptions for their patients without medical coverage. She gave me several cards to give to my friends without coverage so that they would at least get discounted meds. I enclosed 6 of them, if any of you do not have coverage, please feel free to take one. Perhaps you know an ederly person that could use the discount when the donut hole on their medicare comes up. Just thought I would share! Hope it helps someone!

It might be where I live at...My mail has been comming in and getting out slow...I send my sister a letter with some pics in the mail about 2 weeks ago, and she still hasnt rec'd it! When I send something to my aunt up north, it usually takes no more than 2 days, but with the holidays at the most 3!

Yes, I put a label on it, I always do when mailing something! If it doesnt arrive soon, I can send out another one if you would like me to. I just cant believe it is taking this long to get to you, somthing must have happened!

Well, if it was put in the mail on the 17th, that was a Saturday, and they say they sort the mail, but they don't always send it out until Monday. So therefore, if it actually went out on Monday, that was the 19th, then we had Thanksgiving. I would say to give it just a few more days. But that is just my opinion. It seems like the mail has been really slow as of late. Seems that besides bad weather, people are trying to mail stuff for Xmas out early. The news around here has talked about it.

However, it isn't coming to me next......HB may be ready for it!

This is my first train ride and I was hoping to get a decent selection to choose from. I am ok with waiting until Monday like Lisa said so that Sunday's coupons could be added to the envelope. Hi, and welcome to the SS forum. What you need to do is post in the thread that says 'Coupon Train Waiting List'. Then they will fit you on a train when it has an opening or maybe start a new one if they have enough people to ride.

There are some Duracell, Panasonic, Betty Crocker Minis, Dog Food, Cat Food, Pampers, Colgate etc. Hope it helps. I didn't want the train to arrive with expired coupons.

Do you really need me to say the words??? It has taken me about 1.5 hours to go through them and sort them into "food", "non-food items" and then put them in order of expiration. I have added a LOT of coupons myself, so Liz, you should be delighted when you get it. There has to be well over 1000 coupons in there. I found some great ones and very few were expired and needed to be culled out. I will post later if indeed I do get the chance to run to the post office. Just wanted to update everyone.

I guess they had all come apart during shipping. I KNEW that it wasn't like you not to have some order to them! LOL

I guess since I have been on the shorter trains, coupons are getting to me quicker and on two of the other trains, we have been doing them by "food" "non-food" catagories and then putting them in order by expiration date in the two catagories. I have been wrapping a little piece of notepad paper around them and then securing with the rubber band and just writing on the paper either "Non-Food" or "Food". I am hoping that they are staying together that way. I had received another bunch of coupons that had all come apart and out of the rubber bands during shipping too. Yet another reason to thank the USPS......tossing packages around. And they say that they handle EVERYTHING with care! LOL

I sent the coupon train out today. When I went through them, I didn't really pay attention to whether they were in order or not, nor did I particularly care. I look through every coupon and pull out the ones that I want and all of the expired ones and the ones that were almost expired. I did group them by food/non-food and there were a couple that expire on the 15th that I thought Lisa might be able to use, so I put them on the very top. Personally, I don't think we need to do much more than that. If I need to do something different than this, you'll need to let me know the next time.

If you want to sort them it is fine with me, but I don't want us to make this overly complicated. I posted previously that it didn't matter to me if they are sorted or not, since I go through them all anyway. That's just my opinion. I grouped them by food/non-food and put the ones almost expired on the top. If you want things kept more separated, I will do that though. I do think we should not try to add extra envelopes or anything that would add extra weight so we can try to keep the shipping cost down. Other than that, I will do whatever everyone else wants to do :) .

I am sure your won't receive it by then, and figured it would be very disappointing to get that many expired ones. I did add about 80 more, so I hope that you find alot that you can use.

Note: In my opinion, I don't think we should have the categories so specific. The Canned Goods group is completely empty and there were only 3 or so left in the Meat group. I went ahead and sent the empty one anyway, but couldn't we just have the Pantry category include Canned Goods and the Frozen/Dairy also have Meat in it. We also had some items that would fit in more than one category, so it is up to interpretation as to which one to put it in. I am probably in the minority here, but to me it was alot more fun when they were just all in the envelope and you didn't know what you were getting until you looked at them. Like I said before I will do whatever everyone else wants, but thought I would add my opinion too. Anyone else have comments??

And, I am once again embarrassed to say that I have not sent the train out yet. I didn't realize I didn't have any envelopes, and yes, I did go to the store, but they were out of the smaller size! I've just decided to send it out using a big envelope. I'll rubberband them though. I'll get it in the mail first thing tomorrow. I just hope the darn self-service kiosk is working.

Ha, its ok. I just have alot of coupons that expire at the end of the month that I don't need so I was going to throw them in to see if anyone needed them, but oh well. I just hope I get it soon. I have surgery on the 30th, so I might have to have my boyfriend send it out for me. Thank god I have him!

Chris, if that happens to you next time (not having an envelope) why don't you see if you can reuse the same envelope. You can just write the new address on a piece of paper and tape it on top. I never buy large envelopes. I either reuse the one I was sent or reuse one that I got a free sample or ebay item in. I figure there is no need to waste extra money on it and it is less waste, environmentally speaking, that way too. I consider myself frugal, but I guess some would say cheap-LOL.

Sorry, ladies! We just spent the past 2+ days without power! Talk about a miserable life. I'm just glad we didn't go without for 8 days like we did in December though!

It's no problem. Glad you have power again. We lost power during an earthquake in Hawaii when I was there, and we were STARVING!! We finally realized (of course about 2 hours before we got power again) that we could use the grill!:eek: It was pretty funny though once we realized. Thankfully that morning our country club we worked at cancelled brunch and gave us most of the food!! YUMMY!! I miss that food.:rolleyes:

Well we invited everyone over to our place once it happened, so we had about 15 people. Little food was left after everyone made their first round. It was good though. I can almost taste the fresh pineapple now. YUMMY!

Ya, when we went to North Shore we would stop at the Dole plantation and get some. They have this huge maze there, it is crazy. It takes hours to find your way out. I still remember taking my roommates cousin there and we were telling him how in Hawaii it is a FELONY to STEAL A PINEAPPLE! He was like ya well I will go snatch one off a tree and no one will know. We laughed so hard and he couldn't figure out why. They don't grow on trees, they grow in the ground!!! If you ever go visit I suggest buying some in the airport before you leave. They are a little pricey, but totally worth it!!
