I'll have to try this!!! I had friends with lots of kids and what appeared to be a black carpet. Visited one day and carpet was gold. Asked what she used and she'd used oven cleaner! Guess nothing could've hurt at that point.

I put a little Mr. Clean in my carpet cleaner sometimes. Works ok around here. I have even put dawn in it. I have never had a problem but not sure if anyone should try it cause I would hate to know I caused you a problem. lol My neighbor says she puts a touch of bleach in hers and it does not discolor. I am scared to do that.

I will try the 409. I ruined my carpet last winter. I now have a big area rug throwed over the bad spot until we can replace the whole room. I spilled a cup of hot tea on beige carpeting.I soaked it up with a towel and thats where I should of stopped. But ..I didn't instead I used that oxy wash stuff that gets the stain out of everything. Now that area of my carpet is bright orange.I was so upset because the tea stain was barely noticeable compared to this bright orange.live and learn! Thats probably why they always tell you to do a test spot first in a hidden area!

My Mom used to put a little bit of Simple Green in her carpet cleaner along with the shampoo. She said it worked like a charm!!

I use Folex and love it!

You can patch if all else fails.Go in your closet for a piece and switch with the stained piece.Next time maybe hydrogen peroxide for tea stain on beige?

Somebody told me to use dishwasher machine detergent because it leaves no filmy residue. I have a stockpile of Electrasol tabs from when the $2.25 coupons were good, making a box of tabs .25 at Dollar General. Anyway, I'll try it for carpet stains and report back.
I've tried alot of different cleaners because of my yorkie, she's having bladder problems in her old age. Dawn worked very good.
