It seems like there's been a lot of spam on the message boards lately. Every time I sign on, there's a new p0rn ad in "Other Stuff." And when I go to report it, it tells me I have to wait 60 seconds between spam reports. Whassup with that?

Your just noticing this? lol we have atleast 50 spammers a day if not more...the 60 second wait is programmed, nothing we can do about that.

We do get a lot of spam and it's so frustrating. Sometimes I just have to laugh at the p o r n posters though. This is a forum made up of mostly women, so what in the world are they thinking? One time, I got annoyed at an especially gross one and I PMed the person who did it. I asked 'im if he really thought a message board full of women would be interested in that **** LOL! :D He didn't respond.

What I don't understand is how someone really wants to spend the time registering a user name just to post p o r n. Seems not worth it to me.

I must say the moderators are on top of getting the spam out of here. When I do see one, I always report it, which seems like it has been several lately.

I was wondering, does it help you guys if we flag it???

It does help when you report it. When you report it, the report is sent to the mods via an e-mail. Sometimes, I am online, but not at the board when an e-mail comes in. For example, about half an hour ago, Zoneey reported a p o r n post, and I got the e-mail while I was looking at e-mails in my inbox. No problem just to pop on over here and delete it right quick.

Lisa, I just checked my inbox and a report was there from you as well. :) Thanks, and keep it up! :)

My sister is Internet Security Certified. She says there is a software program out there that allows the user to imbed messages in pictures and videos. Apparently, criminals and militant groups are using p o r n to send secret messages to one another via the Internet. I'm not saying that's what's going on here, but it is possible, I guess. There's got to be a reason why they'd go to so much trouble to post p o r n links at a message board that's clearly not a p o r n site's target audience.

They get paid for every click-thru they generate.

How many of us have clicked? LOL!

I have on accident before. I was trying to delete the post before the page had loaded all the way. The page jumped right when I clicked delete, and I clicked on a link instead! Worse part? My kids were in the room! I don't think they saw anything though.

Unfortunately, this is not the only site that is getting hit by those spammers. I've seen the p0rn and the 'canadian med' spammers on other sites as well. They're worse than the 'complete 6 offers' people. Too bad there isn't some way to backtrack them and do something about them

The most important thing, never click on any of the spam you see, I once had a spammer post what looked to be a regular post, it had a happy face at the end, the same exact happy face as we have here, only this one was not what it seemed to be...it was a link for smut...I once had a spammer message me back and ask me to tell him in a professional and courteous manner why he received an infraction....

LOL! Last time we had a presidential election, I went online to check out both candidate's platforms. Imagine what came up when I Googled the word Bush! I had pop-ups flying everywhere, and ended up having to re-boot my computer!

I just want to warn everyone that I did something really dumb the other day. I visited our forum last night and read a post that I thought was from a trusted member (here their name was SIMILAR to another person that I know) well dummy me clicked on the link because it looked like it was a Youtube link to look at a movie (claimed they didn't know the movie and could someone please help:mad: ) well I clicked without thinking and got a virus/worm on my computer. Lost my desktop and robbed me of almost all my memory (just TRYING to click on my spyware program to get rid of the worm took FOREVER and I had to run about 3 times along w/other programs to get rid of it. I learned the hard way to check, double check, triple check who's posting what. Just because we're on a site w/friends doesn't mean these spammers aren't able to slip by and post crap on the forums here. Sadly, they mask their posts as if they are asking honest to goodness questions. I will no longer click on anything that looks "funny" or someone who has never posted on these boards in the past to verify their intentions. I feel dumb for what I did :o but hopefully it'll stop others from making the same mistake.

I am so sorry that happened to you! Your post will help others, this is why I say never click on anything in a post from someone new...if anyone thinks a post looks strange or for any reason, click that triangle and just write, "please check this post"....in fact you can also post a reply such as, ATTENTION forum members, this post does not look legit, I am having this checked out, do not click on anything in this post.....that may help too. We will try and get to the post asap!

Again, I am so sorry this happened to you, I hope you got rid of the virus!

I wish our site software had the ability to send an electric shock right thru the internet to anyone who posts spam links. They seem to deserve wetting their pants. Maybe in future???

Thanks for your kind words everyone! I should have known better than to click on that link (hindsight is 20/20 right??!! :o ) but they really fooled me by making it look like a legit post by a member (how sneaky was that!) My DH was able to remove the virus so it could have been a lot worse. I'm just grateful that we were able to recover everything.

Me too!

Heck, I have accidentally clicked on a link waiting for the page to load (while trying to delete the thread). I'm going to have to be extra cautious from now on.
