Hi all. Does anyone know if it is ok to place a Finch feeder by other regular bird feeders? I wasnt sure if the Finches preferred to eat by themselves( liked their food away from other birds) or if it really didnt matter. Thanks for any help. :)

I have 3 finch feeders on the same tree as my regular feeder, actually 2 regular feeders and one other feeder and the finches don't seem to mind sharing the area.

We have all types of birds stop by our home for a bath and quick bite, I've found the sparrows also enjoy the thisle as well. We have woodpeckers that love the suit(?) and wild birdseed in general for all birds. I've found that the Cardnials and Bluejays like oiled sunflower seeds and tend to be territorial, they chase away the little birds eating when they are feeding. I put their (Cardinals and Blues) feeder apart in the back yard, and other feeders on a dual shepards pole in the front. Works beautifully, everyones happy. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the replies! I think I am going to switch my birdseed. I usually buy that "mystery feed" lol birdseed, it is just a bunch of different kinds of seeds, and the birds did seem to come for a long time, now when I put that out they dont seem interested. Anyone know what is the best seed to put out? I was thinking sunflower seeds, and I have thistle for the finches. Anything else that would be good? Thanks for the help. :)

LOS-sounds like you're doing just fine. We also feed our squirrels.....we have a wood plank that goes on any tree. The corn cobb goes in a screw sticking out of the wood, and Mr. squirrel has to "sit" on the board to eat his corn. It looks so cute, like he sitting at the table having dinner. We also put out a fresh bowl of water for him. Love all the little creatures, one thing I've learned is, you can't feed stray cats if your a bird lover, that is a no-no! Good Luck!
