Are you a crafty person? If so what crafts or hobbies do you have? Mine are beading, painting, baking and gift basket making.
I have recently been making beaded eyeglass holders and beaded book thongs. My painting consists of painting on children's overalls. I would love to open a bakery and just sell cupcakes!

Beaded book thongs! Now that I would love to have. Are they simple to make? How did you learn?
I bake and have done the following:
quilting
rubber stamping
miscellaneous fabric crafts
stenciling
latch-hook rugs
needlepoint
cross stitch (stamped)

I LOVE to bake. I only wish I had time and a big enough kitchen to do the kind of baking I like to do. I have 5 kids. Before the 2 babies came along I baked for every school function you could think of (even made up a few just to take treats into the class) for the older three. Now i am limited to birthdays and holidays here at home. I even make a few of those up too LOL. The kids love unbirthdays, any excuse for one of moms cakes!

Kudos to you for doing so much baking for the kids' school things. I work outside the home don't have as much time for baking as I'd like. There just isn't enough time. I would love to make cakes for family members' birthdays and things. I love to bake and do make special breakfasts on weekends.

I have had many hobbies over the years. However, over the past 10 years I have narrowed them down to, hand quilting, scrapbooking, and making stain-glass memorial stones and stepping stones.:) Those three seem to be my passion. Barbee

Jewelry making and crafts. I also sew, with an emphasis on Renaissance period and fantasy style costumes. Turned out a really nice Pirate captain's get-up.

I love to crochet, but not making afghans. I don't use yarn, but like to use the thin crochet thread. I enjoy making doilies, placemats, and other lacy items. When the kids were younger, I was a stay at home mom, and would make Victorian Christmas ornaments every year. I would sell them, and would then pay for Christmas gifts for the kid that way. I also enjoy cross stitching, too.
I can decorate cakes, but haven't done that in years. Now that I'm home all of the time, maybe I can start again. It was fun making the cakes for the kid when they were little. I still have all of my pans, too! Who knew that the Ninja Turtles would be popular again! I'm glad that I hung on to that one!

I like to try to be creative and crafty but it usually don't turn out the way I would like. However, I do enjoy scrapbooking, decorating cakes, sewing, and writting. Though I don't do any of it very often.

I don't consider myself very crafty. I can do some cross stitch the stamped kind and the counted. My passion is scrapbooking. I love it. Although, I can't seem to bring myself to get past Creative Memories. If they have it, I have it. I do enjoy, reading and puzzles.

Gee, I love to sew, and making curtains is my forte`, lol, I mean unusual ones that I make up, using my own pattern that I make from brown paper bags, I have made curtains that spell out things like cooking or kitchen, they look neat in the kitchen and I always get asked where did you buy those? I don't have any samples, and now that I am in a new house I have to make some for my kitchen and computer room.

I try some crafts - not very good at them. I write poetry. The poems are usually for friends on special occasions and for family members. They seem very pleased with them.

I do basics, ice cycles (spelled way wrong :o ), christmas trees, candy canes, wreathes, and then the more elaborate...snowflakes, dangles and this year i'm going to try to make angels with full skirts and wings. I go to hobby lobby and look through their christmas crafts, take pics of the ornament crafts I like and go from their. They also have free patterens available. Another place to look is oriental trading i usually can look at the pic and make a pretty good copy. Nine times out of ten I don't need instructions. When i get some done this year I'll post some pics.

I like to make things out of junk! (Recycled old/antique things I find, and make new things with them!) I paint, make dried flower crafts, flower arranging, I love to sew...(I made all of the curtains in my house, and for in-laws)also doilies, I also sew & craft "memory pillows", I collect sea shells and sand from my trips, and make collectable momentos from them, I also write poetry, and make home made gifts, cards, embroidery--(my own version anyway~I like to tea stain almost everything, and frame it! I enjoy distressing everything too! When I see something in a catalog, I like...I figure its cheaper to do myself, so I do! I like things to look primitive!
My hobbies include, gardening, flea marketing, antiqueing, Boxing, rodeos, 4-wheeling, mowing the grass....(seriously, I LOVE it, hubby just bought me my own John Deere mower, its a family thing now...he's on his tractor, and I on my mower!) Country Music, Beaches, fairs & festival hopping, and sooo much more!
Here's 2 of my recent "embroidery"crafts...
2514 2513
I made this one for our Anniversary, and the other one I made, I "stole" saying from tender heart treasures catalog! It reads: Home to laughter, home to rest, home to those we love the best.

I use to do the same thing Pam, stealing the ideas from Magazines. They sure have some neat sayings.
I use to make wreaths that I sold up here in a store. Years ago....
I also love to sew, and made most of my curtains, going to be making more this winter. I have all the fabric, just need to get a burst of energy to get it done.
I also like to paint stuff, have all the little craft paints in every color they make.
I also like to paint on glass, just got an etching kit a few months ago. So I want to etch some wine glasses and then paint them.

:) Ibeapoet - have you had anything published? I don't participate in those "poetry contests". You usually have to buy the book. I did have two or three of my poems published in a local newspaper. I also had one published in "Wing World", a magazine for GoldWing motorcycle enthusiasts. It was fun to know that someone else was reading my poetry. I love writing Christmas and birthday poems.:)

Its too bad Wal-mart did away with their Fabric center....there stuff was so much cheaper but of course they put all the local fabric stores out of business:mad: . I have to drive an hr 1/2 away to buy expensive material. Fortunately I am a stockpiler, so I have enough for a little while!
I often think about selling my stuff too Carol..I'd like to open up a little craftshop and also cook homemade dinners by appointment.....

Pam, I had the very same idea about cooking dinners by appt too. Of course I never did it!! Out here I would need a business license and something from the health dept.

You would have to have a license to do food, but anything else you don't I don't think, unless you make over a certain amount each year. A business license is only $15 here, so it is not hard to get one. The food is the hard thing though. I worked at a smoothie bar that was small, and it was such a hassle having to deal with the health inspector. When we wanted to add sandwiches it was this big ordeal and we had to get approval and stuff. I never knew it was that hard.
Carol, if it was worth the time going through all of that you would make some money! You could just do like romantic dinners for couples from your house. Maybe set up something outside. That would be so cute! I bet you would make alot of money, and you could always "advertise" by getting on the news!!

California is very tough when it comes to anything food. I don't think it is allowed to serve food from home or in your home here. I'm not 100% sure, but I have never seen or heard of anyone doing that type of thing, outside of a bed and breakfast.
I would love to serve a meal here, maybe to just 4 people. You cannot serve any type of liquor without a license here, not to mention the liability insurance...... So who would want to come for a nice dinner and not be able to have a glass of wine or a beer? or mixed drink.

Wow it is harder there. We have the same with the liquor license, but I think you can do it from home here. I have seen tons of bed and breakfasts, but there is a house not too far from us that does meals from their house. That is way too much to just serve a few people. There is a family here that opens a chicken place and it is small and family ran and they just do take out. It is great and they are not open late or on Sundays I don't think (they changed their hours I think). We have lots of places like that here. Maybe it is a southern thing:o

license wouldn't be a problem, neither would health inspecter...I'd WELCOME it. Especially In the areas around me, (out of cities) you wouldn't believe the places they allow here. It literally makes me sick to see the businesses they allow. I would shut down about half or more if it were up to me.
And tasteless. I don't think anyone uses spices/seasonings.

Wow, hard to believe they allow that type of stuff back there. I can just imagine.
Calif is pretty hard on restaurants here, when they do an inspection they give a grade from A thru F. Many restaurants display their grade in the window so you know they are safe to eat in.

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/gifs/Gluesnowman2.GIFWorking on waxed paper, spread 2 or 3 blobs of white glue in the shape of a snowman. Unfold a paper clip into a V-shape (to use as a hanger).
Cut a tiny hat from black construction paper and put it on the snowman on top of the paper clip hanger. Put the ends of the paper clip into the glue at the top of the snowman. For the snowman's eyes, use black paper circles cut with a hole punch, or use googly eyes. Put the eyes on the snowman. Add a tiny orange (carrot-shaped) nose. Add a few paper buttons (or small real buttons) down the front of the body.http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/gifs/Gluesnowmandone.GIFLet the glue dry - it will take a few days. When it dries, the glue will become transparent. When it is completely dry, peel it gently off the waxed paper. String the snowman on some yarn for a cool necklace or use a shorter string to use as an ornament.
