Okay, everyone! Remember, I was having a bad day? Well, I guess, it was a bad week! I went to the post office to mail the envelope, even had them weigh it, with correct zip code as to where I was sending it. I put the correct postage on it and put it in the slot. Off it went, or so I thought! I DID NOT put the TO: address on it. So.... almost a week later, guess what shows up in my mailbox? The coupon train envelope. I thought, how weird is that? But, there it was with my return address label on both sides of the package and no TO: address on it.

SORRY everyone! What an IDIOT I am!:eek: It will go back out today at my lunch break. Hopefully mkrebecca will have it by Saturday.:rolleyes:

notice/reminder for all train threads
:( Unfortunately, we have already lost our first train . Train #3 was received by the last passenger on 10/3 and has not shown up at it's next stop. The passenger who received it has also not logged into this site since that day. We all hope that it is just lost on the way, but it's not looking good....I will be sending the waiting passenger a new train today, but I'm sure it won't be as big as it was...

I really don't want those of us that have worked hard at keeping these going and those of you that are anxiously waiting for your train to come in to be disappointed by this happening again.

So, I would like to post a few reminders/rules/suggestions to hopefully make the outlook a little better...

Please post when your train comes in and again AFTER it leaves. Communication is vital to the success of the trains existance. The other passengers like to know where it is and how long it takes to get from one stop to the next.

Please check your train thread(s) at least every other day. The conductor may need to take a vote on a change, or another passenger may have a question for you, etc. It would be good to check it daily if it is right before or after your stop.

Please limit your train riding to 3 trains or less. This will be to just prevent confusion and to make room for new passengers. We will need to stop adding new trains at some point--I'm thinking 10--and we are already on #9.

And please, please don't join a train or stay on your train if you feel like you may not be able to follow through with your responsibilities as a passenger!!

Ok just to let everyone know that I will be going to the Post Office tomorrow. I am not sure how you would like things done, but in the package I received there were little envelopes with coupons and then there was a ton of coupons all over not in envelopes. There were quite a few expired coupons that I pulled out and there were 67 coupons that I pulled out because they will expire in the 4 days. Unfortunately, there are a ton of coupons that will expire on 10/31. I hope maybe the next stop will be able to use them. I took out 3 coupons for myself and replaced them with 20. I will post a confirmation that I mailed the envelope.

Sorry it was a disappointment after waiting so long-hopefully next time around will be better. If someone can think of a better way to secure them that would be great because the USPS will definitely shake 'em up. On train #1 I had them all separated and in envelopes but we voted on ditching them because it added so much weight-same for paper clips. If anybody has any good ideas let me know because some of the other trains would probably want to know. Thanks:)

Well, I got a much needed little gift while doing a restaurant mystery shop. There were 3 out of town/big city newspapers on the counter for customers to read. They looked well read but there was still a good stack of coupons in each one --so I took them all to help restart our train!!!:p My (small town) paper today only had about 20 coupons max:(

Hello to everyone. I'm sorry I haven't got in touch with anyone. It took me 2 weeks to get internet after I moved, and then my hard drive crashed on my computer. I am just getting it back and hooked up today. I did mail out the train. I was in the proccess of moving when I received it on Halloween. I was still getting my mail at the old address. That is where I mailed the train from. I'm sorry if you haven't received it. I have some coupons to send out another one if you would like me to. Just let me know.

This is when DayDreamer was last on the forum: Last Activity: 11-26-2007 01:58 PM That is what it will look like when you check it.
There are a couple ways you can do it:
1) just click on any user name-in a post reply or pm for example-this will bring up a box with 4 options--just click on view profile--you will see the last activity on the upper right
2) go to the black bar that runs across the top of the page--click on members list--this will bring up letters of the alphabet--click on the letter that the user name starts with--it will show you how many pages there are that start with that letter--from there it is kind of like using a phone book--ABC order--when you find the name just click on it and it will bring up their profile.
It is easier than it sounds;)

Since she hasn't been on since Monday, so she hasn't received my pm yet(sent yesterday) DayDreamer is a regular on the forum--I really don't think she would derail the train;) She seems to log in at least every other day, so hopefully she will get my pm today!!

I would love if someone has a bunch of coupons to start a new train that would come to me. By the time I get it, I should have an ample amount to add to send to unicorn. I would just send one out and let it skip me this time, but I just sent out a gazillion coupons to help out on another train that got lost. I cut more coupons tonight, but it only gave me about 50. I don't think that is enough to send on yet do you?

Thank you! I'm scrounging up all I can. I'll look in the commissary tomorrow. Sometimes they have regular manufacturer coupons, but most are military coupons.. If you have any that expire tomorrow that you want to include, I will be sending a huge batch to the military overseas. Jan, you could do the same. It just all depends on if you can pay the extra postage-no big deal if you can't or don't want to. I just have so many that expire on 12/31 that I decided to send a batch over. I have been saving them for a couple months.
I figure that between using all I can tomorrow and sending the rest overseas, it won't hurt like it would to throw away this huge stack of coupons. I would probably have had to do a little memorial service or something!!:p LOL

Back to the train...I separated the coupons into food and nonfood only and put them in order of expiration date. Makes it easy to just take them right off the top of the stack. Now that it's done, hopefully it won't be too much trouble to add your coupons in the same way. However, whatever you guys want to do is fine with me. I'm just gonna send them out in whatever way they come to me the next time around.:)

OK Gals......so I go to the post office and their automated machine is out of order. Therefore, I didn't get to send it as it was after 5. I will go to another post office tomorrow and send it off.

I took out the expired coupons and the ones that will expire before the the 21st. I did add my coupons in order of month, but not necessarily by date. Sorry, I usually do it by date as well, but I just didn't have the time. I will explain why I didn't have the "time" in about a week......I may have some big news to share.

I got the train today. I only got this one so I will get it back in the mail tomorrow.

There were two piles when I got them, one for non-food and one for food. I am adding a third pile, just so it makes it easier for us to sort and go through the ones that expire soon. Any thing that expires before the end of the month (January) is in a pile that says expires before the end of the month. That way, you can know if there is something you want and you can run by and use it before it's too late.

The only reason we would just put them in and not sort or keep them in some sort of order is so we could get them back out quickly, as Dawn said it takes quit a bit of time to get them all nice and neet. I try to get them back out on the same day I get them, but also try to keep it in the order I recieve them. So if it comes in order it leaves in order, but if they are just stuffed in, then that is how they leave here. I don't think we should put the paper clips on them because of the extra weight. I think order of experation is important but I am not sure if food or non-food is to me.
(This is just my opinion, not trying to make anyone mad or anything)

I always put a rubber band around them, I don't think that costs any extra weight but I may be wrong, I don't put the thick rubber bands, just flimsy ones.

It does take less time to go through them if they come in order. I don't think it takes much time to just add to those by putting things in date order.

I agree with RQ. If they come to you messed up, why should we waste the 2 hours or more it would take to get them in order. But PLEASE for this train at least put them in two seperate piles one for FOOD and one for NON-FOOD. Then the date thing should just come naturally.

As for the sorting, I don't think that it should be a problem for anyone here to put them into "food", "non-food" and PUT THEM IN ORDER OF EXPIRATION DATE! It really does make life easier if they stay that way! Especially when you are trying to cull out the expired ones.

I do all this stuff to get more coupons which I then don't have time to use. I think it has been made worse by the fact that I keep getting all 3 at the same time. It is kind of silly for me to spend my time on coupons and then go to Food Lion instead of the commissary because I don't have time. I understand the busy thing... we are in the middle of our state testing and I have 10 special education students that I am responsible for submitting every session of the test to. All but one of them get it read to them except for the communication arts part. That means, I test them each individually and I have to scribe for 7 of the 10!:eek:

On top of that, my mom drove herself to the hospital today as she was being admitted again due to her leg. They have finally decided that her body is rejecting the rods and pins...hmmm, I've been saying that for months. Anyhow, they are doing surgery on her on Thursday, so I am off again to drive the 5.5 hours to the hospital tomorrow. I am lucky, I have a good principal who says, "Your mom is more important than any MAP test!" Awesome, wish my brother and sister felt the same!:(

I don't want to quit any of the trains, but i just have to. I have to cut down my time spent on the forum too. That's even harder! I've tried to several times but the darn computer just keeps calling my name:rolleyes: LOL!

Got the train today! Will mail it out on Friday. Everytime I receive the train is a complete unsorted mess. Everytime I send it out, I pull any expired and split into food and non food categories and slip them in plastic baggies to keep them flat. I had them seperated by food and non food, I added some just before mailing, sorry if they wre messed up! I don't put the bags in there to save on postage and the rubber bands rip the coupons so I don't use those. I really don't see the big deal in just looking thru the coupons and taking what you want and sending the rest to the next person. sorry if I missed some that were expired!

Wow, then I am really baffled because the envelope I got nothing was even sorted by food or non food. Maybe someone opened it before I got it? That is weird. It does not matter to me how we do it, but I will do whatever is decided. I am just tired of wasting my time if no one else is going to sort it also. I agree about the rubber bands but I do believe the baggies are not adding enough weight to make a difference. I also think the baggies help flatten the stack and keep the envelope flatter.

Got the train today. It is heading for you tomorrow Becky. It is back in ziplock bags. ALOT of stuff expires on the 30th of June.

Let's keep it in the ziplock bags for organizational purposes. At least then we have food and non food categories that way if we don't need non-foods when we get it, we don't have to look through it.

What do you girls think about adding another person?

My mom is finally doing much better. She went to the doctor last Tuesday and does not have to go back for three months. She is walking with a walker finally. She is still having some pain. She calls it twinges. I think she is finally on the road to recovery!

I actually stayed home this past weekend and went to church. First time in 12 weeks. I am so worn out from the driving. I wish I could have taken the summer off from school but I needed the money!

Just checking in to see who you sent the train to. Since this is my first train, I'm learning the ropes as I go.

Okay, in looking at zoning stuff I decided that I would send the train to Becky as I have been doing and then on to DeAnna in TN and then have her send to Jan in FL and then to you. This seemed like it would be the most time efficient.

We'll see how it goes and then make changes if we need to. I am sending your address to Jan and she will send the train to you when she is done with it. Please post and let us know when you recieve it and when you send it out.
