OMG I love Peapod (http://www.peapod.com)! I'd be so lost without them. We don't have any grocery stores nearby, and carrying twenty bags of groceries on public transit is a nightmare. Peapod's produce is always fresh, and the meats are actually better quality than the ones you buy at the store. Our delivery fee is only $6.95 (round trip bus/train fair would be $3.50), and they bring it right up to our apartment on the 17th floor and into the kitchen. Pretty much the only thing they don't do is put the groceries away! Ha ha :p

The only drawback is that you have to tip the driver, but it's well worth it to me to be able to shop online and avoid the hassle of transporting groceries.

I bet it is handy as heck for you! I'm glad you found them. :)

Having to buy groceries, then carry them on public transit is something that is completely foreign to me. However, I've been on the Metro in DC, and can imagine what a nightmare that would be.

wow, that is a huge help, and well worth the money, look at the time alone that it saves you, and they bring it to you kitchen...we have nothing like that here where I live, not yet that is, I would love to use this service during the winter when there is snow on the ground.........thanks for filling us in on a great service!

I can't imagine trying to bring groceries home on public transportation (and there is none that come to where I live in the 'burbs). Just putting them in the car at the store then bringing them into the house (ground level) when I get home is a chore. I'm so glad you have this service available to you. The delivery charge, etc is worth it when you consider the cost of transportation and/or the price of gasoline. I order many things on line and get it shipped to my home in order to avoid going to the shopping center.

Absolutely! They accept all manufacturer coupons.

Now that is awesome--I would use that service in a heartbeat--even if I didn't have to use public transportation.
Your post reminded me of when I lived in a high rise apartment building. We had to park in a lot behind the building, which you had to unlock-day or night. It had elevators but they were all the way to the front of the building. There were stairs as soon as you walked in that back door, but I lived on the 10th floor at the very back by the stairs. Not bad as long as you weren't carrying groceries. Thank goodness I didn't have kids yet and there were washers/dryers on every floor!!-and that I was 17 and able to run up those steps-no problem:p

I checked this out. It looks pretty cool. If I lived in a big city and used public transportation, I would use if for sure! I think I would also use it in the HOT months of summer.

Can't imagine trying to haul twenty bags of groceries on public transportation! I can see why you love PeaPod. Parents magazine just printed a comparison between three online grocery shopping companies in their latest issue. They compared Amazon grocery section, PeaPod, and NetGrocer. Parents gave PeaPod a big thumbs up in their glowing positive comments on PeaPod--the other two weren't even close to PeaPod's level of service, variety and quality of goods, or low delivery cost. Sounds like a real winner! Thanks for bringing this reputable company to our attention!
