When I was a kid we always had to "Fall Clean" the house...very similar to spring cleaning...basically washing every room, nook & cranny from ceiling to floor. Do you do that? Is it overkill??? Should I start doing it again? (I moved into a new home 6 months ago.

I personally still do it. I clean on a daily basis but twice yearly I like to do my heavy cleaning top to bottom nothing is safe.It always amazes me when I see how much brighter everthing is.I think geesh I clean all the time how can it be so dirty.I still call my spring & fall cleaning. Congrats on your new home!

You know, I get so frustrated with cleaning house. It seems like I am always cleaning, but it doesn't seem to do any good. It'd help if I didn't live with a bunch of slobs!
I cleaned my house from top to bottom before my sister's visit. When I clean house, I start with the clutter. I sort through papers, and other personal items. What I can't sell on eBay goes to Goodwill or Vintage Stock, and everything else we don't use/need gets recycled or tossed. Once I have the clutter cleared, I do all the dirty work. I start from the ceiling and go down. Clear cobwebs from corners, and dust the ceilings. Wash curtains and mini-blinds. Then I clean decorative items--figurines, candles, etc. Then comes the dusting, then the vacuuming.
In the kitchen and bathrooms, I clean out cabinets and drawers first. In the kitchen, the refrigerator is next. Next, I sweep, then I wipe down counters, then I mop.
Bathroom: Sweep, wash shower curtain and liner, clean shower enclosure, then tub; sink and counter, toilet, then mop. Since I have children, I also have to wipe down the walls and doors, including cabinet doors. Since my bathroom seems to get dirty again the quickest, I always clean it last.

this is a great idea, i personally wish i had more energy to clean more often. Our house is not "dirty" just cluttered. I love the idea of deep cleaning more than once a year. Of course i will be doing more of that once my baby gets to finally come home from the hospital. I am sure the house will have to be totally sanitazed and every inch completly clean. Guess the best way to start is one room at a time.

I do A spring, fall , winter, and a summer, cleaning. That way it gives me a chance to change decorations and move furniture around . I try to clean everyday. But to no avail my house still never looks like the magazine ads. I is clean but you can definitely tell people live here. And there are days that it looks like a tornado or 2 have run right through the house.

Only if you promise it will stay clean! There's not much satisfaction in cleaning when it gets messed up the very next day!

I clean out the window sills and take down curtain/drapes and wash and dry them outside if I can. Get behind or move furniture and vacuum. And open them window and let some fesh air in.

I always keep a clean house but deep clean every fall and spring. When I 'deep clean' I use the Mr. Clean with febreze and put it in an old ice cream gallon bucket and use an old wash cloth and wash down my baseboards, window seals and stuff like that. I love the scents of the new febreze Mr. Clean because they're not over powering but they have that clean, fresh scent of febreze!! ...this was just a little tip on something I do twice a year!!
