This is not written anywhere on the submission form, but a few of us filled out the form a few weeks ago. After doing so, we each recieved a coupon for a Free 20 oz. bottle of both Coca-Cola Zero and a Coca-Cola Classic to compare to each other. This package also had a free koozie enclosed!
Though it's not advertised, we got it, so we wanted to pass it along!

It's Coke's attempt at humor, I believe. Where'd you hear about this one, DayDreamer? Since you got it, I believe it's legit; even though it's definitely different!

This is a promotion run by Coke themselves, I found an article in the NY Times about it (dated 03/2007)...also if you click on the privacy policy at the bottom of the page it matches the Coke privacy policy from their website...
It's worth a try....

I saw the commercials for this, but was under the impression you could get a Coke Zero for free, and I wasn't interested, don't like any diet stuff (and I didn't think to mention it here :o ).... if it's any Coke free that's different! And if there's a bonus cozy, even better. Thanks for the info, hope it works. That'd also get 3 Coke Rewards points after getting the bottle :D Guess it would've been worth it to get that even if it is the Zero only, if I'd have been thinking.

My very favorite soda right now is Diet Cherry Coke Zero. Man, I love that stuff. If at all possible, I will be redeeming my coupon for that.
You also get a koozie free. A koozie is one of those foam thingamajigs you put your can or bottle of soda in to keep it cold.

I'd be getting non-diet Vanilla Coke :D
I knew what was meant by koozie, but I've always heard them just called cozy's, so automatically spelled it that way.

Yeah, I know people like you. You probably eat chocolate, french fries, and drink regular Coke all day, and are still thin as a rail. People like me have to drink diet soda pop, else we end up weighing 300 pounds! :(

I wish! With pop I just don't drink much (anymore!)... One way I limit it is, if it's in the house, is to not keep it in the fridge... if I want it, I stick a can in the freezer while my meal is cooking or something. At least then I have to think about it first. (An exception is like right now when I've got a cold and the fizzle feels better than constant plain water in my dry mouth... try to keep to mostly 7up in this case though, doesn't have quite so many bad ingredients). But I just can't stand the taste of any diet pop I've ever had.
I haven't been so successful at limiting other things that I should :p

I will use this for when company comes over, I don't buy much soda, but I like to have a few on hand for others who do drink it. I usually just give them .50 and send them over to the store across the street. So this is cool.

I have some friends who can't stand the taste of diet, so at least I am lucky in that respect.
Don't ya just hate those little things who can eat whatever they want? I see them at Quiktrip (convenience store) all the time, wearing their teeny shorts and tops that barely cover them up, carrying regular sodas, chips, and candy bars. Sometimes, I tell myself they are going to throw it up later just to make myself feel better, LOL!

You know, sometimes that catches up with them. I was always thin and ate whatever I wanted also. Then I hit 30 and had three more children!! I'm thinking that at 41 something needs to change. I wish I liked the diet soda, but I can't stand it at all!! Oh well, on to plan L!!!

One way to get over not liking the taste of a diet soda is to never drink the regular--you really do get used to it and it tastes good when you do. Of course if you take a drink of regular pepsi and then a drink of diet, we all know which one is going to taste better. There is nothing better than an ice cold, sweet, bubbly soda!!
the thing about soda is that it's bad for you whether it's regular or diet.
so many things are like this, but you get used to it
turkey burgers--regular burgers
egg white omelets--regular omelets
light/fat free salad dressing--regular salad dressing
sirloin--ribeye
light ice cream--regular ice cream
the list could go on forever.....
If you truly need to change to healthier options, your taste buds will adjust. It is amazing how much difference these things make. If you have ever done Weight Watchers or counted calories or carbs, you know what I mean!!!
I like my daughters ideas about food--She says, Mom wouldn't it be cool if everything that tasted good was healthy and everything that tasted bad was unhealthy??
If that were true and wine and margaritas were calorie free--it would almost be a perfect world;) LOL

I don't drink any soda. The regular is loaded with High Fructose Corn Syrup which I absolutely refuse to put into my and my children's bodies. And the diet is loaded with artificial sweetner...again, something I cannot ingest. Ah, well...to each their own. :D
I will just use these for when I have company...

Yep! And fortunately, we live in America!
Dawn, why do you say diet soda's bad for us too? The jury's still out on whether artificial sweeteners are bad for us or not. As is whether or not carbonic or citric acids leave behind enough of a residue to be bad for our teeth. I'm not trying to start something with you, I'm just wondering if you've heard or read something that I haven't.
Thanks! :)

No, I'm def not an expert on sodas. Maybe I should have worded it differently. I was really trying to say that there wasn't a healthy choice. Neither is good for you.
Also, even though that's what I meant at the time, I do have the assumption that all soda is bad for you. I'm actually glad to hear that there is no proof that it is. I drink them occasionally, but my kids drink them a little more than occasionally. I thought that I was just picking the lesser of two evils when I would choose diet.
And I would never think that you were starting something, we should all be able to speak up on this forum. We learn from each other and about each other that way. As long as it is done with respect and tact, no one should take offense. If they do, then the problem lies within them!!:)

Well, I definitely wouldn't say diet sodas have nutritional value, that's for sure! But, I just want to make sure they aren't bad for us. Water is definitely the way to go, and I do drink a lot of water. But, it does get a little blah sometimes. I also drink a lot of tea. But, with tea, you have to watch how much you drink because of how it affects our iron levels. It's hard to win!

See, now I've learned something else. I didn't know that about tea.
You can even drink too much water-though I'm pretty sure that 99.99% of us don't have that problem!

With the tea, it's because of the tannins.

My husband and I own a wellness center and here's just some of the information we've found on Splenda sweetner...we actually had a patient who was having joint problems due to Splenda and her MD told her to stop using it. So even the medical field is on the fence about this...
I'm offering this only as information, not to stop or judge anyone from doing what they choose... ;)
---------------------
As of 2006, only six human trials have been published on Splenda (sucralose). Of these six trials, only two of the trials were completed and published before the FDA approved sucralose for human consumption. The two published trials had a grand total of 36 total human subjects.
36 people sure doesn't sound like many, but wait, it gets worse, only 23 total were actually given sucralose for testing and here is the real killer:
The longest trial at this time had lasted only four days and looked at sucralose in relation to tooth decay, not human tolerance!
The chemical process to make sucralose alters the chemical composition of the sugar so much that it is somehow converted to a fructo-galactose molecule. This type of sugar molecule does not occur in nature and therefore your body does not possess the ability to properly metabolize it. As a result of this "unique" biochemical make-up, McNeil Nutritionals makes it's claim that Splenda is not digested or metabolized by the body, making it have zero calories.
It is not that Splenda is naturally zero calories. If your body had the capacity to metabolize it then it would no longer has zero calories.
I love all of you...whether or not you love or hate soda...LOL

Thanks for the info, DayDreamer! I think it's neat that you own a wellness center, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. Can you help those of us who don't know out?
I have a question about your patient. How does she know that her joint problems are due to Splenda?
Here's what Wikipedia says about Splenda:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucralose
I think it's one of those issues where you simply have to make an informed choice.
Will you please tell us why you don't like artificial sweeteners? What do you use? Sugar? Or do you just stay away from sweet stuff entirely? If you do, I envy your self-control!

Thank you for your questions! My husband is a chiropractor, and I am almost completed my Master's Degree in Natural Health. I do wellness and weight management consulting now. We have a massage therapist on staff and offer workshops and such.
I do use sugar occassionally, but I prefer the raw sugar. I do try to stay away from lots of it. There is a natural sweetner called STEVIA that I absolutely love! I sell it here at our center and people love it too! It's in liquid form and you only need a drop or two in coffee, etc.
Let me give you some info on it...
---------------------------------------------
Stevia rebaudiana also known as sweet herb or honey leaf is a small perennial shrub that belongs to the chrysanthemum family of plants. Stevia rebaudiana is the only known species at present which possesses an inordinate ability to sweeten. Stevia in its natural lerbal form is approximately 10 to 15 times sweeter than common table sugar. The Stevia is extracted from the leaves of the plant is rated at 200 to 380 times sweeter than sugar!
Stevia may well be the most remarkable sweetener in the world. The following are some of its the characteristics:
• It is suitable for diabetics
• calorie free
• does not adversely affect blood sugar
• is non toxic
• inhibits the formation of cavities and plaque
• contains no artificial ingredients
• can be used for cooking and baking
Stevia has also been known to possess herbal properties and was used by South American Indians for medicinal purposes for hundreds of years. Here is a list of some of the possible medicinal uses: Diabetes, Obesity, Hyperactivity, High blood pressure, Carbohydrate cravings, Tobacco and alcohol cravings, Hypoglycemia, Indigestion, Yeast infections, Skin toning and Healing.
Consumption is most extensive in Japan, Korea and China making up 80% of the world's consumption. It is also consumed in many other parts of the world.
As a result of the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act signed by then President Clinton, Stevia was finally approved by the FDA for use as "Dietary Supplement" and all labeling must state that. This is why if you try to find Stevia in your local health food store it will be in the supplement section not the sweetener section.
------------------------------------
Artificial sweetners are just that - artificial. Something about that very title has always called into question the quality of the product. I encourage you to look into Stevia and try it for yourself! It all-natural and reasonably price.
For example, we sell a 2 oz. bottle of it - 461 Servings (4 drops per serving) - for $15.40. It's great stuff - check it out and let me know what you think!
If you have any specific questions on this topic or any other health topic, PLEASE feel free to PM me and I will answer your question thoroughly and more in depth. I usually charge for my services, but in the spirit of this forum, all of my services to you are FREE!!!!!! :D
