Hi...I have been on NECON 0.5/35 birth control for atleast 3 years. At my last gyn visit, I asked about SEASONIQUE(4 periods/year). Dr gave me a 3 month sample pack. I am on day 13...me and dh had *** this morning (HeHe) and I read that I need a back up protection for the first 7 days of starting Seasonique...my question is this: Since I am on day 13,do you think we're covered? Also, since I had been on Necon for quite some time,do you really think the 7 day "waiting period" is necessary?

I think you should call the doctors office where you got these and ask them, they can give you the best advice to these questions.

Since it's been more than seven days, you should be okay. Since you were on Necon, I'm not sure if the seven day waiting period was necessary or not. Like Carol says, that is a question for your doctor.
Must not have been too worried 'bout it. ;)

I have the Mirena IUD and I LOVE IT. I have no periods and about the same chance of getting pregnant as someone with their tubes tied!!!!

I have the Mirena IUD too and love it. It's been great having no period and no worries for the past 4 years! I will probably be getting mine removed at the end of the year though so we can start trying for our third child!!

I have the ParaGard IUD, and I love it! It is so wonderful not to have to worry about birth control. I've had it for a year, and have had absolutely zero problems or side effects.
For those of you who do not have health insurance, or are financially strapped, Planned Parenthood can help you out.

I was wondering if any others out there switched birth control pill brands and what they did. I did wait longer than the 7 days stated in the "insert" so I guess I'm covered.

The new Seasonique is working great...no surprises either! IT's great not having a period every month...the one I did have only lasted maybe 3 days and I had no side effects during it either.

Aaaah!! I could feel it all the time!! And yes, it was put in correctly.
I'm on Myrcette/Kariva (generic). I love it for the most part. It's a very low dosage and on the off week, 5 of the 7 pills have a tiny tiny bit of hormone in them to help avoid migraines (ha, see Migraine post.. it obviously doesn't work that well on that part).
And regarding the Seasonal- if you are on a mono-phasic pill (one constant dose), you can skip your period anyway and move right on to the next month's pills. I was once given extra prescriptions (instead of 12/year) for this. It worked. But I kind of like the reminder... keeps the paranoia down.
