MUSEUMS ARE ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TO DO. We sometimes take vacations based on what museums we can hit on the way there or whats going on at them. I would like to start a thread based on awesome museums. which ones we truely worth the time and money and what ones we not. which ones were good for kids and which ones were good for adults, ect.

Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, PA. We went there last week, very awesome. $10 for adults and $6 for the teen (student price), can't remember how much for seniors and little ones. Huge, well thought out, and not at all boring. Cafe there as well. Parking was $5.
Kids can make their own headress, plenty of seating throughout to rest the feet. As far as exhibits, WOW. You will not be disappointed.:)

I love museums as well!
I haven't been to all of the Smithsonian museums, but I did enjoy the ones I have been to. I've been to the Air & Space Museum, Natural History Museum, and the National Museum of American History. We especially enjoyed the Air & Space Museum and the Natural History Musem. The dinosaur fossils are truly amazing! The American History museum is where the Hollywood memorabilia is, which is also a lot of fun.
We've also been to the International Spy Museum (also in D.C.). It was a lot of fun, but it was very, very crowded. I'd suggest going to that one during an off-season. We went during the Christmas holidays and it was packed! It's hard to see everything when a museum is that crowded.
Although they are not technically museums, I also really enjoyed visiting Mt. Vernon (George Washington's estate) and Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's house). Mt. Vernon is especially awesome! It is amazing to see how they lived without computers, technology, and without a modern kitchen!
In a less notable place; Yuma, AZ has a territorial prison museum which is interesting. When we lived in Yuma, we visited several times and never got bored:

I need to get off of here for now, but I will post about more museums later!

The Museum Of Nature History in Chicago, as a kid in school, it was part of the field trips we went on, I can still remember the Indian exhibits, they were awesome, and of course the mummies....I can only imagine what it like now, I did do a search and it looks as tho it has expanded a whole lot!......I wish there was a museum near us here in Big Bear....

I went to a museum in Chicago when I was 14, but I can't remember which one it was. I believe it was a science and engineering museum? It was neat! I went there with a church group, and my boyfriend and I accidentally on purpose got separated from the group. We had a blast!

the museum of windmills is actually cool. especially if you are intrested in alternative energy. it is in kendallville, in.
The cinncinati museum of art is very nice. plus it's free!!! many famous works.
The museum of atomic testing is in las vegas. I really liked it. its a good mix of politics, physics, and history.
