I was really impressed with this sample. I made the red potato recipe that came with it. Oh, boy were they great. My family just kept raving and raving about it, saying they were the best potatoes they ever ate. You are only supposed to use each bag once, but I have already used the bag twice today. Has anyone else had any success with the bags?

Yes, I like the bags as well. I haven't tried potatoes in them yet, but I want to. I just need to remember to buy some!

Have you made an entire meal in one? I'd like to, but I don't know where to start.

No, I haven't tried an entire meal in one. But that sounds awesome. There are several recipes on this site. It's amazing, you can even make omelets. lol.

Do these bags come in different sizes? That potato recipe sounds really good, maybe I will try that! I haven't heard anyone say they haven't liked these yet, I did see a commercial for them and they were pricey.

They come in medium and large. The one I had was medium, and it was not that big. It makes about 4 servings. I was wondering about the price. The sample came with a coupon, so maybe I'll get to buy them.

They gave this out at my Wal-Mart 2 weeks ago and even made the potatoes as taste sample! They were delicious and worked great! Not sure if the bags are big enough for me to cook a whole meal in it for my family or not, but it's worth a try!! I haven't cooked anything in them yet!

I was looking for the price on these and saw that they were 15.99 for 44 bags, if ordered on line, and that they will be in the stores mid August and should cost about $2.79 a box (7 or 10 bags depending on size purchased). If you can use them 2x that wouldn't be too bad I guess.

I do like them, don't get me wrong. But, I feel like they are pricey, so I'm not sure if I'll actually be buying them or not. There's also the environmental factor to consider. Do we really need another throwaway item?

You are right, we live in an overpackaged, throw-away world, I have a metal steamer that I use, works very well for steaming....I still have not tried the sample....I think I will give it try today and make those potatoes.

I havent tried my sample yet Im single and it is easier to buy the frozen Bird's Eye Steamfresh veggies or the Green Giant Simply Steam veggies. I get them on sale with coupons and they arent too expensive. The Birds Eye are the easiest----pop the whole bag in the microwave, pull it apart at the top sides and pour in the bowl. The Green Giant arent much harder, you just have to take the bag out of the cardboard box and you cant pull the bag apart like the BE. Love em!

I cooked lemon-pepper Tilapia in my bag. . . tasted great, and there was no messy cleanup. It cooked so much faster that my house didn't smell like fish too badly either.:D

I love them. And I know they tell you not to reuse them but I am too cheap for that. I rinse them out and store them in the freezer. The zipper is a lot harder to close when they are reused but it can be done.

why do you store them in the freezer? Is there a special reason?

I guess I store them in the freezer because I just rinsed them out and wasn't sure they were clean enough to safely store in a drawer. So I just stuck them in the freezer next to my veggies so I would remember to use the bag once more before getting out a new one.

At the grocery store they had the Glad Steam Bags on sale for $2.99 for 10 bags, but they were too small for me, something like 5 x 9, if they were a bit bigger I would of tried them.

The Glad bags were on sale at Lowes for 2/$10. I wonder about them. I also saw some from McCormick in the newspaper. Seems like everyone is jumping on this wagon.

Ok I tried them and they did work but I followed one of the recipes that came with it for the Garlic and butter potatos an it was way too much Garlic. I ended up throwing them out and quickly making mashed potatos for dinner that night. I don't know if I will spend the money on them. If I do I know I won't make the potatos again.

You could make the potatoes without so much garlic. I made some potatoes in one and my family went nuts! I added about 1 tblsp. olive oil, 1/2 tsp each paprika, salt, and about 1/4 tsp. pepper. I also threw in about a teaspoon of minced garlic. You can reduce that amount or leave it out if you want. :)

lol, kids! if it isn't sugar coated....have you ever tried to put some cheese sauce over the broccoli? or some ranch salad dressing? tastes really good like this....I use to tell my kids, you have to try atleast 1 bite, and then if you don't like it you do not have to eat it, there will be more for dad and me....they eat it all now, except peas, sometimes it just takes growing up and acquiring a taste for veggies.

funny you say putting cheese on broccoli. that is how my mom got me to eat it as a kid. but i love it now in the steam bags. just some butter, salt and pepper - maybe some baby carrots. but i can still eat it with cheese, still yummy. i never acquired a taste for peas, YUCK!

Yes, I've tried everything! I do the same thing, Carol. They must take one bite. You should see the look on their faces before, then after if it's something they end up liking, LOL!

Interestingly, my kids would eat vegetables when they were toddlers. It seems like one day, they just decided they didn't like them and that was it. The mind of a child truly bewilders. They'll eat corn on the cob, but not corn off the cob. Sigh!

I'm actually not much of a fan of broccoli. I can eat it if it's hiding in something, like lasagna. And, I love cream of broccoli soup. But, by itself, I have to choke it down. My kids snigger at me when they see me do it. Rotten kids. I tell them I eat it because it's good for me.

I love cooking veggies in them at work - they come out perfect! I've tried peas, corn, broccoli, and brussell sprouts and they were all great (if you like those veggies!!). They retain their color and most of all their taste. Try them!

I bought both the small and large bags when I went grocery shopping earlier this week, I tried the small bag yesterday with Broccoli and in 3 minutes it was done perfect, the Broccoli was bright green and not watered down, I am impressed! and I can use the bag again. Can't wait to try this with corn on the cob! 736
