My husband and I used to smoke in the house. I was wandering how do we get the yellow film from smoking off the walls. I have painted the ceiling but I don't want to or have the time to paint the walls. My walls are drywall with like a wallpaper attached to them. I am getting my house appraised and want to clean the walls down. Plus we don't smoke anymore so it would be nice to have a clean wall to match the ceiling.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks
Becky

Good old TSP and water should help you clean the walls, TSP is cheap, and you can find it at any grocery store or mass merchandiser. Good to hear you do not smoke anymore!!!

To get the high places and save your arms and back use a mop with what ever cleaner you are using. You can also repaint.

The first house my husband and I rented when we got married the people who previously lived there had smoked in the house...and we are not smokers...so I took everyone's advice and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned those white walls...no hope...until, my uncle who was a very heavy smoker suggested buying the Kilz and painting over the walls first, then painting to freshen everything up...so we did that...and while I was at Wal-Mart I noticed some small packets hanging up...it's scents that you can add to your paint to tone down the paint smell as well as freshen the room...and they're only $1 a pack. So nothing really helped other than painting...I know you probably didn't want to hear that since you said you didn't want to paint the walls...but that's the only thing I could find that helped and we hunted for a solution for two years!!!!!!!!!!

Mr Clean's Magic Eraser works wonders for this and all kinds of marks on the walls as well!!
