Has anyone been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel? If so I am interested in hearing if you chose to have surgery or opted for other treatment, and if it worked. I was just diagnosed and went yesterday for cortisone shots in my wrist to see if that will relieve the pain before surgery is an option. I have heard mixed things about surgery.

Know two women who went for the surgery.

First one suffered injuries in an auto accident (hit by a pothead who ran the light). Among other injuries, they ended up with carpal tunnel bad enough that they could not lift a plate or turn a doorknob, coupled with severe pain. Surgery successfully resolved all of the problems going on 20 years now.

Second one suffered long term cumulative work trauma to their wrists (R&D lab). Constant severe pain, braces, cortisone shots...you name it, they tried everything the doctor wanted them to do to reduce the pain and disability. After 5 years of messing around with various treatments, they went for the surgery and have not had any issues in the past 10 years.

My dad and step-dad had the surgery and it worked wonders for them.

I am on my way to having full blown carpal tunnel....I already wear the wrist wrap when I am at work.

Thanks for the info.

Brandy I have been talking to or seeing with the dr almost daily. He said when you are driving and sleeping is the most important time to wear the brace. I had been wearing mine only at work, and not the other times. I am hoping to see improvement now that I am wearing it more.

I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist...but since I no longer work it does not hurt anymore....that old repetative motion has stopped. I do have a wrist brace that I wear if I scrub something to hard, or using a screw driver will set it off...but I have been lucky it has not bothered me is a long time.

I would definately wear that brace if you are hurting. You are so young to have that problem!! I hope you feel better soon.
