This is starting to get ridiculous. If companies like Fisher-Price are letting things like this happen, what company can you trust?? You would think that more regulations to prevent this from happening would be in place- alot of these things are BABY toys. I don't understand how lead paint could be used in the first place- how ignorant.

**(They will send you a pre-paid envelope to send back the affected toy and if it is in the recall will send you a voucher for a toy of the same value).

Thanks for the heads up on this one. The list of toys affected is huge. Mattel has a helpful list with the names and pictures of the toys on their website.

Here's the link to Mattel's list with the pictures of the toys:

I do not want a coupon for another toy. Who knows on down the road it may be recalled. What's happened in the U.S. that company's are getting so greedy that they send U.S. work to other countries that don't care about our safety, or our precious children? Call company's and let them know how you feel.

Thank you so much for this information. Luckily the toys I have were bought before the dates given so I am in the clear.

My daughter has one of the toys on the list. It was bought before the dates they gave, so it's supposed to be safe. I still went ahead and took it away from her though.

I'm so disgusted with so many of our products coming from China. It seems like every single time I look at something to see where it was made it says "Made in China." I would really be willing to pay a little extra to get products that I know are safer and NOT made in China.

It even makes me nervous buying juice for my daughter. Almost every single bottle of juice says "China" on it or it doesn't say anything at all - which says a lot to me. I've contaced Gerber and Juicy Juice about their juices and they both said that they get A LOT of their juice from China, but they assured me it is safe. Yeah, right! I'm sure Fisher Price would have said all their toys were safe a month ago too.

Agreed! The stores give us little choice, though. Brother and his wife expect their little one soon, so I found myself looking for teething toys--every single one made in China, regardless of brand or store I went to yesterday. I'm not giving a child a Chinese-made teething toy. Is the paint safe? Is the water inside really sterile? Is the gel inside really non-toxic? Is the plastic really phthalate free? There's no way to tell from just looking at it, and all of the assurance letters and contracts and setting standards and expectations with the manufacturer overseas and promises printed on the package don't mean a thing if the USA importer doesn't follow up with some testing of their own frequently.

One of the co-owners of the Chinese toy factory that made all of these defective Mattel/Fisher Price toys committed suicide. In the past couple of months, the Chinese government has sentenced a couple of their former food and drug agency officials to death for accepting bribes (including allowing several drugs to go to market without testing--fifteen died from a bad antibiotic). China has a long way to go to clean up this problem. Here's the link for the article on the toy manufacturer which includes a blurb towards the end about a reporter who hired workers to make steamed buns with cardboard for a possibly faked expose (who knows, it's China)--like the real problem isn't bad enough:
