Ok, so I have 2 MS walks next month in support of my mother. I have found quite a few shirts from Cafe Press that I thought about ordering. They are about $20-25 each plus shipping and I am afraid that if I don't order them now that I won't have them for the walk. Then again I don't know how much I can spare right now for a shirt. Do you guys think that I should maybe make my own shirt for one (one is April 4th and April 18th) and then order one for the other? My mom will be doing on with me but I am not sure which one yet. I just really don't know what to do and what to make the shirt say if I do make one. I could make the shirts I saw that I liked. These are the ones I was looking at buying though:

Thanks for your suggestions.

You could alway look into local printing shops, if you didnt have time to wait for one to ship. Chris's shop prints same day, you supply the shirt and he does the screen print for cheap.

That is what Cafe Press does, so by the time I got the shirt and all that stuff and drove out there I would be at about the same as Cafe Press. I can catch free shipping on the shirt if I order from them by a certain time.

A couple of questions. Do you think you will continue to wear the shirt? Do you have any friends who will be walking with or who would be interested in wearing a shirt?

I plan on wearing the shirt quite a lot, but if I make it and let it dry for awhile I have had good luck with them not falling apart. Plus if I make one and buy one then I will have two to wear. I am trying to round up some friends not but I know my mother will walk with me on one, and Seth will walk with me on the other. Not quite sure who else. I think Seth's SIL is going to do one also.

In that case I would have a shirt making party. You can pick up a couple of paints pretty reasonable and get shirts for everyone and just split up the cost of everything evenly among everyone.

That is what I was thinking. I could have my girlfriends over while Seth is gone and we can get them done with. Plus I think making a shirt will mean more to her, I can buy one later.

Very true. I just had another thought. If you want to stand out you could use white shirts and tie-dye them orange before you paint them and then just paint with black paint.

OMG!! I have a tie-dye kit at home and I wanted to do them while Seth is gone. I never thought about that one!! Thanks so much for the idea. That is totally what I am going to do. I will have to set the kit together and get them prepared and start them Wednesday night!!! That is an idea I never thought about.:D

Do you think I should do this for both? I am making Seth one also!

I think I would just use the same shirt for both walks that way everyone will have the same shirt regardless of which walk everyone else decides to do.

That is a good idea!!
Now what should the wording say? I want to put something on both the front and back but don't know what to say. I know mine will say "for my mother" somewhere and Seth's will say "for my future mother in law" somewhere. That is all I know:confused:

How about the wording only from the second one centered on the front and then across the back (on shoulders) something like "TEAM _____" (whatever your mom's first name is. Or you could reverse the whole thing and put "TEAM _____" on the front left and the rest of the wording centered on the back.

Good idea! Hopefully I can get enough to make a team. If not then I will just put something about supporting the research or find a cure.

I think that even if you can't get enough people to make a team by their standards you could still call yourselves a team in that you are all there to support your mom. Just a thought...:)

Ya that is true. Even if I am by myself I am a good enough team to support my mom.

I'm not sure if you have a CVS near you, but I was in one today. They have their summer t-shirts in right now 5 for $10. They seem to be pretty good quality.

We have one right by our house. Thanks for letting me know! I will stop in tomorrow and get some. I make t-shirts all the time so I can save the extras. I have a breast cancer walk in October and have to make a new shirt since one of the people I walked that for last year lost her battle. But thanks for all the help ladies! It really means a lot.

They are soaking today and I will start dying them tomorrow night. I have had more people add to our team, so I am trying to find out the final number today so I can get the remaining shirts. I am very excited though!!:D

I wish you did too. I used this spray tie dye that I saw at the store, and they didn't dye like I wanted them to. I can add more orange with paint, and make the orange ribbon like I wanted, but I think I can work it out. I think I might do one for the breast cancer walk too!! I should have them finished by the morning, so I will post pictures tomorrow!!:D

We finished the walk! My mom did the whole mile!!!!!!! It was great, after they had burgers and bags full of stuff for everyone. So much better than the Breast Cancer walk! They were so nice to everyone, they had fruit, nuts, and water at different places through out the walk. I can't wait for the one in Nashville in 2 weeks! I will be getting a shirt at that one for raising over $125, and I am giving it to my mother!! I am also taking money this time and getting some MS Awareness bracelets and stuff. They also give you little metals for finishing the race saying MS Walk 2009! I will get pictures up as soon as I can! We are about to leave to go on a date night!!!!! Today is a great day and nothing can get me down:D My mom was so happy to see our shirts and how much we cared. I just hope in Nashville I can win one of the gift cards they give away!! They had ones from $25-150 to all different places!!!

That's great Ashley! I'm so happy to see good hearted people like you, out there helping make a difference and just being involved in great things like that. Also, you did a good job with the shirts! Congrats on raising over $125! :D
