PURPLECOLA

Hello everyone ~
Normally i keep a low profile online, if you'll pardon the pun, so a lot of you probably don't even know that i visit this site every day :)
I wouldn't normally burden anyone with this kind of thing, but i'm rather at my wits' end, so i'm once again turning to the power of prayer...
Last week my 14 yr old son underwent a routine CT scan on his sinuses in an effort to figure out why he suffers from so many sinus/ear infections. While there was a "routine" cause to the problem which can easily be fixed (he has bilateral Haller cells), an incidental finding has prompted his primary care physician to ask for an immediate MRI of the brain, with and without contrast. The finding was a 2.5x1.6 cm arachnoid cyst in the left temporal fossa ~ in other words, he has a cyst in the lining of his brain. This helps explain the debilitating headaches, dizziness, (we always blamed the sinus/ear infections!) and the weakness on one side of his body. This is a benign growth, there is no cancer, and a neurosurgeon may opt to simply treat symptoms for a time while "keeping an eye on the cyst", or they may opt to drain and remove it. we just don't know at this point what they'll want to do.
Whether or not they decide to remove the cyst, it's terrifying just to think of something being "wrong with" your child's brain! I won't ask for a miraculous disappearance of the cyst {c'mon, i'm not greedy! ;)} but i ask for prayers of strength and peace for PD (my son) and for the rest of our family. He is quite calm and unconcerned on the outside, but i know that he is torn up on the inside.
He gets his MRI done tomorrow; might be a week before we hear anything from the doc... we see an ear/nost/throat spec. on 3 April re: his sinus problems, so as soon as i know anything i'll let y'all know.
For prayers, for freebies, for laughs... i thank every one of you! you're all so very kind!!
God bless you all!
