Help with new puppy,we just aquired a new puppy( we don't really need) and she is a cry baby, we are told she is about 8 wks old, healthy and eats goodd, We have one problem, sleeping at night, how do I get her to sleep at night, she doesn't want to be alone and hubby has work and daughter has school, she cries and howls, we tried a stuff animal, warm blanket, night light, putting her in a basket next to the bed. Please any advice would be great. She was found sitting in the road, we were told dhe looks part lab, she is mainly black with white feet and a white chest with her nose area white, and has big feet.

Our puppy did this for a few days, but we have another dog also. We would let him lay at the foot of our bed for a few days and make sure the bedroom door was shut, and he seemed to be fine after a few days. If that doesn't work I would ask a vet.

Do you have a clock that tick tocks put that in her bed. and try to keep the pup awake for 2 hours before bed and wear her out. Good luck and she will out grow this after a while she is probibly used to sleeping with other pups.

Having a puppy is like having a baby! Bunny is right, she will outgrow it. May just have to wait it out.

Ya you definatily have to wear that puppy out. We have to do this because otherwise he wakes up at all hours and whines or barks.

Last night was alittle better, only because she slept on my bed, which I am not crazy about, but I guess it will be ok for now.

yes I know it is, we have another dog she is 13 and she got up there as a puppy but once she got older she won't even think about it, and I am so glad for that.
I want to thank everyone for there advice I sure it will all come in handy.

OK, tomorrow: the puppy's favorite person needs to wear an old t-shirt (sweatshirt, etc) all day long, so it gets that person's scent all over it. Tomorrow night, that t-shirt becomes part of the pup's bedding. If Little Miss Fuzzybutt has your scent nearby, maybe she won't be so lonely. Also, make sure the kennel's not too big for her. And playplayplay with her before bedtime, wear her out good and proper. Worked on our pitbull when she was little, and pitbulls are busy dogs!
Good luck,
Beth
Oh, I forgot this part! At bedtime, tell her it's time to kennel, give her some extra lovin's, put her in and shut the gate. Go to bed. She whines, cries...get up, take her outside, tell her it's time to kennel, put her in & shut the gate. Go to bed. Everyone has to do the exact same thing. She'll learn. Eventually, you'll be able to tell her "kennel" and she'll go in!

Little Miss Fuzzybutt that is great! haha! We have never kennel trained a dog before (which sometimes I think it is a good idea). We are just too broke to buy one. Our puppy probably could have used one but eventually he grew out of the night time behavior.

puppies will do that!!! everytime we had a new puppy my hubby and I would sleep with them in the livingroom just so they wouldn't cry.once they get older it'll be better.we also did the stuffed animal and a ticking clock that seemed to help also and once she gets older start crate training her
