I was wondering if anyone knows a really good way to raise donation money. I am wanting to do a 3 day MS walk in North Carolina. It is at the end of May but I have to raise $1500 in donations to get my spot. I really want to do this for my mother, I know she would be so proud. I also wanted to do the 3 day (60 mile) Breast Cancer Walk, but you have to raise $2300. This walk is 50 miles in 3 days. I have always wanted to do one of these, and doing it for my mom would make it that much better. If anyone has any donation suggestions, please let me know!:o

Call your cities Chamber of Commerce, they can give you the help you need, or steer you in the right direction. Every city has regulations on how to proceed with any type of fund raising....what you need to do to ensure funds you may collect, and any type of permit you may need, etc.

A lady at my church and her adult children raise money for the MS walk up here. Her husband has MS. She prints out a letter stating what they are doing and why they are doing it and sends it out to all the people who know their husband/father. She gets quite a bit just by doing that. I also know that her husband's former employer and her employer also donate some money.

I just want to say good luck. The non-profit world is really suffering right now (I know because I work for one) and people are not giving very much anymore. I can say I don't blame them at all for the way things are right now.
You might actually want to call the places you are raising money for. They employ people who do nothing but direct fundraising efforts and they are the best people to ask for suggestions.

Thanks for the help. I am going to ask most the people that work at our office cause they know my mom and really support her. I am also going to ask friends to help out. If I can't come up with enough after that I will have to figure something else out. I have decided to do the MS Bike now cause my friend is going to do it with me and that is $300 I think. I guess I need to do it all one step at a time.
