What day of the week do you do your heavy cleaning? Or do you have somebody come in and do it weekly? I'm a monday morning heavy duty cleaner then I can just maintain the house the rest of the week. As much as I dread cleaning I always love monday evening everything looks extra good!

I do mine on Sunday. Before the start of the week. That way its just a touch up thru the rest of the week.

Some of my family and I are a bunch of lazy procrastinators, LOL!

And now that we live in a two story home, it's like cleaning two houses. And I noticed that our house gets dustier and dirtier much quicker than our previous house. My family and I start sneezing and coughing (allergies) but what puzzles me is that why it gets so dusty so fast? My two suspicions is the traffic near our backyard and two, the on-going construction in our community. My dad had even put those new filters for the air conditioning for allergy-reduction or something like that. I don't know why and how to do it to reduce all the dust. Any suggestions?

P.S. To give you an idea how fast the dust settles in so quick, after I clean my bathroom, about two days later, I start to see dust forming on the counter or tissue box.

I know dust build up in two days may seem like a lot.Vut I live in the country on a rock road I have to light dust daily.Thank goodness for swiffer.

The next time your at walmart go look at filters its a real simple job changing them. The more you pay the better style you can get. Be sure to change filters often.Look at your furnace locate the current filter get your size from that. good luck ! :)

Oh, good idea!! Thanks so much for the advice.

Good thing I still have my Swiffer Duster sample. But looks like I'll need to buy a lot of them. I tried it before and it does work terrific, except I wasn't too please with that one long pole extender or whatever it was called. Whenever I wanted to clean high places or corners it easily bent.

What can I use to reach high places and corners? :)

I like to do mine on Thurday's...this way the house is clean for the weekend and I don't have to spend time then doing it.

I try to do a bit each day. At least once a week one room gets the complete going over and scrubbed top to bottom. It usually takes two days with all the "mommy this and mommy that" interuptions. We try to keep things pretty much picked up for the most part. If I have at least a 20 minute warning I can have our house guest ready.

I've never used the one with the long handle. For hard to reach places I use my webster. I love it and would buy another one in a heartbeat!

I try to clean everyday, I cannot sit still anyways, so I do a little everyday and everything stays pretty clean, not to mention the kids are grown, and it is just the 2 of us! but I like things in their place!
I use old rags, I have a huge stack of rags that can handle almost anything that needs to be cleaned, along with every cleaner known to man, lol might as well make it fun, I am still waiting for Mr. Clean to come and do the chores for me!

My mother-in-law is at our house every Tuesday and Friday to watch our 9 month old daughter, so I am always up late cleaning the house on Monday and Thursday nights. It's not that my house ever gets very bad, but I don't want anyone, especially my in-laws, in my house if it's not neat and clean. I'm not sure what's worse to clean up after, my husband, our daughter, or our dog. LOL I think it's a pretty close tie between the three.

I have a chore assigned to each day of the week:
Sunday:change sheets,mop
Monday:vacuum,laundry
Tuesday:dust/clean up walls/doors
Wednesday:vacuum
Thursday: laundry(again), windows/mirrors/tv/computer
Friday: bathrooms,kitchen sink
Saturday: vacuum
Throughout the week I clean the kitchen(usually 2xday with sweeping, wiping counters, etc) and pick up toys, etc!
If I do something each day, then I am not bogged down with all my chores on one day! It seems to work for our household.

I clean something each day. I don't want to kill myself getting it all done in one day. I have things to do each day and if I get them done I look for something else to do.

Since I own a home daycare, I have to clean my home everyday. This includes vacuuming, dusting and mopping. Dishwasher is ran 2x a day. I do deep cleaning on Saturdays though, this includes laundry, changing all the beds and a through clean of the bathroom.

With six kids and a husband, cleaing is every day of the week! lol Of course, the kids are each assigned chores to do, so that helps. I think my biggest chores are laundry and dishes. I probably do 3 loads a day, but sometimes more, depending on if a "certain" item of clothing is needed. Friday is my biggest deep cleaning day. I spend so much time during the week cleaning, that I don't want to be stuck inside on the weekend too. I am anxious for school to start back up now though, as I'd like to find the inside of my house again!! I can't seem to keep it picked up with all the kids at home!!! :D

My boyfriend and I have a 14 month old plus 10 cats. Cats comein the house and go outside into their little play fenced in area. I clean from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed. I have to vac*** so much because of cat hair and seems as though the baby always finds some piece of paper to tear to pieces. Everytime I walk on the kitchen floor it is gritty. I sweep several times a day!! and laundry....just for the 3 of us I wash 1-2 loads a day. Everytime I turn around curtains need to be washed, couch covers, bed linens, cat bedding..UGH! Baby spills milk at least once a day....gotta bring out the carpet cleaner! I cook for us and my mom and dad each night. I feel I spend all my life in the kitchen. This forum is really MY TIME of the day when I feel relaxed. Calgon take me away!!

I pick 1 room each day to do a thorough cleaning. but I do laundry, dishes and kitchen every day vacume every 2 days bathrooms every 2 days and the tightening up every day. I try to get up with the Hub. around 4:00 am so I can get a lot done before the kids get up. yard and garden get done by all of us . I usually try to take care of oil changes and car maintenance my self (then I know it's done). Saturdays and Sundays are for family time .

I can afford to have my home cleaned 2x a week by a professional. I love it after many years of doing it myself. It leaves me more time to volunteer at hospitals and the veteran's hospital around here. :)
