Freebies?
My first freebie experience was way back in 1996. I was on America Online and a friend of mine in chat was telling me about a pen sample she got. I immediately went on Alta Vista and plugged in the words free sample.....
Well, my whole world changed after that!!! I cannot tell you how much stuff I have gotten for free. And now forums like here? I love it!!!! :D
My name is roxanne and I am a freebie addict. You do know why there is no freebies anonymous group? Because none of us want to stop!

I first discovered samples on line about 10 years ago, but it became an addiction 2 years ago. Can I say I have been hooked ever since then?? I have received awesome samples, some have resulted in me buying the product now.

I started "double couponing" more than 20 years ago and many of the items would be free. I attended a small church and everyone collected coupons for me. A store near me doubled unlimited coupons every day! I clippped the coupons and stocked a "pantry" to help those in need. I did not know until that time that food stamps could not be used to by toilet articles & paper goods - toothpaste, shampoo, toilet tissue, soap. I tried to spend the money I had available for those items. People in the church would sometimes give me money for the program and I would buy meat, frozen foods & juice. The company I worked for contributed money for a freezer and shelving. I enjoyed doing this for many years, then we moved to another community. I don't know if the program was continued.

My mom has been double couponing since before I was born. I followed in her footsteps, but did her one better. When I was in Mississippi, one of the grocery stores had triple coupons. Suave shampoo was $0.79 per bottle, and yours truly had $0.25 coupons....I had 4 of those, and I had 2 buy 2, get one free coupons...So, all together, I paid $0.20 for 6 bottles of shampoo that we used!!! :D
I use my coupons at Walgreens all the time...I am big on their easy saver rebate for Glade. I did the flameless candles deal....$5.99 on sale, I had $5.00 off coupons, and got a $2.00 Register Reward for each one....
Then I got the scented oil candles on sale, plus my mfr. coupon, PLUS my register rewards, PLUS my easy saver rebate....they paid me $1.00 PER candle to take them out of the store...and I gave them as gifts! :D

I started with the coupons before I was ever married....never knew about FREE samples until just a few years ago. Did some demos, so I knew you could get them in the stores, but just found out about all the freebies you could get online not to long ago! LOVE it!!

I haven't been using coupons or collecting samples for all that long. I started sampling online about two years ago but within the last year it's become an everyday thing. I started collecting coupons about a year ago also. I have a feeling I will always sample and clip coupons! What's better than saving money when you can?

Yes I am, I've only been on line since 1997.....I never thought I would have any use for a computer, HA, now I would just about kill if someone took it away.
I have been using coupons for so many years! I always wanted to save where I could.
I don't remember my mom using coupons, but I do remember her stocking up on things when they were on sale, like the time she had me go buy multiple cases of coffee when it was on sale for something like 2 dollars for the then 3pound can of Folgers.

I first found freebies online when we got our first home computer and went online in the summer of 1986! :D
I joined Start Sampling in April 2000 (they used to offer frequent and awesome samples/tryer mile rewards back then) but did not stumble across the Start Sampling freebie forums until the summer of 2007. :)
I have been hooked since 1986 :) and over the years have received some amazing free items! My mother also appreciates "my finds" as often do my siblings and in-laws! :D

Me too, Carol! I had absolutely no interest in having a computer. Finally, my hubby talked me into it. My very favorite thing about having a computer is the people I meet. I am very shy, but meeting people online has helped me immensely in real life.
As for freebies and such, it all started for me shortly after I got married. I noticed rebates and started doing those, and clipping coupons, of course. Then, I subscribed to a magazine called Freebies magazine. Not even sure if it's still around. Okay, just checked and here's a website:
http://www.freebies.com/
But it says June issue on it, so I guess it's not being updated anymore.
I can remember doing the Walgreen's rebate catalog while I was pregnant with my son, who's getting ready to turn 13! I love, love, love the fact that Walgreen's has saved us so much money over the years.
Anyway, that's how I got started. I became a member of SS in 1999, and discovered the forums nearly two years ago.

I got my first computer from my daughter, it was an old thing that barely worked, but it taught me a lot...like almost throwing it out the window...lol, but back then I was on dial up too....along with a computer that was even slower than dial up....I've had 3 new computers since then, and if I had the money I would be buying another new one!!

Yeah! I am self-taught too! I'm on my second one, and wish I could get another one too! My son won this one in 2002 by participating in the library's summer reading program, so I can't complain about it at all though!
