Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Free Books For Kids ages birth-5yrs.

I could not find this in a search but maybe you all already know about this. In the county that I live in ( Greene County, NC) there is a program at the elementary school called Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. It is a free book program for kids from birth to 5 years old. Someone in the community told me about it and I went to the school and filled out a form about it. My daughter has been receiving a new book every month since birth! Books such as The Little Engine That Could and numerous other noteable titles. They are very nice hard cover books. I know that it is not available in all counties in NC. Surprised it is in this one cause this is such a small county! So, why not try to call your counties elementary school ( hehe we only have one) and ask if they participate in this. My understanding is the Dolly basically pays for the program herself because she believes that children should be able to access books. You do not have to be low income either to participate! Let me know how it goes.

Dolly does not pay for it. Your community pays for it. My community does not have it as we have parents as teachers which is a program where they come to visit you one day per month and educate you on how to educate your child. They give you lots of ideas but no books. Glad you have what you have I will continue to buy my Gavin lots of books.

I think it's neat to have our program. They actually tell you about it in the hospital and you sign up there. Someone visits you within the first month in your home so you are in your home envirnonment. They are very helpful and are certified teachers and you can call them about anything!
