Last night the heartland drug task force held there annual daddy daughter dance. What a wonderful event! My my daughter is 5 and after recently attending a wedding shes became a dreamer! This event was the perfect way to let her dress up like a princess. It was like a prom for a 5 year old!
Daddy was proud to have the honors and I enjoyed an evening alone! (after I got done crying over how nice and growed up she looked & emailing pics to everyone I could think of)
Do you have an event like this in or area?

I have this in my area through our neighborhood Girl Scout group. It is called a father/daughter dance. My daughter thought that was the greatest. If your daughter is in school and in Girl Scouts make a suggestion. If not wait until she starts kindergarten and then do it. It never hurts. Its alot of fun. I did volunteer work and helped with ours. It was alot of fun watching the little ones with their daddies.

we are getting ready to start school at the end of may she'll do summer school for one month take a short break and start for the season.
I just filled out papers for girl scouts and can't wait. I have been den leader and cub master now I get to help with girl scouts.( I have two boys 19 & 21)
Before the dance on friday she had a hair appt to get an up do. ( I didn't even know what that was)There must have been 15 or 20 little girls in there getting there hair done.I thought now this is a great event but I sure wish I could go and see the other little girls!
Good idea I should check into volunteering next year!

We just had our Father/Daughter dance this Friday. This is my 9 year olds 6th time. It is put on by our church. I even make a wrist corsage for my daughter and matching one for my husband. They grow up too fast!

Oh, these were wonderful! Our Girl Scout Father/Daughter dances in elementary school were the best! My DH and daughter had a ball dressing up and going out. Some of the Dads wear tuxes when the theme is dress up. One year my daughter dressed in a beautiful oriental outfit that my husband had brought back from Singapore... complete with matching shoes... and since I work at a flower shop, she had beautiful fl**** hair combs holding her waist long hair back. During dinner at a Chinese restaurant beforehand they got the best table, even without reservations, and the owner came over to talk with them. (It's such an event here that you need reservations for most of the restaurants nearby.) My husband loved having a special occasion with our daughter and enjoyed catching up with local happenings with all the other Dads.

Its so good to hear how many dads partake in this event! I know we will all look forward to this every year.I know what you mean about reservations. being this was my first year I wasn't sure how to plan so I played it like a prom so glad we did because those that didn't have hair appts had to run around trying to find a place with openings.Same with dinner.

How many of the girls get left out because there is no father figure in there life. I think its a great idea but coming from someone who did'nt have a father or father figure I was always told that I couldn't participate.:(

Our church Father Daughter dance, mothers come if the father can't or isn't in the picture. I am glad to see more moms doing this. I grew up without a dad. He died when I was five. My mom would never have done this.

I've never heard anything about anyone being left out. Our troop leader is a single mom... I'll check with her. The Mom coming is an alternative. Maybe an uncle, older brother or cousin? Maybe with a best friend and her Dad? I know my husband and daughter would have made room for more. Let me add that our troop also has a special time with mom, too. One year we did Mother/Daughter wreaths at Christmastime with holiday refreshments. It was so much fun to see how everyone did something different and beautiful.

Becca had a wonderful time. Infact all I've heard is "I sure wish we had a daddy daughter dance every weekend" LOL! Daddy said it went well last year but this year was alot better but.. she is a year older so that helps. He also said the same thing as last year "did you know when one girl screams the entire room screams"LOL!

Wow, that year went fast! Glad they had a wonderful time! I get a kick out of one scream, all scream. I'm chaperoning the high school dances now and find that they may not scream anymore but it takes their entire posse to go to the restroom or come into the coat room for a stick of gum... LOL
