The certificates arrive quickly, and come with information about the company. The materials include a very handy listing of nearby retailers carrying their products, and even specifies which American Spirit products each retailer carries.

a carton is about $60 bucks before the coupon
$60 a carton seems really high based upon prices here in the Midwest, even after IA raised taxes $1 per pack this past year , and IL and WI also tax fairly heavily. But everything in Hawaii runs higher usually doesn't it--shipping isn't cheap. Even This Old House complained about Hawaii material prices with their apparently abundant budget.
Dad rolls his own, and that's what interested him in American Spirit, as they carry RYO tobacco, too. Cheaper by far to roll your own, and stops cigarette bummers, as they hardly ever want a hand rolled one. In the military, he used to keep one specially rolled one set aside to discourage cigarette bummers who persisted anyway--one rolled extra tight so it wouldn't draw well.

Called their toll free number to locate a retailer for the roll your own (RYO) tobacco. Their website will locate retailers for any of their cigarettes, but not the RYO tobacco. The rep was very nice and promptly located two stores in the nearest city for me. The tin, which contains enough tobacco and rolling papers for 200 cigarettes (a carton), ran $18.56 plus tax. Came to just a little over $18 with tax for two tins using the two $10 gift certificates--comes to $9 a carton with the certificates. Dad's labor for his RYO cigarettes cuts his cost per carton down significantly from $46 or whatever the ready made cigarettes are selling for now to $14 to $19 a carton, and he smokes fewer cigarettes as he must roll them.

When buying cigarette's off these websites, you could be at risk. Here is the story... My parents bought cigarette's off a website(which was owned by Native Americans that resided on a reservation). They have been doing this for a few years now. Cheap cigarette's at low cost right? WRONG. The PA state government found out about this and taxed them for EVERY CARTON THEY BOUGHT. Then they added a penalty tax to the amount. In the end they should have just bought them at the local market, because they ended up paying more for what they cost in our area. So please be careful when doing this, I don't know about your state and what they allow, but in the end it cost them lots and lots of money. :(

Wow, I hadn't heard of that before! I wonder how they tracked it since Indian government and US government are two seperate entities that never ever help one another out? Guess that is typical for Uncle Sam! Always wanting his part.
Not to worry thought, these are sold in normal retail stores, sometimes you have to get them at a smoke shop, but sometimes you can find them in grocery stores and drug stores too.

These cigarettes are really cheap here in Texas. Now the Merit's that I smoke, which are a premium brand that NEVER has sales or coupons, are over $60 a carton now. Gotta LOVE living in the Bible Belt!
Yet, when I was in Florida, in October, I bought my normal Merit Carton for only $38!!! Explain that to me! LOL
It may be a nasty habit to some people, but I guess we all have some habit that someone else would consider nasty, now don't we?;)

They sell American Spirit Cigarettes at some convenience stores and specialty shops. It comes with a partial list in your area. They're approximately $4.50 a pack. You can purchase separate packs to apply the coupon to.
Is there always this much controversy over tobacco products? I don't haven't see animosity on the post regarding alcohol related products. People are products of their environment. I live by the rule: Judge not, lest you be judge. If your not interested in the post, don't apply for it. If you feel you need to express your "opinion", it probably should be done in another forum. It's my understanding that post are meant to express satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the product YOU ORDER.:(

When you get a group of people together, there's always going to be some kind of disagreement at one time or another. Deciding what is and isn't offensive is a tough call, and a lot of times, it's just a matter of opinion. I truly hate deleting or editing people's posts, and I will only do it in what I consider to be extreme cases. If anyone is offended by something here that one of the Mods doesn't delete, please feel free to PM Admin about it.
As for the "dirty habit" comment. I was not offended by it, but I am not a smoker. I can see where someone would take it personally though. But, try to remember, this was just someone's opinion about smoking, and not an attack on anyone personally.
As for RQ's comment, it wasn't the nicest thing in the world to say, but it wasn't full of vitriol and hate either.
If anyone wants to complain, scroll on down to the Admin button! Won't hurt my feelings!

I rarely make comments like that. I am usually the one trying to make peace on this forum, some of which is not seen because it is by pm. When you do see me finally make a comment like that it is after I have turned the other cheek quite a few times and feel like it finally deserves the comment. I do not look for an opportunity to argue/cause trouble on here. I am totally amazed at how many people do though. I do not consider myself a favorite on this forum and if you think I get any special treatment, you are incorrect. Ask the moderators themseves, or please point out anywhere that you feel like I have been excused for doing something wrong/offensive.
I have a really hard time believing that you can compare the comment I made with the ones from the member who was recently banned and very disappointed that you feel the way you do about me.

It isn't easy to express an opinion in writing without it being taken differently than it was meant. However I have to say, many times when there is a disagreement or "haughty" conversation going on, you are in the middle of it. So how does that make it any better?
In reference to the catty remark about RQ being a "forum favorite", your remark was the exact thing that you get mad about with others. Besides, I don't know where that came from as she simply posts alot and tries to help, as many of us do. Many of us have become good friends in here. It may not be why we started coming, but that is how it ended up for some of us.
We all say/type things and, after submitting it, think that it might not come off quite right. We are all entitled to our opinions, and as a forum, we are never all going to agree with each other. Perhaps we just need to agree to disagree sometimes.

And the offenses go on and on and on....the point here, is that when someone posts something OFFENSIVE to ANYONE, a moderator should respond consistently. It is not just "a matter of opinion" when it comes to cattiness. In all honesty, the post that hebesgirl made was ((( AN OPINION))) -- more specifically a comment about smoking in general ...probably in regards to someone in her immediate environment and not about one person here or the people here who smoke; however, the snide remark about "considering the source" was crude. If the topic were having your nails done weekly, there will possibly be someone who feels that you could buy groceries with that money, because it could seem silly to have nails done weekly. She didnt name anyone specifically or bash rebate queen for being a smoker.
My main point is that the moderators here are selective about what they allow and who they allow it from. If Mom2fussbudgets says in one post that "name calling and cattiness, etc. will not be allowed ... Posts will be deleted", then the post should have been deleted, instead rebate queen modified her message only after I made a comment about it. Regardless of whether the moderators are unpaid volunteers, if they accept the position they should be fair to everyone in the forum; and whether they are friends or not with the person in question - the rules should be the same.

Did you ever consider the fact that maybe I hadn't seen the post until you pointed it out? I don't actually have time to read every single post that is posted in this forum. If the Mods don't see a problem, usually someone will alert us to it. No one had alerted the Mods about a problem though.
I didn't need to delete the post. I knew once Rebate Queen figured out someone had a problem with what she said, she'd fix it without any help from me.

This is a great offer. If you go to admiral tobacco you can get the can and a pouch of tobacco and also get a pkg of the tubes to roll your own. You will just have to pay taxes and about a dollar or so in total. Very nice post and it is still active.

Not only is the offer good, but after you have redemed your coupons some of you may even get a mail in offer for an entire carton free with just a $6. check to cover shipping. Trust me, they are a very reputable company. I've gotten many freebies, offers and other goodies from them. Last year I got a handy eyeglass cleaner/wiper, a travel ashtray (that I gave to a friend who smokes only N.A.S.), an organic cotton t-shirt and a recycled content tote bag that I use as a grocery bag.
They even sent me a seed-embedded birthday card made from 100% recycled paper that has been embeded with wildflower seeds and a Christmas card with a photo of all the company employees (of which there are less than 100).
They're environmentally friendly and hardworking. For a tobaco company, I'm impressed.
