I would be leery about handing out your drivers license number. Here is Calif to get any information from someones license they must fill out a form to access information, and I would get a copy letting me know who tried to access the information. I'd change a letter or number if you do this.

The offer is on the back of a pack of Black & Mild cigars, so I think this one is ok to do. Otherwise I would not have done it cause I know that is not something to just give out. I wasn't sure if I should have put where I found it from, but didn't think about the info you have to give out. It is a real offer though!

No problem. I figured I should have and then I thought no. Next time I will go with my gut:p I signed both Seth and I up since it didn't say one per household. He smokes them quite often, so he can have a case for his car and one for the house!

You must remember using your phone number will also give them permission to "telemarket" you. Your number can be sold also. Even if you are on the do not call list, YOU called them for business, they can now call you. Be aware! Good coments about licence numbers, remember your phone number too.

I don't give out my last 4 digits of my social or my license number unless it is a big business that I know sends their stuff. The beach towel and the ash trey are by the same company and they really come. If you ever get cigarette coupons, its the same people. I have never heard about them stealing someone's identity just from the last 4 digits of your social. Thanks for that info though. I will have to look into that. I won't give it out unless I know it is just them checking to make sure I am of age because they don't need any serious info like that otherwise.

I received this cigar case on 2/13. The parent company is Altria Group (owners of Philip Morris, makers of Marlboro). I don't think they are stealing anyone's identity or selling information to someone in Japan. I have seen in the past where cigarrette companies use license driver numbers to confirm age and not get in trouble for marketing to minors. If someone doesn't feel comfortable providing this information, skip the sample.

:eek:No one should ever give out their drivers license number. It can be used to access other personal data which in turn may lead to identify theft. Some states use the social security number for the drivers license number and that's the one key thing thieves are looking for. I'm praying that anyone who ordered this item doesn't get hurt in the end.

Well, I know with the Marlboro freebie.......you had to give your DL and me and hubby both got some really nice sleeping bags. Everyone just needs to decide for themselves............someone needs more than your DL to steal your identity. ;)

I got this about a week ago. It is nice, it has 5 slots for black and milds. As far as giving out your information, if you don't feel comfortable then don't but I only give it out to well known companies. Plus this offer was on the back of their black and milds, so I knew it was not fake since it is on their packaging. I understand people not wanting to give them out, but it is just really up to your own opinion, some of us don't mind when we know it is for real.
