we have all gotten them...wrong numbers. what was the funniest or strangest wrong number you have ever gotten?
Caller (C) Hello is Ken Potter there?
Me (M) Ahh no you have the wrong number.
C/ Oh Im sorry
M/ Did you ask for a Ken Potter?
C/ Yes.
M/ Now thats strange I have an uncle & cousin by that name.
After a few more minutes on the phone comparing notes on what he knew about Ken we found out that he WAS calling my cousin!

Weird! What are the chances?

I can't think of a phone call--but, I used to work with a guy. We got to know each other and became great friends. After I'd know him for awhile, my cousin showed up at our work. Turns out my co-worker-friend knew my cousin. Small world, eh?

Not a wrong number but a wrong package delivery. The company is in fl and the guy was in fl and the package ended up in Tn. The guys last name was the same as ours. And his phone number was on the receipt so my dh called him, come to find out his parents are from tn just about an hour up the road. Its a very small world sometime. We still have the parts the company never arranged to pick them up, and when we called they wanted us to pay to send them back to fl. I said I don't think so it's your mistake you call ups and fix it. That was almost six weeks ago, the guy received replacement parts, we still have a box of parts (retail value $110), and they are getting ready to go on ebay!!!

several months ago I would be getting people calling my cell by mistake... the numbers where the same as a country radio station but to call the station the people had to dial 1-800 first but they wouldn't so it would go to me.. people would be telling me to put on a song for them, and I would tell them you have the wrong number but some of them wouldn't get it! The kept telling me about songs and stuff it was funny sometimes...

One time also there was this man that called my number looking for Joseph and I told him you have the wrong number. That man kept telling me that Joseph had given him my number and he had to call it so that someone could give him the address to where he was going to send some money... I would hang up on this man but he sounded so worried about me not giving him the address. He would call at all times telling me he had all the money ready and he just wanted to know where to send it. Well I never did give him an address and ended up changing numbers... My brothers told me I should have given him my address so that he would have sent me the money... I said h3ll no! I don't want anyone coming after me later to get their money....scary stuff... ( I am pretty sure that man was wanting to pay off some drug debts)

My funniest phone call happened many many years ago. One of my DH friends called me and said, Mrs. P if you can sing me the Cambell's soup song I will send you a case of soup. (This ad was also on the radio) I was stunned and trying to remember the words....finally I remembered and started singing the song, mmmm, mmmm, good, mmmm, mmm, good, thats what Cambell's soups are, mmmm, mmm, good. THEN he bust out laughing! it was DH friend who sounded exactly like the guy on the radio!! I will never forget that, ever!

I used to get calls all the time for a service station and people would want to make appt. to get there cars fixed so after about 20 or more times and some not so nice messages on my answer machine about cars that should of been fixed and weren't I started to make appointments for the people when they called. finally the service station changed there number.

Several years ago we got a person to person long distance call for someone with the same first name as DH and the same last name except ours has an "S" on the end of it. The operator remained on the line as we tried to sort out who he was calling. He said the guy was a race car driver (so was DH!) I told him that DH was a "round track" race car driver and the other man with the same name was a "drag racer". He was trying to call the "drag racer". The operator was just laughing at this situation. Unfortunately we did not know the number for the "drag racer" but he did live in the same city as us.
It's a small world.:D

What great stories! I have not had anywrong numbers lately but I am guessing I will soon. In WI we ran out of phone numbers in our area code, so the brilliant polititions (lol) decided instead of dividing the existing area code they will just give the new area code to the people who get new numbers. So instead of remembering 7 numbers people will have to remember 10. So in theory, my next door neighbor could end up with the same phone number as me just different area code.

years ago when I was still married to my first husband we had the funniest thing happen. although it wasn't funny at first.

He was a truck driver so we had decided to get this 1-800 #.Well we got the number and not long after that I started getting odd calls on my home phone. They kept asking for this restaurant. It happened several times to me.Come to find out my babysitter was also getting these strange calls. We started thinking our house was being cased and they were calling to see when we were at home.

So this went on for like 3 weeks or more when finally one day the phone rang and I answered and this lady wanted to make reservations for dinner that night. I got mad and I got really snotty with this lady and said some horrible things luckily instead of her hanging up she said mam I don't know what your talking about I really just wanted to make dinner reservations isn't this ( can't remember the name) I said no its not and why do you people keep harassing me. Thanks to her help I realized my 1-800 number was actually there number and we were given it by mistake. So here all this time we're making sure we lock things up and keep an eye on all the traffic thinking someone was trying to rob me when they really just wanted to make dinner reservation at this Hungarian restaurant in long island New York. I live in rural Missouri.

The kicker when my phone bill came in I was also charged for all those calls it was almost $90. Thankfully we cancelled the number and didn't get another one and we didn't have to pay the bill. I felt silly never once did I think about that new 1-800 being the problem. :)

About a month ago, my DH had a voicemail from a Louisiana number that he didn't recognize. (We live in Ga but he works in La.) When he listened to it, it was some guy who had been arrested and was trying to call his "baby" to come bail him out. The message was really funny to us. Too bad for that guy though that he wasted his one call on a wrong number!

Those politicians must have the tinest brains on the planet, that is just stupidity! Wait till the complaints start rolling in about this one!

I worked as a receptionist years ago...one day while the boss was out on a call, I took my while you were out message pad and wrote him a call back on it...from Harry Lyons...and I put the number of the local zoo for the call back number...i gave it to him when he got back and about 10 minutes later he started yelling my name and cursing...ha...everyone at the office got a kick out of it...later he told me the girl on the other end of the phone caught it immediately and started laughing hysterically at him...

one day in an old apt. i picked up the phone to hear no dial tone. i borrowed my neighbors phone to call the phone co. but 1st i decided to see if my phone would ring if i called it. i dialed & got another woman. thinking i dialed wrong i dialed again...same woman. i explained what was going on to her & called the phone co. 7/10 day to fix it. during that time i received ALL their phone calls & couldn't call out. then when all was fixed i got my phone bill. they were able to call out on MY number! the lines had been crossed. i finally got the bill erased but it wasn't pleasant.
not only was the long distance co. rude but when they called to tell me the phone was fixed i said ..finally! this man on the other end says ...well you didnt tell me you had no dial tone!...well duh! what part of the phone is dead did you NOT understand!!

I once had two repo men show up at my door looking for a Dodge Durango and that was to be repossesed. They had the wrong address and were on the wrong side of town.

Here's a couple we have recenlty received:

Our former phone number was really close to the local number for "Meals on Wheels." I would get at least 5 calls a day from elderly people asking when their meals were going to arrive, or to say they didn't need meals that day. I always felt bad when I had to tell then they dialed the wrong number. Our last four digits were 7040 and Meals on Wheels is 7047.

On our new number, hubby answered the phone there was a recording from a prison saying the person trying to make the call was in prison and trying to place a collect call to our number. If we accept the charges, press 1; if we refused press 2. Of course hubby pressed 2.

A few minutes later we got the same call, in the background of the recording hubby could hear a man saying, "pick up the 'DARN' phone you beech." Hubby hung up the phone and put the number on call block!
