Murray Riding Lawn Mowers Recalled By Briggs & Stratton Power Products Group Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Murray Front Engine Riding Lawn Mowers
Units: About 2,100
Manufacturer: Briggs & Stratton Power Products Group LLC, of Wauwatosa, Wis.
Hazard: The two-piece fuel tanks on the riding mowers can separate at the seam, causing fuel to leak. This can pose fire and burn hazards to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Briggs & Stratton Power Products Group has received two reports of fuel leaks. No injuries or incidents have been reported.
Description: This recall involves Murray front engine riding lawnmowers with the model and serial numbers listed below. The model and serial numbers are located on an identification tag on the rear frame of the unit.

Serial Number Range: 2012852329 through 2012852578; 2013004655 through 2013005154; 2013071338 through 2013071546

Serial Number Range: 2012886982 through 2012887081; 2012887082 through 2012887231; 2013035588 through 2013035671

Serial Number Range: 2012887399 through 2012887548; 2012887549 through 2012887648; 2012978024 through 2012978024; 2013046581 through 2013047179
Sold at: Various riding lawnmower dealers nationwide from April 2008 through September 2008 for about $950.
Manufactured in: United States
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mower and contact the dealer from which it was purchased for a free repair.
