View Full Version : Personal prayer request

Greetings ;)

I was debating on posting this so many times, but I have decided that the prayers I could receive outweigh any issues I have.

I recently found a lump in my left breast. I have a doctor's appointment with my primary (first time meeting her) on Monday morning to find out what's going on. The good news is I don't have any history of breast cancer in either side of my family (that we are aware of).

This all started a few weeks ago when I thought I was pregnant. I was having some really sharp pains in the area the lump is now in. I was just thinking it was a hormonal thing, but after since finding out I'm not pregnant, I'm not sure what it is. I am still getting the sharp pains and there is definately something noticable going on.

The only people that know are my husband and my parents. I am scared out of my mind with all the 'what-ifs". I just need to 'talk' to someone, but I want to be careful that this doesn't get very far (in my outside life that is).

Thank you all so much-at least for reading.

Cindy, you hold on to good thoughts. Most of the time it is a benign cyst. I will pray that everything goes well for you and your family. I am so glad to hear you are going to a woman doctor, not that there is anything wrong with a man doctor, but a woman doctor is much more sensitive to another woman. Please keep us posted. HUGS.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Try not to worry. I know how easy that is for everyone to say, but I've been in your shoes more times than I want to talk about, and I am here and fine. It will all work out and be ok.

Cindy, I can relate with what you are going through, as last year I had a scare myself. The waiting to find out something is very difficult. Try to remain as positive as you can, maybe try to distract yourself or remain busy to keep your mind off of it. I will say a prayer for you as others have done for me. Please let us know how things turn out. Take care.

Cindy--same here. Last spring I had several mammograms, plus ultrasounds, all to find out after much concern that it was likely too much caffeine (which can cause the sharp pains--my gyn said that usually the dangerous lumps cause no pain at all in the beginning) and just the way I was made. Praying that the outcome will be great for you!

Thank you all SOOO much for the thoughts and prayers! You don't understand how much it means to me. I have managed to keep myself pretty pre-occupied this weekend-DH and I are going to do a bathroom remodel and we spent 9 hours yesterday getting what we needed!!!!

My appointment is for tomorrow morning, so I will definately update later on in the afternoon. Thank you all again!

Cindy, thinking of you. I went thru some of this during the last few months. Had my regular mammogram and was advised that they saw "something". I had to go have another mammogram and and ultra sound and it was determined that I have "dense breast tissue". I don't have large breasts so I don't know what this means. I have been told this on several occasions during the past 25 years. Everything is okay and I pray that it will be for you too. Keep positive thoughts.

Thank you all so much again!

Well, today's appointment didn't go nearly as I planned! I was thinking I'm going in there, she's going to find the same thing I did, and I was on my way to at least getting a sonogram...

This is what actually happened--I go in, tell her what's going on, including how I went about finding this spot in the first place. She does a breast exam, and she thinks what I'm feeling is where the muscle of my chest wall is meeting breast tissue-which is normal. She then asks me about my period, which I answer her questions about, including that I took so many home pregnancy tests and they were all negative. She THEN tells me she thinks I might BE pregnant, and goes on to say that some women will tinkle on 500 tests and never get a positive, but they are in fact--PREGNANT. My favorite though-she asks if I have a OB/GYN, and when I tell her no, she tells me I might consider looking for one.

I am in utter shock right now..kinda like in a daze!

Cindy. Try to take it easy.. Did they give you a pregnancy test? Were any other tests ordered?!

Oh my. So now what? Are you going to another dr? Doctors make me so angry sometimes! I feel if they would take more time to listen they could catch more problems upfront (at least in my case)!

I had blood drawn for a pregnancy test while I was still in the office. I'm not 100% sure when I will get the results though.

As for my initial problem, she said what I was feeling was common, and she did not feel anything abnormal.

Well she doesn't sound like she was much help at all. Get on the phone and find you and OBYGN immediately!

Cindy, did the doctor atleast check you for any lumps? Did she suggest a mamogram? Did she do a pelvic exam too?
If you are pregnant I am sure they will tell you asap, I would wait a couple of days then call them back on the results, those are usually back in a day or so.

Yes, she did a full breast exam-no pelvic though. A mammogram was never suggested, but after a lot of researching on my own, mammograms are not reliable for women under the age of 35 (some say 40) because of very dense breast tissue. Everything would just appear white on it. She didn't find lumps or bumps..just very 'heavy, full feeling' "girls" :o

I never heard that about mamograms. But if she did not feel anything it could just be hormonal changes. Keep us posted.

Cindy, did they do an MRI. This is one of the newest forms of checking for breast cancer, according to my Dr. You might ask about it. Wishing you the best! Hugs ~ Kim

Thanks so much! The only thing I had done today was a blood draw for the pregnancy test.

I'm just sitting here, still in a daze...:o

Well, the news did not turn out the way I hoped. My doctor's office called and my pregnancy test was negative. Now all I have is a really nasty bruise on my arm :(

In case I didn't mention it or it never came across--I want to be pregnant more than anything in this world right now. This would have been such a blessing for my DH and I. Our 6th wedding anniversary is coming up in 2 1/2 weeks (along with my birthday).

I just need to move on from this. Thank you all for the prayers regarding everything-I really appreciate it.

Cindy, glad to hear that your Dr didn't think it was anything abnormal but I think I woud ask for a mammogram or MRI just to make sure.

A couple of years ago our daughter Theresa found lumps in both of her breasts, she was 20 at the time. I called our Primary care Dr and told her, she sent her right away to have ultrasounds done on both breasts. There is no family history of breast cancer, but our Dr said more and more young women are getting it and it goes undetected. Thank God nothin showed up on Theresa's ultrasounds. She was told not to drink a lot of soda or orange juice since they both can contribute to "lumpy breasts."

As far as wanting to be pregnant, our oldest daughter and hubby tried for 2 years to get pregnant. She was so distraught every month when she found out she wasn't pregnant. I told her to stop trying!!! I said you are stressing out your body! They stopped trying and within 2 months she was pregnant! Our oldest Grandson is 2 1/2 years old, and she is thinking about having another baby.

Hugs,
Mae
