Mine is Fried Green Tomatoes.

No matter how many times I see it, I laugh and laugh when she rams her car into the VW bug. -- She's older and she has more insurance! Then again later when her husband is telling her that he does not understand how she could accidently hit the same car 6 times.

It's so hard for me to pick just one favorite! I really love "Titanic." I also absolutely adore "13 Going on 30." New favorites: "The Holiday" and "Catch and Release."

Ha! I was going to be embarrassed to write Sixteen Candles, so I'm glad it's one of your favorites too, Carly's Mommy.
Everytime I tell someone what it is...they like to tell me how cheesy that 80's movie is. I LOVE the part where Jake goes to the church to see Sam.

I even bought the t-shirt that says: "I Love Jake Ryan"

If anything, I'm the cheesy one :)

MY very favorite movie is Mildred Pierce, yeah I know it is older than the hills, but there is just something about it that I love, when I do watch it, either on Turner Classic's or on DVD or VHS, and say to my friend here, guess what I am watching she just says that movie again????? Next best movie is, Now Voyager, with Bette Davis......

Too funny about the t-shirt! I guess I'm cheesy too. My husband just does not get it when I watch these movies. He's never seen any of them and won't ever sit down to watch them with me. I was actually watching Grease recently and he was in the room and he said "There's too much singing in this movie," and I said "Duh ... it's a MUSICAL!" He had no idea it was a musical and I couldn't stop laughing. :p

A couple more movies that I forgot to mention before are Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Dirty Dancing.

Irving Berlin's White Christmas is my all time favorite movie. I can watch this even in the dog days of summer & come away with a glow. My 2nd favorite would be any of the "old" musicals: West Side Story, Oliver, Camalot, The King & I etc. I have them all on tape. The 1st tape I bought for the vidio player was White Christmas & the 1st dvd I bought was the same.

I have so many, but the one I'd let the dishes sit, forget the unmade beds, leave the things on the floor, and fold clothes without looking at them would be......THE NOTEBOOK with Gena Rowlands and James Garner. It has a repeating powerful message of which I never grow tired. My other favorite is CLARA'S HEART with Whoopie Goldberg. It is a serious movie, with another powerful message, and the music is wonderful.....Carribean steel drums waft though out. :) :)

All time favorite is The Sound of Music. Saw it when it first came out and I was in the 6th grade and I started BAWLING so loud in the theater at the end when they are crossing the mountain into safety. I still cry when I see it every year!

Next favorite would have to be The Way We Were. Good Lord, no man ever looked as handsome as Robert Redford sitting at the bar in his dress whites and he is drunk and asleep. I bawl at that one too, every time I see it.

After that:

Little Big Man (does anybody remember this one? it is from the 70s and starred Dustin Hoffman--excellent "western" movie)
The Sting
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Jaws
The Shawshank Redemption
Tootsie
Kramer vs Kramer
Close Encounters of the Third Kind

and I agree with the person who liked American History X---good movie and BOY did Edward Norton look good!!!
Silkwood

Liz- when I was younger my mom said when the movie would come on I would run up to the tv when the cowardly lion appeared and yell "daddy"!LOL

I have to say that my father does resemble the lion quite a bit and I have had many people see his picture and agree-

I also have to add that my father carries the trait of the lion as well- as him and I do not speak- have not spoke or seen one another in years. That is fine by me- he never was there growing up- I am used to it. But I had to tell you the story of thinking it was my dad on the tv screen lol- and I still watch the movie every year it is on and own the DVD.

City Of Angels!!is My All Time Favorite!!

Oh, how I love this movie, no matter how many times i re-watch it, I always get all emotional right on cue, so to speak.

If anyone's interested give the soundtrack a listen, it is amazing, whenever i listen to it, it evokes within my the same feeling I have when watching the film. I mean, the song that Paula cole did they play it in the scene whe Meg Ryan is in the tub with the Roll, ing Rock thinking about him, oh man love this movie, I swear I do:)
