Has anyone ever watched that show?? I caught part of it last night and was ****ed off at that Chef Ramsey. He made total fools out of professional chefs. He acted like he was the only one who know how to cook on that show.
All of those chefs had culinarty degrees and worked in fine restaurants all over the world.
Anyone would do a terrible job like that under the pressure and being cussed at.
I worked 20 years in food service and know what it is like. I am by no means a professional like these guys and gals were but still you don't cuss at them for everything they did wrong.

I know I sure wont be watching that show again.

A lot of the people on the show are not professional chefs, don't have culinary degrees and haven't worked in fine restaurants all over the world. One of the women on the show is a cook at a Waffle House - and she seems to have more brains than any of the other women on there. Last season, one of the guys learned his cooking skills from being a prison cook (he was serving time). Some of the women have been stay at home moms and some have just worked in family restaurants.

Sorry, but I have no pity for the people on Hell's Kitchen. This is the 3rd season of the show and they should know by now what they're getting into - for goodness sakes - just look at the name of the show. If you can't tough it out, then you shouldn't apply to be on the show.

You must not have seen the episode where one of the "professional chef's" was pulling cooked pasta out of the garbage can to put on a customer's plate, or when another "chef" was going to serve rancid crab meat and she was also licking the utensils she was cooking with. If you were watching from the very beginning then you would see that a lot of these people are complete idiots and shouldn't be working in a kitchen in the first place.

Personally, I love the show. It is what it is meant to be - entertainment. If you watch from the very beginning to the last show, you really see how the weakest get weeded out and the good ones really strive to improve. While it may not be necessary to cuss the people out, I think it is necessary to hold them to the fire and really put a lot of pressure on them. The time goes by quickly and you have to see who is the strongest and will be able to handle the pressure of running a big, famous restaurant. If Chef Ramsay was nice all the time and wasn't breathing down their necks, then they wouldn't have to push themselves as hard and wouldn't learn nearly as much. I think that by him abusing them like he does, he's teaching them how to focus more and get the job done and do it right.

I completely understand that working in food service is not an easy job at all and I commend you for having done it for 20 years. I honestly don't think I could survive very well if that's how I had to earn my living. I'm glad that others do enjoy that type of work because I like to eat out. :D

I watched it last night for the first time and I found it really interesting. My sis watches it and she likes it as well. I think he is a little hard on the people sometimes though.

I for one have never seen that show- the commercials were more than enough for me. The chef seems like a real jerk from the commercial and I have no interest in EVER watching it.

I really did not like it the first time that I watched it but I have to tell you it grew on me...I love how he freaks out and then shuts everything down. I really want Rock to win but at the same time I am hoping that Julia shows everyone that a short order cook could pull this off. JUST GET RID OF MELISSA PLEASE......SHE NEVER SHUTS UP...;)

Chef Gordon Ramsey is one hell of a guy, no pun intended. He is actually a really good guy and does A LOT for others with restaurants that were going down hill. I have seen and read several times where he has saved family businesses from going down the drain, found a prep cook that should have been a lead cook, etc.

Does it seem a little overboard on Hell's Kitchen? Well yeah! It is TV. Besides, the winner will be HANDED a million dollar kitchen in a fabulous resort of which they become "the" chef. To me, if they can't handle him and his tyraids, how are they going to run an entire restaurant, staff, and deal with complaining customers??? If nothing else, there is no tuition to pay back for everything they learn! Not many people get a free higher education.

As for Melissa.......PLEASE COOK HER AND EAT HER FOR THE NEXT DINNER SERVICE!!!!! If she degrades Julia one more time about being a short order cook, I think I might have to send her hate mail! lol Apparently Melissa has never had to work hard in her life and doesn't know that with Julia's experience feeding the 2:00 am crowd that is drunk and just in from the bars, she can run circles around just about everyone. Now, I am not saying Julia is the best chef, but she is one hell of a person!

I dont think Chef Ramsay is overboard at all. When he's trying to run a restaurant and is putting his name and support behind these people to watch them fail, he should be hard on them. I know that it has to be hard to do anything like what all the chefs are doing. I worked in a fast food place for 5 months and that was enough to make me never want to do it again. That stuff is hard. But I do agree that it's not any easier when someone is yelling at you. My fiance has been watching the show from the start and he said that these chefs are the worst yet. I dont think they should have put Melissa on the blue team. They should have sent her home all together. All she knows how to do is criticize, and can't take it when it's dished.

Cpogie
07-09-2007, 03:35 PM
If you recall it wasn't "they" that put her on the blue team, it was Chef Ramsey that did that, and alot of it is for TV, or it would be boring. Chef Ramsey makes the show!

VanillaBean
07-09-2007, 03:44 PM
OMG- Chef Ramsay HAS to be hard on them I absolutely agree- he has to make sure that whoever gets to be their own Chef in their own restaurant-they have to be able to handle the stress that comes with that job. So Ramsay has to be very very hard on them to see just what and how much they can take and to gage how well they cook under so much pressure. It is so funny to me how outlandish his comments are, yet he is making them all stronger and he is helping push them to be their best which he knows they are capable of being. I am a veteran watcher-also have his Autograph- He is so very cool!! I would love to learn from him about the kitchen.:p

Me too! I wonder who will get the axe tonight....hope it is girl wonder (Melissa) that was put on the boys team....she needs to take the coat off!!! Looks to be an interesting show again.

I don't know if you have BBC America or not, but you can catch the British version on it. It's called Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. It's a pretty good show. I don't know what the American version will be like, but on the British version Chef Ramsay is a lot more mellow than he is on Hell's Kitchen.

Who does everyone want to win?

I was really liking Rock until I saw him in a rage a couple of times. Not a big fan of that and the huge chip on his shoulder lately.

As for the women, I really like Julia, but I don't think she'll be ready to run a big restaurant at the end of the show. I just can't believe how far she has come from being a short order cook at Waffle House! I really think she has improved so much more than a lot of the others on the show and I think she has great potential, she just lacks some experience with a lot of the foods they are working with. I think it would be awesome in the end if she won, but was offered the chance to work directly with Chef Ramsay and train with him for a year in one of his restaurants before she got to run her own restaurant. That's basically what happened in the first season.

AT FIRST I LIKED ROCK, BUT AFTER SEEING LAST NIGHTS SHOW THAT TELLS ME THAT HE WOULD NOT BE A GOOD LEADER, A GOOD LEADER WOULD OF JUMPED IN WITHOUT BEING ASKED AND HELPED OUT WHERE THERE WAS A PROBLEM. EVEN AFTER CHEF RAMSAY ASKED ROCK AND BRAD TO JUMP IN AND HELP OUT JOSH THEY DID NOT. I AGREE WITH LETTING BRAD GO LAST NIGHT DUE TO THAT REASON. ROCK HAS NEVER LIKE JOSH AND THAT IS GOING TO BITE HIM IN THE A.. IN THE LONG RUN. ON ANOTHER NOTE BONNIE SHOULD OF BEEN ALSO VOTED OFF, SHE SCREWS UP ON THE ORDER AND CAN NOT DEAL WITH THINGS IN THE KITCHEN NOT TO MENTION SHE TRIED TO COOK SOMETHING LAST NIGHT WITHOUT TURNING ON THE GAS...LOL...:p I MYSELF THINK THAT CHEF RAMSAY HAS A SOFTSPOT FOR BONNIE AND THAT IS WHAT'S KEEPING HER ALIVE. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE JULIA WIN BUT I AM THINKING THAT JEN IS GOING TO WIN, SHE IS STARTING TO SHOW HER TALENT THAT SHE HAS BEEN KEEPING SECRET...EXCEPT FOR THE STEAK AND EGGS THING WAS THAT NOT FUNNY....IT IS GETTING INTERESTING....

Last night was good, but some parts with Bonnie and Jen I didn't like. Like the way they were cooking what Bonnie had said to cook, Steak and Eggs, and Jen wasn't making any suggestions, but when Jen presented the Steak and Eggs and Chef Ramsay said it was too simple, Jen got upset because that's not what she wanted to cook. Also, when Bonnie suggested the leg of rabbit to make herself look better but had no idea how to cook it... that wasn't very smart. I think Bonnie will get the axe next week.

I was hoping she would win but it was nice to see Josh get voted off. It looks like Chef is going to make sure she becomes a chef someday. I really think she improved more than anyone else on the show. I agree with Chef Ramsay - she does have a natural talent. I thought it was so touching that he wants to send her to culinary school so she can realize her dream of running a restaurant. You could tell that he really thought a lot of her. Julia is the only person on the show that I can say I never heard personally attack or say nasty things about anyone else. I think she has an awesome future to look forward to.

I WAS HAPPY:D TO SEE JOSH GET KICK OUT OF THERE BUT SO SAD :( TO SEE JULIA GO, I REALLY THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO WIN AND SURPRISE EVERYONE. I AT THIS POINT WOULD REALLY HATE TO SEE ROCK WIN, I THINK HE HAS A BAD  ATTITUDE PROBLEM. I COULD NOT BELIEVE LAST NIGHT WHEN HE PUT THE SCALLOPS UP AND THEY WERE SO OVER DONE THAT YOU COULD EVEN TELL ON THE SCREEN AND NOT TO MENTION HOW HE MADE JEN LOOK BAD BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT WAIT THE EXTRA 45 SECONDS TO GO UP WITH THE FOOD. I REALLY THOUGHT AFTER THE OUTBURST IN THE KITCHEN THAT BONNIE WAS GOING TO PICK ROCK AND JEN, IT IS JUST A SHAME THAT GARNISH IS WHAT DID JULIA IN, BUMMER:rolleyes:

I didn't she would make it this far either, but she was really ON last night. She's so entertaining to watch. I was cracking up watching her and Rock clean the dorms. My jaw just about dropped to the floor when Chef Ramsay asked her to tell him off - she was the only one who didn't need any kind of coaching and she really let him have it.

I was also happy to see that Rock didn't seem to have attitude last night. I think it really helped him to see his mom.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I actually like Bonnie.

I liked Rock a lot in the beginning, but his nasty attitude and temper really turned me off. To me, he just never did seem to communicate very well with the other chefs in the kitchen, which would be key to running a restaurant. I guess it's possible that could change once he's not in competition mode, but I haven't see any signs of it changing yet. I guess we'll find out next Monday night.

OK, so after watching Rock fumble with ideas about a restaurant, I am not sure WHO I want to win. I think Rock is the better chef, and better under pressure when it comes to cooking. However, from what I saw last night, he doesn't have a managerial bone in his body. Now I really don't care who wins, as long as they deserve it.

I would have thought that someone who has been dreaming of running his own restaurant would have been able to come up with a menu and design a little easier. They had all night to think about it and he still seemed lost and on the other hand, Bonnie knew exactly what she wanted. I do think it would mean more to Rock to win - with his family and all, but I honestly think Bonnie is more suited for the job. I agree with you that Rock doesn't seem to have a managerial bone in his body. As angry as we all saw him get, you know he's capable of speaking up and raising his voice - he just hasn't done it in the right way. When he was given the chance to delegate and run the kitchen I didn't think he did very well at all. He just seems like the type of person that expects you to read his mind.

At first I thought Bonnie was a real flake and, honestly, she can be very whiney. After watching her on the last 2-3 episodes though, I really like her and think she would do a great job. She sure is entertaining to watch and at least she can speak up and tell people what she wants and needs.

I too am glad Rock won. I really think that through editing they made Rock look like he couldn't get it together to come up with a menu and a restaurant idea. Just as sure as they edited it so Bonnie looked like she had it together. I guess it made Rock look really good during the finale. JMHO.
