View Full Version : Prayers needed for my daughter...

I just took my youngest daughter to the doctor for a well check-up. When she was a baby she almost died at birth (I did too) during birth because of severe shoulder dystosia (her head was out and shoulders were stuck for 4 1/2 minutes!) It was the worst one recorded at our hospital  2 years later one pt went into shock and didn't push (we had to section her and take the baby up that way- yes, push the head back in!)

Anyway, due to not breathing at birth and having to be recessitated her fetal anatomy did not close (because they didn't give her a big enough "breath" the first few breaths we give them with the oxgyen mask- positive pressure ventilation it is called) and that gave her a heart murmor.

She had numerous tests done saw cardiologists and they said it should just "close up and go away"...six months later it did.

But for the past 6 months to a year she is complaining about this chest pain (at first I thought it was when she was eating cold things ro maybe growing pains- but it was getting worse) but I would come in waves- she would get it and it would stop her from what she was doing and last quite a while- up to 5 minutes.

Now she hasn't had it in the past month- but I wanted the doctor to know...I am worried. He saw her yesterday. He has her set up with a ped. cardiologist for MONDAY! He only said in front of her that she would probably have to wear a hoilter monitor (?sp) when she gets the pain...but MONDAY...doesn't take a genious to see that maybe somthing might be wrong. Because this guys isn't some new doc off the med school circut..he is suppose to be a top doc he wanted me to see...

Ok- say some prayers, please!

Nancy

Oh Nancy I am so sorry you and your daughter are going through this. Heart murmors run in our family. Dont know if they are genetic or not but my Aunt had open heart surgery at age 16, and my sister has one and had to go through lots of test just about 2 years ago. I know what you are going through. We were so worried about my sis because they gave us the worst news then said they would test it. Thank God that our prayers worked because when they did all the extensive test they couldn't even find what the first Dr had found. My sis still has the murmor but I strongly believe our faith has kept her safe and will continue to do so.
Hugs to you and your entire family. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted.
And please know that there is hope, even when they give you bad news it doesn't mean that God can't heal our babies.:(

Thanks for the prayers so far...when I was typing this yesterday...she kept coming into the room (she was waiting for me- they wanted to out for lunch!) So I didn't want her to see what I was typing.

My mom is coming to the appointment with me and my oldest DD as well. My mom is a young grandmother (only 60) She had me at 20...was married right when she turned 18! So Emily thought that something was WRONG that my mother was coming too...I said, "Nah, Gram (my grandmother- who has passed), Grandma and I used to all go together to appointments all the time!" My girls said "Cool!"

The appoinment is about 30-45 minutes away from where we live so I'm giving us an hour (at least to get there)...it is a man- he is supposed to be one of the top Ped. Cardiologists in the area.

We will see what he has to say...I'll let you all know Monday night.

Nancy--may God fill you all with His peace and love while you wait for the appointment...and in the meantime, may He pour out His healing on your daughter! It would be so awesome if you got there and all the issues were healed! :)

DD was really nervous when we walked in...but better after the nurse told her she would be getting any "needles" today. Cardiologist was terrific!!! he was at her level asked her all the questions, did a complete exam and was funny as he!!... said to DD "OMG! Look at your toes!" (she had purplish/pink nail polish on) Then took her hand and said "Feew! Thought something was wrong there for a minute- at least your fingers are normal." No smile from DD. He listened to her heart and asked her why she was so nervous. She shugged. He said "I only bite on Thursday not Mondays!" Faint, maybe faint smile... Then he said exam sounded normal but he wanted to do echocardiogram- said to DD that's it's an ultrasound with no needles (she heard needles ) "NO, no needles! I don't like needles- hate them', he says. She gets smile on her face and asks "Can you be my doctor ALL the time?" :p LOL

So with her history he did an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) and found her to be perfectly normal! :D Then when he was done she smiled when she asked him if she could have chocolate again and he said "I graduated from Hershey so only Hershey...none of that Nestle stuff!" ;) She asked what kind of chocolate chunks I used in the Brownies last night and was thrilled when I said Hershey!

He was great! We don't have to go back- he thinks it might just be "growing pains" he's not sure but he knows it's NOT her heart!

Thank you to everyone to prayed for us...I really appreciate it!!

Hugs to all,
Nancy
