Hi everyone, this is Terri, I want to thank everyone for there good thoughts and prayers, I was having some problems and major pain with my teeth and I had the kids concerned, becuse i couldn't get the pain to go away, I finally got to the dentist and he gave me some tylenol3 for the pain and some antibotics and said a root canal would be the next step. I had been seeing another dentist who from what i understand should have seen a problem and either did and didn't say anthing or maybe she didn't who knows. The tooth is a lower bottom canine tooth so I need to keep it. This is a major financial problem, since we don't have alot of money right now.I am still having some pain even on the meds but it is much better. my children are greatly concerned especially the youngest as you can tell. I have tried to reassure her I will be alright. She is a big believer in PRAYER and has a great faith in God, so we will be alright. Thanks again for everything.

well here it is thursday morning and i have now been on the meds since tuesday afternoon and let me tell you as soon as the pain meds wear off I am hurting again, and not alittle either. The motrin and tylenol 3 are making me sick to my stomach and yes i do take it with a full glass of milk or something to eat, if not both.I am hurting right now and i have took something for pain, dr said antibotics have to do there job, so I guess I deal with it but it is real hard, because it makes the rest of my teeth hurt and my ear on that side. so please continue praying, I have never had pain quite like this .Terri

Terri....I am saying a prayer for you right now! I hope things get better for you soon. Is the tooth abcessed? (sp) I had that happen right before I had to get a root canal, and had to have the filling removed before it would get better. They just left it open until it healed, and then did the root canal. I hope the pain goes away today. Maybe that antibiotic works soon! Sending hugs your way......Kim

yes the tooth does have a abcess and it will have to heal completely before a root canal can be done. so I am left to deal with what I can. Thanks for the prayers. I truely believe prayer works, so with everyone and me praying something is bound to work.

Unfortunately I don't have the best teeth right now.hopefully they will be replaced in the next year. I get abcess quite often. This is what I do to get rid of my pain.I'm sure it sounds nasty but when you have to continue on in daily life I neede the pain to stop. Everytime I start to get pain in my teeth I instantly start a peroxide wash. I use about a 3 part peroxide 1 part water and rinse my mouth turning my head to make sure to get it into the area hurting. It foams real bad if theres an infection.I rinse at least twice daily.within 24 hours I feel the pain easing.Usually by day three or four I no longer have to flush until the next time.I know this sounds gross and I don't swallow any of it and I rinse my mouth with water when I'm done.I have been doing this for about 3 years and like I said my insurance starts in Aug so I'm almost there.

I know it will heal, and I have had one before, but this one is worse and when the pain starts its hard to concentrate, and it seems to take over and I get really restless, and believe lots of prayers too, my youngest(11) takes it hard when I hurt she keeps asking are you all right, Then she says I will pray for you, so, I truely believe I have a powerful group praying for me and I just want to thank everyone again for there support and prayers. mom363546 I just want you to know i am praying for you and hopefully you will gwet your newe teeth soon.

I hope you get to feeling better asap! I know how bad dental issues can hurt. And I know how bad dental issues hurt the pocket book! We have insurance, but it barely covers necessary things, let alone if you have emergencies!! DH has had extensive work done. Over a 4 yr period between the measely insurance and our pockets, we will have over 10 grand into his mouth. No wonder I am sliding in the poor house. lol
My prayers and thoughts are with you. And you must be a great Mom for your daughter to be concerned. Pat yourself on the back...GOOD JOB MOM!

Teri,
I pray you get some relief soon!

If you have the money, ask your pharmacist for some Hurricaine gel or spray. I like it much better than Orajel. The spray comes with an attachable straw so you can get to those hard to reach areas. It is OTC but for some reason they keep it behind the counter at the pharmacies.

Swishing warm salty water in your mouth (as warm as you can stand it) should offer some relief.

Another thing that helps me get through a bad toothache like yours is to fill a tube sock with uncooked grits, tie it off, then heat it in the microwave. Once it is cool enough I can stand it, I lay down with the sock on the infected side of my face. The heat helps the ear and the tooth feel better. (this also makes the best "bed buddy" to lay across your stomache when experiencing cramps).

Feel better soon!

Update, first i wish to thank everyone for there words of encouragement and there prayers. I had the root canal this morning, but now I am told it needs a post to stabilize it and then a crown, which i don't have money for, today alone cost 800. and that was a build up and a root canal, plus I am told they may need to do a root canal on the one next to it in order to save it. HELp, I just don't know what to do. making payments is really out of the question, because I am sure they would be not cheap payments because the procedures aren't cheap. anyway Thanks again

I had a root canal back in 2001 and I have yet to get a crown. They are so expensive. My mother has been having extensive dental work done and uses Care Credit. She seems like the way the company has their credit card.....it is also what she used at her vet. I want to say there is no finance charge if you pay off within 1 year. I could be wrong.

We have a dental school here in town..Prices are much better than at dentist..if you are close to a college might try that.
