For those that do your own hair at home..
What kind of dye do you prefer? What have you tried that hasn't been so great? Which ones are gentler on your hair?
I color every 1-2 months and am always looking for a good dye. So far my favorite is Revlon Colorist.. the color is more fade defiant and vibrant.

I used Garnier for a few years! I used the box with the avocado oil and conditioner! Great stuff!

I like Garnier too.. it smells so good when it's on! That's more than I can say for some boxed haircolor.

I'm glad to know about this other hair color, the Garnier. In the past I have used Clairol (many years ago, but could not stand the smell) Most recently I have been using L'Oreal, which worked pretty good, the hair color looked natural.
If I ever color my hair again at home I will give the Garnier hair color a try. thanks for the info.

For years I used Loreal Experte (color and highlight in one box) and it worked great. :) Then my asthma got much worse so I had to stop coloring with ammonia based products. I switched to Hydraince, but the peroxide in that was too much too. I really like the Garnier as it it is the gentlest out of the three, but again, I kinda start choking  so usually I've been just rinsing with Natural Instincts every 5 or 6 weeks-that way I can cover the grey AND breathe!!!!! :p

Do you think Natural Instincts leaves your hair in better condition the more you use it? I used it once and read that in the manual. But if it's true I might have to start using it. I have to dye my hair very often because of some grays and my peroxide face cream!

I've found that it doesn't seem to damage my hair or dry it out nearly as much as ammonia and peroxide based dyes do. However, I swear by Garnier Fructis for shampoo and conditioner. I usually use the Shine Burst formulas and they work great. I have extremely thick, wavy hair that grows very fast and it keeps it under control for me without using anything else like gels, mousse, etc. :D

I use whatever is on sale the cheapest because my hair grows so fast that I have to color it every other month.......
Revlon Colorsilk is not bad. I like the Garnier also, and loving Care is not bad...
Natural Instincts in Burgundy gave me a PURPLE cast in my hair....I glowed under fluorescent lights.

I use the same thing and I LOVE IT. As you said, it is the least expensive and does a great job! I keep an eye out for sales(2 for 5.00) and then use my coupon that usually comes in the box along with the directions. :D
