I don't know enough about insurance to say. It sounds to me like you may be out of luck though.
There are ways that cost less. Cremation for one. I'm not a fan of the entire funeral process though.
I'm really sorry about your mom. Must be tough. :(

Have you spoken to the American Cancer Society for any information they have available?
Also, a hospice organization might be able to help.
Please accept my sympathy as I know you must be distraught at the condition of your mother. God Bless.

I don't know a lot about life insurance either. But, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I keep you, your Mom and family in my prayers.

It is my understanding that once a person has a teminal illness such as this, you cannot get life insurance.
You may call and speak to whomever your car insurance agent is and ask him or her about it. Sometimes if a person has been cancer free for so long, they will issue a policy but it usually has "rider" on it which means if the person dies from the specified ailment, they do not pay.

After I had posted a suggestion earlier, I read the "PARADE" magazine which is in the Sunday newspaper and it suggested contacting the state insurance department. The article says:
Currently at least 34 states help insure citizens who have been denied coverage by private companies because of pere-existing medical conditions. Check with your state's department of insurance."
It would be worth a try to call your state office to determine if you are in one of the 34 states that has this help available. If you check your phone book for government numbers there may be a 1-800 number which would be toll free.
Good luck. God bless.

The State insurance that Mspete speaks of, is probably health insurance.
Some states have an insurnace you can get, if you are denied health insurance due to pre existing conditions. This is not life insurance or burial insurance.
I assume that the poster's Mother does not have any assets, which is why she seeks some sort of life insurance for her Mother. I, too, would think it would be impossible to obtain any type of life insurance or burial insurance due to her Mother's cancer. If the Mother has any assets, I would recommend the Mother transferring those assets to the poster to give them the authority to use said assets for the funeral and burial.
My Dad died six months ago. Fortunately he had life insurance. A modest funeral was $25,000 and he had already paid for his burial plot, so that wasn't an issue nor included in the total cost.
My sympathy to the poster. Its not easy to lose a parent and the aspect of having to deal with the costs that come after only adds to the total burden.
