Does anyone know how good these SUVs are? I am looking at buying one in the next few months and I just wanted some people's opinions on them. I am hoping to go test drive one this week. I just wanted to know about if they break down alot or if they have any normal problems. I know it probably doesn't get great gas mileage, but it won't be driven really far anyways. We will use my car now for driving to school until we move closer. Thanks!

Just an opinion, Dodge products are probably at the bottom of the list that I would be looking at, and Chrysler may be bankrupt and out of business in the near future. As for resale value, look in the kelly blue book on line and you will see it does not have a good resale factor. I have a Chevy Trailblazer which I love! and it has a good resale history too. If you are looking at the cost, that Dodge may cost less but repairs may cost more than other SUV's, and insurance may cost more. Do some research first.

I have a Dodge and I love it. We are not really planning to resale anyways. When we are ready to move, we might just ship the car. Otherwise well sell and get a cheap car once we do move. We are also looking at a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am not really sure yet. Whichever I like better in the test drive and we can get for cheaper, we will probably get. I looked up insurance and for the best you can get it would only be $190 a month for me. I have a very good driving record. Plus there would be 2 of us paying on the payment and the insurance, so it wouldn't be that much. I think I will really decide once I test drive both.

$190 a month is alot to pay just for insurance:eek: . We pay $80 a month for the Hummer and $90 for a motorcycle, that's full coverage...:o

well the $190 isn't for the kind we would get. The kind we would get it only like $65 unless we go for a little better and get $90. For how young we are that is really good.

i would probly go with the jeep over the dodge...better overall i think...have you looked at the jeep liberty? it's a smaller suv...impressive actually...
and as far as the insurance...that does seem high...i carry full coverage high risk insurance and it's half that...you might check around some...
all in all just go with what you like :D

The insurance I would get is really only like $65 a month. The other was stuff I would never need. But we have started to look at the Honda CR-V thing also. We know Hondas are good on gas and cheap to fix. We haven't really been to alot of places to look because we have been so busy trying to fix his credit, but we plan to get out there this weekend and look around. So I figured I would just try anything that was somewhat cheap and I liked the look of. Insurance isn't the big thing for me anyways, because my boyfriend will be paying the insurance. I am just getting the car in my name and all that. We are thinking of putting me as the primary and him as the dependant so that it can help his credit. Guess we will really see what car we want to go for once we start driving them all.

You car insurance is based on where you live, your age, accidents/tickets and what kind of car/truck you drive, some cars/trucks cost above and beyond what is normal for repairs if you have an accident and it is reflected in your car insurance. Whenever you buy a car or truck and finance it you are required to carry full coverage.

Ya we plan on paying full coverage. I don't have any wrecks or anything on my record, but my boyfriend does. The one that was outradious was because it was a brand new car also. So for someone 21 years old and a new car that isn't that bad. Full coverage was around $115 a month I think. We are looking at alot of Jeep Grand Cherokee since you can find alot of them for cheap. We are going this weekend to look at a few and also look at a few Jeep Wranglers. We might be getting a car this weekend if we can find the right place that will give my boyfriend his payoff on his car!! YAY!!

Careful with the Jeep Cherokees...my step dad has always had one of these and it seems like he's always having to have something fixed.

My aunt got rid of hers because of that same reason!:(
Then on the way to skiing one day another friend that has one turned on the heated seat and it caught on fire!

My SIL and BIL had one also, and nothing but problems from day one, it was in the shop more than they drove it.
Go to google and look for reviews on the ones your considering, this way you will know the problems and repair history. Too bad car dealers didn't give a week return policy in case you changed your mind.

Also you have to be careful on how you finance it for insurance. When we bought the H2 we wasnt married yet so we both had to have a insurance plan since it was in both names. Once we got married it went down to normal.

Yep, they are nice, but not worth having to constantly put money in to it. :o

See that is what I though, but he swears that it will be ok. I just don't know what to do about a car but we HAVE to get rid of his. Little things just keep going wrong and I am tired of paying so much for that dang car. Plus he can't afford the insurance on it. Guess we will find out when we go this weekend. I just wish he never would have gotten that car. He needs a crappy honda or something.

Well if we don't trade in his car for whatever we get then I will be the one getting the car not him. He will just have to help me pay the insurance cause I will have to pay more to make sure that he is completely covered driving it. We are not spending more than $10000 on a car, and I told him we should wait a few months so I can save a little for a down payment.

How much are the taxes and stuff on cars normally? I found a car that I like and might go look at it, but you just have to pay the taxes and such on it, but I didn't know how much the tags and such were when you buy a car.

Tax title and licence were close to 3000 when I bought a 26,000 car.

I have a Jeep. I love it. They also have lifetime powertrain warranty. So does the Dodge. I think the Jeep cherokee gets the better gas mileage and it is cheaper. You can also get the lifetime warranty on them for bumper to bumper but it will cost ya. I think its like $2400.

This depends. Where I live because I live in a small town I have to pay state and city taxes. They go by your taxes that you would pay in Wal-mart, Target (Clothing, paper goods not food. Food is cheaper on taxes). In Missouri it is 7% not including my city taxes.
