Just a reminder of the Guidelines:

Take only what coupons you need.
Replace what coupons you take.
Try to include coupons that everyone will appreciate.
No coupons with expiration dates within 5 days.
Remove expired coupons. Cutting out the coupons is very important, especially when a bunch are added. There's simply no point in paying postage costs to mail expired coupons. You may mail them to the military or throw them away.
Mail the envelope to the next rider on the list within 3 days.
Please provide enough postage so as not to delay the train.
Limit your train riding to 3 trains or less. This prevents confusion and makes room for new passengers.
To help prevent train derailment, your e-mail address is required. If you have not been present on the site for awhile, your conductor will e-mail you when the train is headed to the passenger ahead of you. If you have not responded by the time the train is ready to be sent to you, you will be taken off the passenger list. This does not mean you are off the train permanently. You may always re-join your train by contacting your conductor.
Write the train Number on the envelope...some people are on other trains, and this helps to not get confused!

Hey Everyone...
I got a question from someone asking about what to do with Expired Coupons...
One option is to send them to the military.

I found a website that can help you get started with this..

The instructions are simple, and it's a great option.
It asks you to not send coupons that are more than two months old. Simply because it takes them a while to sort through them. I have a friend overseas right now, and the average time it takes for my letter to get to him is about 3 weeks or more. So keep this in mind. It also costs the same to mail an envelope over there, so theres no additional charges.

Usually new passengers go through the "waiting list Check-in Thread". Chris (momtofussbudgets) will assign you a train. It would be great for you to join my train, but I also am not sure of trains that are in need of passengers...so I would ask her first.

Hi all! I am VERY excited to join your coupon train! :D I gave Melissa the dates I will be on vacation since I do not want the train to get 'derailed' at all. (We are actually leaving for beach this Wed. and coming home next Wed.) so as I said if you need to bypass me while I am gone please do so.

I have started cutting out lots of coupons and putting them in a special coupon train bag just for you! :) Especially if I get two coupons of the same thing, etc.

You bring up a good point. We should all start getting into what type of coupons everyone uses. This way we can have a better idea of what kind of coupons to add to the train.

So,
Maybe it would be a good idea to post some of the coupons your most interested in. For example, I have dogs and a cat, so I'm interested in Dog and Cat Food. Also, I don't have kids, so I don't need diapers, toys etc.

I really want everyone to benefit from this coupon train, which is why it's important to incorporate coupons everyone can use..

Welcome April! I have a question for you? Does your base use the expired coupons? Or do we just send those overseas? (And do you know anyone who we can send them to- I hate throwing them out!) Personally, I LOVE P&G products- I'll have to make a list around the house! ;) LOL

Mel has a great point...I have two girls but at 11 and 13 they are out of diapers ;) so I will be putting those into the pile in case anyone needs them.
I have 9 going on 10 cats (husband is a Vet!) plus office kitties! :rolleyes: And one dog (very old)...our other one passed away last year at 16! We have the 'reject' animals but we love them. I will be sending a ton of dog food coupons and some cat food coupons since ours are on special diets. Poor Skippy (our dog) can only eat Purina One or he gets severly ill...he doesn't even do well with the expensive special diet foods. So you will see alot of things come your way. We haven't gone to a convention in a while but if I do, I'll pick up coupons for those of you who have pets (when I have a count)!

I will be sending coupons along because I don't know if someone's grandmother, nextdoor neighbor, etc. can use certain items...but if I see them come back around to me we can always take them out, right? Just don't want everyone to be paying extra for postage on items we aren't going to be using.

Good Question Nancy, I'd also would like to know if April can use expired coupons. This would be great because I know how much we all toss them away. I was actually looking for someone who lives on a military base which can use them. Even if you can't, maybe you know someone who can?? I could collect all the expireds and send them off? Just some ideas.

Unfortunately I can not use expired coupons:( I think that they can only use them overseas. I wish I knew of someone who could use them because I too hate throwing them away. The best thing I have seen going for the expired coupons is the link on this site that has been being passed around.

I have a 2 year old daughter and a chocolate lab. I can't really use pet food coupons as I only feed him Nutro brand dog food. My daughter is still in diapers...but I have about 6 boxes of diapers stocked up right now from getting good deals with sales and coupons:p.

I will try and compile a wish list for coupons that I would most like to get. I think if everyone does that then we will be more likely to be passing coupons that everyone can use!!!

I do have a two year old daughter who is still in diapers, but I have about 5 boxes of diapers currently from buying them when they are on sale and using coupons. I usually don't have a problem finding the pampers coupon for $1.50 off, but I can get Luvs way cheaper than that. So unless it is a luvs coupon, or something more than $1.50 off of Pampers I probably won't use it!!

Does anyone else need diaper coupons??

The train was received...I weeded out all expired and going to expire coupons.

Now I hope you ladies do not kill me BUT I had so MANY coupons to add that I needed to make new 'catagories' for the coupons. The paperclips could not hold them all! I made one just for drinks (coffee, juice, etc.), one for regfreg. items (all dairy, including milk- cookie dough,etc.) You get the idea. (I really must have had about 200 plus coupons! :eek:)

If you hate it -please change it... :o

It is now sent out to Tonya today in a HUGE envelope- so I hope all of you can use these coupons! :D

BTW, does anyone here color their hair at home? (I don't) Noticed ALOT of those coupons but put one in of my own ...thought I would ask- if answer is NO we could see if anyone else on another train needs them...if someone else notices something else getting "too many of" many we could post it to see if we will use it or should see if another train could use it- just an idea- instead of paying for the postage!

Thanks Nancy for the update. I love to hear some details about how the train is going. And thank you for taking out expireds. No one wants to get an envie full of coupons you can't use.
I color my hair at home, but not as often as I used to. I have super thick hair, and it used to be down to my waist so I would use Three boxes :eek: Now, my hair is much shorter and I use 1 MAYBE two at a time.... I'll only buy it if it's a good deal, so I guess what i'm saying is keep em in there and i'll try and use them.

This may sound awfull but I love when I am in line and the person behind me gets all annoyed and antsy because I have a stack of coupons. Then when the cashier gives me my new total, usually $70 less than the original total, that customers jaw drops to the ground. It's so funny. ;)

I got the train yesterday, WOW LOTS of coupons.

I felt as though we had way too many medicine coupons. I took most of them out.
Keep in mind that we want everyone to benefit from the train, so it's important to add coupons which all members can use.
I tossed many which are going to expire on the 31st.
Now that the train has gone almost a full round, we have an idea of what people are looking for/what coupons we shouldn't add.
Remember to look at everyone wishlists. We don't want to send over coupons no one can benefit from.
Also, I noticed that pretty much all the coupons were ones I already had. There's nothing wrong with that, but what I'm going to do is look for tear pads in the stores, because those usually contain coupons which are out of the ordinary, and have a longer experation day. Maybe it's something to think about in the future.

I was skipped because I was on vacation so Melissa sent it to Denise and Denise sent it to me now if I send it Teresa it will be back on track!! It doesn't matter to me either way, I do not want to be the conductor as I just don't have the time, but still want to be a rider!

Sorry Ladies! Its crazy here the past couple of days! I have everyone's info except for teresa. Does anyone know if she still wants to be on the train? I have them sorted into food and non food categories and put them into zilock bags. Ill start out new thread this afternoon after I mail them out. Thanks for your patience!
