Hello everyone! I was just wondering if there are any other Jan Karon fans out there? I absolutely LOVE her books. I find all the characters so interesting. Of course my favorite is Father Tim. Who could not love that man lol. He is like a big ol teddy bear. For those of you who arent familiar with her work. I URGE you to check out the "Mitford" series. They are such inspirational, well written, heartwarming stories you will not be able to put them down! :)

I love her books as well and have turned my MIL on to them as well as some friends. Her writing style makes you feel like you are there with the characters, like you know them as your best friends.

I love Jan Karon !!! Also try these authors. Maeve Binchy and Belva Plain. We have a great library here. They keep up with all the new releases. :D

If you have read the Jan Karon books and love them as much as I do, you should visit the website at www.mitfordbooks.com. You have to register to be able to read the Bulletin Board. It is quite active and has about 24,000 members. Of course, not all of them post.

The members are even planning to gather for the second time this fall. The first time was in 2005, but this time it will be inconjuction with a Mitford festival in Blowing Rock.

I have read all of her Mitford books and I hated to see them come to an end. Is she going to write anymore?

Another great christian author is Karen Kingsbury. Start with the Redemption Series and go from there.

Jan Karon has stated in several talks that I have heard her give, that she is finished writing the Mitford series. However, she is continuing with a Father Tim series of three books. The first one will be released in October, Home to Holly Springs with two more to follow later. One will be in Father Tim's anscestoral home of Ireland, and the other in Cynthia's ancestoral home of England.
Ms. Karon has stated that they will keep in touch with Mitford friends by email or cell phone.

I'm not a big reader but this sounds like I'm missing something!

If you crave more characters like Jan Karon's loveable characters, you will also like the "Harmony" Books by Phillip Gulley. I actually read these first and liked them so well that I read The Mitford Books because the Gulley critics likened his work to Jan Karon's." Home To Harmony" Is one of them.
Does anyone know if the new series is called The Father Tim Novels? Is that the one slated for release in Oct?

I am currently rereading the Mitford series. I read them once several years ago but am going through them again. It is funny how you can read something and then reread it and only remember bits and pieces of it. I just finished the second one and have started the third and I knew that the computer system was going to be in Father Tim's car when it got rear ended but I didn't know for sure when it would happen. Kind of funny isn't it?

I found At Home in Mitford at a yard sale for a quarter a couple of weeks ago. Loved it, but didn't realize it was part of a series until after I got it home. I can't wait to read all the others.
