We are planning on replacing our windows this year. I know I want the tilt and clean and I don't want them to have white frames , or wood. does anyone know what windows are best. I know we want to go with new construction and not replacements, and that dh will do the installation.Any suggestions.

In our last house we put in all new double pane windows, they were tilt outs also, they were so easy to clean!! I can't remember the brand though!! You can get almost any color for the frames, we chose white because it went with the look of the house.

Anderson windows are good.
Are rated as good as Pella. Anderson's don't cost as much here. I have Anderson storm doors and really like them..

we finally ordered our windows we went with the Pella they were definitely comparable to the Anderson's but Lowe's had 20% off all custom windows so we went there and got the Pella. I can't wait to get them and for dh to get them in.

we really needed them we could feel the wind through them and one is locked shut with a stick and the sad part is that my dh is a carpenter.

Don't you know when there is a professional in the house, that is the last thing to be done. My daughter has been waiting several years for her husband to redo the kitchen, and he is a contractor.

yup that's the way it goes. my sisters car never runs right she is married to a mechanic. My house will never get done unless I trade my dh in for a teacher of something. HEEHEE.

We get to pick up our windows tomorrow I can't wait oh I hope he puts them in this weekend. My windows are so dirty but I don't want to waist my time cleaning them just to take them out and put new ones in and then clean them too. (can we say lazy)

Yes, use the vinegar and water and a squeegie, mop the mixture on and use the squeegie to take it off. Give it a shot. Once you get use to using a squeegie you will see how easy it is.
