We used to say words related to where we were going & the route we were taking, and our daughter would sound them out and spell them. She's 26 now, so we don't really play travel games anymore :( , but that was always her favorite.

For me, car games were unnecessary as I slept on road trips (still do - just ask my co-workers, lol). When I was 5, we drove from Tx to Los Angeles to see family and do disneyland - the first day of driving my parents let me sleep a lot and when we stopped for the night I pretty much bounced off the walls of the motel, the next day it was Mom's "job" to keep me awake so that I would sleep at night so they could too.
