White Elephant Gift Exchange!! (sign up by Mon. June 2nd to join) [Archive]

We all have a White Elephant around somewhere..... that thing that is too good to throw away, just isn't your thing, doesn't match the decor, is really useful - to someone else, is taking up closet space, etc.

This swap is pretty easy. Just find that item that's awsome, cool, useful, nice, but just not to you, and get ready to package it up and send it to a new home! In a short while, you will receive someone else's, and it could be just about ANYTHING! lol

Sign up deadline is midnight, Monday, June 2nd, and packages can be sent anytime shortly after names are exchanged (hopefully within the week, tho, if possible).

On this exchange, since we don't know WHAT is coming, would you have more fun being able to know who it's coming from? I can just post the senders and recipients if you guys want. :D

That "lovely" sweater Aunt Martha gave you for Christmas, the picture your MIL gave you that matches her decor, the little figurine that's so cute but matched before you redecorated, the 2nd toaster you got as a wedding gift - just any kind of thing is a good White Elephant.

Oh! Now that you have given me some ideas.. I think I still have a couple of small items that I haven't used, that maybe I could pass along to someone else that might!!

We had a white elephant auction for my family reunion once. I brought this lamp I had. It was nice, but didn't match anything at my house. It was one of those white glass ones with yellow roses. I had no use for it, it was decent, and apparently other people liked it 'cause it went for $40 at a family reunion! :eek: No one should send anything that is actually "junk", it is just a thing that's nice and decent at all, they just have no use for it.

Oh, sheesh! No one would hate anything from you, I'm sure! I think this is kinda silly and fun. I figure either I will get something and really like it, I will get something and get a good laugh out of it, or I will get something that someone I know can use or would like. Or, it can be re-white elephanted later if this one works out well. LOL Then again, there's always the Salvation Army. :D The possibilities are endless..... ;) Oh, well, Brandy. If it goes well, maybe you'd like to do it next time then. HUGS!!!

I didn't mean junk exactly, I wouldn't send junk either, you just send something you have no use for anymore, could be a collectors plate, a Statue, Candles, a clock, or a gift you got once and have no use for, not something that is broken/cracked or should of been thrown out in the trash, it's just a fun thing to do, please reconsider, we want you in this too!! Besides, I was going to throw in some hundred dollar bills for padding......HA HA

I figured out what I am sending! You know even though you have all of those things that don't match or you just can't use, you can't really decide what to give? You almost want to keep it and be like well I can use it later. Well my person is going to get something nice. I really like it, but just never use it. Maybe you will! The bag came camping with us this weekend and I was great to put everything in when we went swining and such. a friend just got a cool one simmilar to the one you send.
