I have been reading this site daily for the past week and one of things i've read is about not getting many free samples from startsampling. I have also read many times about members who like me have been her a long time and because they didn't get enough free samples they stopped answering the surveys.

Is it possible this is one of the reasons they don't get a lot of samples anymore? If people are just getting the freebies and not following up startsampling isn't getting the required feedback these companies want so in turn startsampling gets less and less samples to offer.

I don't know it was just a thought. :)

I am not sure about everything you said but I do know that Start Sampling is the company behind the WalMart samples - when you get to the screens where you fill in your address you are on their URL. Also I noticed that most of the Dove and Procter & Gamble samples are powered by StartSampling as well. My hunch is that most brands want to sample either on their websites or on retailer websites like WalMart and StartSampling helps them sample wherever they want even if it is not on startsampling.com itself.

I have been a member since the year 2000 and was one of those whom was able to accumulate enough points and get something from when they have a long list of prices. After that I continue to get my miles "points". I visit the site every day because I find out that, I do get credit just for visiting, answering to the polls, referring people and providing my feedback.

I do agree that is not like before when we will come in and select a sample daily. That the samples were arriving faster and other things already mention by some of you. I just wish that when things like this happens, they would come up clean to the faithful consumers like us and tell us something. It does not have to be detail. But a simple explanation of "hey things will be slow for a period" but continue to visit to earn points. Blah, Blah. I hope that now that I'm close to my 5,000 I could finally get the blessed clip LOL.:)

I am really glad to hear from people who have received some good prizes. I have never turned mine in I have almost 12,000 and like you said I visit every day because I know if I don't miss a day every I think its 15 days you get bonus points. I did donate for the 9-11 thing they did but for some reason I think those points was returned.I have enjoyed all the magazines and free samples I have received.

Lets face it I would never order boating,skiing etc.. but thanks to startsampling I have had that pleasure.I have recieved mags I didn't even know exsisted. :)

OH yeah those MINTS were sooo gross, the containers were cute, but then they did have the SS logo on them......and of course I did receive the screw driver set that was a joke........lol and now it is hard to get anything cause they are always out!

I got two tins of those mints also... they were caffinated, like "Penquin" mints. They're supposed to be geared towards adults, so they're a little bitter- but I thought they tasted ok. I made the mistake of placing one of the tins near the computer, and kept reaching over and grabbing a new mint every 30 minutes or so- before long, I was wired for sound! ;)

You just have to check in everyday, you do not have to do anything else, and you will get 10 points per day, that is how we get the points, takes along time to gather those points!

I have accumulated my points by visiting the site daily then like every 15 days if you don't miss you get bonus points. I also answer every survey that usually gets 10. I did work about 7 days a week for four years and sometimes had lapses but for the most part I pop in daily for my 10 points. :)

I've been a member since 1996 and have over 22,500 points!! And I've still never received any gifts!!!! But I love coming to this website and will continue, even though it's not the same as it used to be. I've received many free samples and am still getting free samples through the forum links. One positive change that I love are the helpful hints because the website is now interactive. Keep up the good work!!

I sign in everyday and don't always get my points. I have to really surf around on the site for awhile before they show up. Is anyone else having this problem?:confused:

I too have been a StartSampling Member a long time; since 1998 I think. I would fill the forms to get the "points" but they would raise them as soon as I was ready to cash in.
This is NOT the main sight of StartSampling. The main sight offers nothing to it's long term members anymore.
I don't like surveys. Free offers that supposedly offer you a full size item??
These surveys, I have NEVER got to the end of. I'm talking about signing up for credit cards, buy heath Insurance and taking loans for buying a new car and taking a Realtor to sell your home. It doesn't end... I have never had anyone tell me they have gotten anything from these "survey free sample" offers.
When I see these offered in other blogs and complain I get yelled at for being rude.
StartSampling logs your address in a filter so you cannot request twice.
Wall-Mart permits you to request an item more than once IF it is not backed by StartSampling.
Yet there are ways to get around this.
Use initials instead of full name. Alter you address slightly, change from long full words to abbreviation. Most of all use an alternate email. Thus you now can receive a second sample.

I have been going to StartSampling for a number of years. At first they were giving really good prizes for 5000 points. (I have a tshirt that I wear all the time.) Now they keep the same prizes. How many clip, staplers, screw driver sets can you use?

.........maybe we should just star boycotting this site--so much work for so little points...junky prizes, prizes not available, very few samples....it all boils down to this.......why are we wasting our time???? Many people have submitted their favorite sample site--some of them are LOADED with samples...WalMart has ben giving away lots of samples....we all must be creatures of habit coming back to STARTSAMPLING over and over for nothing....personally I'm pretty busy with 'mom stuff', my job, and my volunteer time....think I'll start devoting the 10-15 min. I spend every day here to sites that really have something to offer!!!!!!!! :confused:

:) I have been a member for 7 years. I enjoy going to Start Sampling every day and doing surveys and whatever I can to get a few points. I only used 5000 points once on a candle (which was junk.) I told them about it and they mailed me another one. The first one burned about 10 seconds and fizzled out! I'm up to 23,800 points and have seen nothing in ages that I would want to use them one. I kind of wish they would offer the members who have a large amount of points a really nice gift instead of little things.

I don't worry about the points anymore. I keep an eye on the site and order when something is there. I agree about the magazines. I like to read them and have ordered some of them. I have also noticed other sites such as Olay have the SS name. I really liked the forums they added. I have been using them.

I quit worrying about the points a couple years ago. It is very disappointing that you can not use them for anything. To me that is faulse promising. I am not really sure why points are still given. :confused:

I don't think about the points. every now and then I check in just to see how many I have.Since the forum opened I started popping in just to see what it was about. I started visiting more frequent.Now I am a moderator now and I think that shows i enjoy this site.I look forward to reading the post of the regulars.

Members often complain that SS doesn't give enough samples well I feel this forum makes up for it.If you don't get a mailbox full after you visit here your doing something wrong.

Someday the point thing will get resolved and I'll have a gazzilion points and get to use them if not what am i really out? I got a ton of freebies and met some great people in the process!

I agree i have been a memeber since 2000 and have come on and checked everything did the surveys, replied to everything that was asked of me. At least once a week or maybe twice a day I would be able to get a sample. (sort of harder for me as I live in Hawaii and all of you MAINLANDERS BEAT ME TO THEM!!! HAHAHAHA but i kept trying!!! ) in the start w/ ur points u could get all kinds of things, then it went to u can get this and that... but alas they were always out of them.. but i still came back. i will always come back to this site as they have turned me on to so many things i would have never bought before in my life. i had never came on to the forum as i really didnt know what it was about... notice i have been hanging out a lot here now. lol . i just wish like the rest of you do that we could get the companies to put their samples on startsampling where they belong!!! i do have a question tho... it use to be that on some of the samples only "certain" people were allowed to get those samples.... what was up with that may i ask? okay now the house is calling out to be cleaned.... ugh! have a wonderful day one and all....... aloha

I have been a member since forever it seems and have ac***ulated nearly 20,000 points but I've never been able to find anything to redeem them on. I wish that StartSampling could do like and offer gift cards or something to its members. At that site, I've managed to get $60 in Walmart gift cards just by checking out emails and shopping;) I had gotten to where I wasn't stopping by this site much anymore until these forums opened up simply because there were seldom any samples to select. I keep hanging in there and hoping especially as I see the StartSampling logo at other sites.

I am a big fan of My Points as well. My hubby and I both do it. We save our points all year, redeem them for gift cards mid-November, and use the gift cards to buy our kids some Christmas presents. Every little bit helps!
