They will always be $249.99 but I know that alot of the Sam's Clubs have been getting them if you have a membership there. If not then I would call GameStop everyday. Sometimes they even get used ones (they have a 1 year guarentee wtih them if you get a used one) and they are normally atleast $50 cheaper.

We almost bought one a couple days ago at one of the Wal-marts near us. It was still $249.99.

I found one for a friend at Wal-Mart. I had to be there at opening time on a Sunday morning to get in. They give a limited number of tickets out. I actually went at 6:30 and grabbed one of nine tickets.:p

The price will never come down as long as the demand stays so high.

exactly. the only way you can get somewhat of a discount is to go to gamestop or somewhere that buys them back and you buy a used one. even then as long as the demand is there, you wont get much off. i think its only like $50 you get off.

I was able to get one at our local fred Meyers. They were the only store in town that had any I think.
In fact they had a whole new bunch of them (249.00$) . Probably the going price. Can't wait to get it set up. We haven't bought any other games to go with it, just have the one that came with it.

If you use the wii as part of your fitness, try the WiiFit. It just came out yesterday, but it is awesome. It has yoga on it, running, boxing, and you can even snowboard on it! It is really cool. I am buying it soon, but I played it at the store.

I'm thinking about getting a wii for my husband and I to play. The guy at Best Buy said the things we would need (or the things he suggested) would be about $400:
Console at $250 which includes cables, 1 remote, 1 nunchuck, 1 game with 5 games in it then for multiplayer, we should get the other sports game pack Wii Play which is around $50 and includes more sports games and an extra controller, an extra nunchuck is only about $15 and then he suggested the remote charging station which is around $70 or so. Then there's the old school style gun which isn't Nintendo brand, but it's about $15. I'd like to get the wii fit when they're back in stock too, but just wanted to check with those who have one and see if there's anything else we would need for 2 players to play.
Also, I heard you could download old school games - anyone tried that yet? Some game called Cook Off looks fun to me. I saw Playground and Mario Galaxy as a bundle at Sams Club for $75.

The charging stations, check half.com or even ebay, cause they are only like $20-$30 on there. The old school games you can download, I love them. We downloaded Super Mario 64, and you use the old school controller for it. It is great. We even downloaded this one game that is from the first nintendo, its a racing game, I can't remember the name but we played it as kids. Also if you want games that are not brand new, try GameStop because you can get used ones for cheaper, and they have a 1 year warranty on them, so if they skip or anything you take them back and they will give you a new one. That has saved us ALOT of money. Another good way to save money is once you beat a game, if you don't think you will play it much, sell it to GameStop. They give you pretty good prices for them. And sometimes they have deals where they will give you an extra 10% on the games you turn in. GameFly is a good way to see what games you like without having to buy them, but if your not good at playing the game right away so you can send it back if you don't like it I would not do it because it is like $20/month. We had it for awhile and my boyfriend loved it but he is not good at playing them right away. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help! DH has a $100 Best Buy gift card to go towards the console that's why we were looking there, but why get all the other accessories there too?! I'll definately check out those sites, and stop by the Gamestop on my way home! I remember getting good deals on xbox games there before. Blockbuster probably has wii games for rent too - I haven't even been on that side of their store in YEARS!
Glad us 'adults' can play these video games too! ('adult' is still funny to me - I just turned 26 yesterday!)

Ok, so we ended up getting a wii today! Just spent nearly 2 hours just playing the sports games it came with. SO MUCH FUN!! I'm sure you don't have to, but I was jumping around the room swinging the wii-mote playing tennis against my DH. He was getting a kick out of it. I'm not out of shape, but I could see working up a sweat playing those. I'm going to try boxing tomorrow, we have to get a second nunchuck for that one!

my brother had one already, so i have played it tons. I got a new game though (well one my brother has not had yet). I didn't play it much though cause we went to my friends house to hang out with her, her bf, and her brother. They got a new puppy and it was SO cute! I am going to play it today though! And my little cousins come in town tomorrow so im sure I will play it tons with them!!!

What are some good games that you actually have missions on that get you up and really get you going??? I love the Wario game, but I am having a hard time finding it in stores, so I am looking online today!

Ya I really like all the get up games like that. The sports ones are the best for the Wii. I really want the Wario game, but our Gamestop didn't have it. We are going to try and see if the other one by us has it tonight. If not I will just have to order it when I get paid on Tuesday. My brother has one of the Tom Clancy games, I will have to try it. I like fun games where you don't really have to kill people. I grew up on Mario, so that is what I love. My boyfriend plays Saints Row for Xbox, and man that game is horrible. They are coming out with a new one, so I am going to order it for him, but I only let him play it when I need him to leave me alone so I can get stuff done.

So just a warning to those of you that have a Wii, don't buy the Deca Sports game. Some of the controls don't work well and they just aren't as fun as I thought they would be.

We found a Wii Fit and have a friend that is going to go and try to get one for us. They said they had 4 in stock and it is way in the boonies, so hopefully we will have one by tonight!!! We are getting one for my mom also because yoga helps her MS, and it has yoga! I am keeping my fingers crossed they still have 3 when she gets there. The guy said he would "accidentally" throw a towel over them so no one saw them in the back!:D

No matter where you go, they will be the same price. They don't ever have any of that stuff on sale. The Wii console comes with the sports disc, one controller, and one nunchuck. The other controller and nunchuck will be an extra $60. Some places have a deal where if you buy a Wii sometimes they will give you like a $15 gift card or something, but the Wii will never be on sale, nor will the accessories besides games. It is worth the full price though!

Haha, I will have to read that. It is hard. I mean I never knew how sensitive that freaking board would be. It is crazy. It can tell if you are not standing completely even on both feet, and I mean like even if your 0.1% on your left foot more. The yoga, you have to do it perfect or it will tell you. It gets on to me more than my yoga teacher did! Snowboarding is amazing though, even though you have to really work to get it unlocked! Hula hoop is my favorite so far though!

Ya we just happened to hear that one of the stores out in the country had 5 of them, so we had a friend that lived close who went and got us 2! It is really nice. You will love the yoga, but you have to unlock moves, so you actually have to do the other stuff also.

GOT A WII FIT YESTERDAY!!!
My cousin stopped by my work and said he may have a game store that has the wii fits and asked if he should pick me up one!! So, the whole day goes by and finally around 4:30, he stopped back by again with one! :)
Another new Game Stop opened in town, and they had some!
I played last night and had a great time! Did all the yoga moves (that are open initially), some aerobics (that step class was fun) and some of the balance games (I was terrible at the soccer game!)

The advanced step class is crazy, you have to do turns and clap and all this other stuff. I would just play my bum off so that I could open more. We finally opened snowboarding and its fun but harder than I thought it would be!

Whew - last night worked up a sweat!! I decided to try the pushup with the arm extension thing - yeah, I still do not like pushups!! It didn't help that our puppy thought I was there for him to lick my face. I did get 100 pts on it though, I think as long as you try it and finish, you get the points.
DH tried soccer and aced it on the first try! :( I'll get better!!! Advanced step sounds fun too!
And HULA HOOP!!! That one does a number on the thighs. I was laughing thinking if someone stopped by our house and peeked in the front door, they'd see me there in the middle of the room moving my hips! haha! DH was cracking up watching me do that one. Then came super hula hoop - not so good on the reverse hip swinging.
I love wii fit!! Trying for 30 minutes a day and so far, it's been so easy to get just 30 mins in because each activity is nice and short, I don't get bored!

Yeah it is a game. It originally came out for the Nintendo gamecube, then to the Nintendo DS.

You are a villager in your own town. There are animals that are villagers in your town. You pay off your home loan by doing things around town, then you get to upgrade your house making it bigger. You can decorate your house. You can visit other peoples town via WiFi. Here is a website dedicated to Animal Crossing forums etc. http://www.animalcrossingcommunity.com/

I will warn you, this is a very addicting game. =)

It sounds fun! I wanted to get the Sims game for the Wii, but just haven't done it yet. This might be just as good!! Thanks for letting me know. I got Dance Dance Revolution, and it is definately a good game. They have a workout mode and everything. You even use your hands in this one! I was dancing to Karma Chameleon last night and I wanted to go faster than beginner so I uped it to Pro or whatever, and man! I don't see how people could get their feet to move that fast, let alone get their brain to go along with it! It was definately a work out! And my boyfriend found it pretty funny with me jumping around on the mat with my legs going like crazy and still failing it!:p

Do you know of any other workout 'games' for wii fit??
I really like the yoga on the disc that came with the wii fit , but as with all of the other games on that disc, it's a pain to have to retry or use the controller to go to a different move. I really hope they come out with a yoga 'game' where you can do a 30 minute yoga routine without touching the controller/wii-mote.
I saw the Active Life Outdoor Challenge game which is coming out soon -that looks FUN! And according to Amazon, the game comes with the mat for $60!

Ya it does come with the mat, and it is not that much more than normal games. It will definately be a workout. Dance Dance Revolution has a work out mode on it. That game takes alot more than I ever thought it did. As far as workout games though, I think they are making some now, but I don't think they really have any others. Workout, if you consider none stop moving, could be anything really fast. I like the Boxing workout on the WiiFit under Aerobics. You have to unlock it because it is the bottom left box, but once you get the 10 minute one, you will be sweating after! It goes kind of slow, but you do it for so long. I can't wait for more workout games though!

I do like the boxing too! I've been using the free step while watching TV to get an extra 30 minutes of some sort of exercise in when I don't feel like doing much else.
I'm just laughing picturing my uncoordinated self on dance dance revolution! I think I tried it once at Dave and Busters and just could not get the rhythm down (although alcohol was involved and may have aided to my uncoordination!)
Yeah for Wii! DH wants to try the newest Tiger Woods Golf game, I can't believe how realistic it looks.

I have heard great things about that game. You actually have to hit the ball as if you were in real life. That would be cool if they made one using the fit board so that they can tell exactly how you are standing! I played at Dave and Busters (alcohol was involved also) and it took me a little to get the hang of it. This one has really easy modes or really hard modes. I can't get past about the 2nd one on the songs, but it is fun. The one and D&B is VERY different though. The Wii one is fun especially now that we have 3 so people can battle!:D

Ya they are going really fast. They did a article on them yesterday saying that if you want one you better start looking now for Christmas, because they are already getting to where you can't find them.

I got the Active Life game, and it is just like I remembered when I was little, but has WAY more games now. The mat can be used for a single player or two, so you don't have to go buy another like you do for Dance Dance. It is a really fun game. It has a TON of different games on it, so I do suggest getting it. You have to run and jump hurdles and all that good stuff. You even have to sit on the mat on one game!

I am actually better than him. So if anyone has a Wii and anyone in their family even somewhat likes to fish, this game is good to get. The controls take awhile to get used to but once you get them it is alot of fun. You even get to drive the boat and decide where you want to fish!

We got
AMF Bowling Pinbusters which is either going back to the store or on craigslist (not good at all, stick with wii bowling),
Game Party wich is great with darts, ski ball, beer pong and other games, and
an old school racing game Cruizin, like at the arcades.
The later 2 games are great. I'd even like Game Party 2 (Bean Bags, Horseshoes, Lawn Darts, Puck Bowling, Quarterback Challenge, Trivia, Hoop Shoot, Ping Cup, Shuffleboard, Skillball, Darts) and maybe Hasbro's Family Game Night which is digital versions of old school board games like Boggle, Yahtzee, Battleship, Sorry, and Connect Four. That may be the only way to get DH to play boardgames. We've also got Carnival Games, Active Life Outdoor Challenge, My Fitness Coach and Cooking Mama Cookoff on our list of games to get.

I have Carnival Games, Active Life, and I got my mom Fitness Coach. I know the two I have are fun. I used to play a similar version to Active Life when I was little. It is great. My mom has not tried the Fitness Coach, but it is not that expensive either. Next time I go over there I plan on trying it, so I will let you know! My brother had the Game Party, and it was fun. The Game Party 2 sounds like the Reneck Jamboree game they have now. But that has like ring toss with toilet seats and stuff. http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/games/pid/7679783/a/Calvin+Tucker%27s+Redneck+Jamboree.htm

Redneck Jamboree looks funny! How is Monopoly?
I use wii fit once in a while, but don't like how you can't do a whole routine without pausing between different moves to choose the next move. Fitness Coach sounded like it was good for that. I almost got Jillian Michaels' (from that biggest loser show) Fitness game, but heard it was nearly impossible and not even fun. Fitness Coach is only around $30 - let me know how it is please :)
Paintball sounds interesting. DH downloaded old school Mario Bro's and we've been playing that and reminiscing!

Ha ya we downloaded Mario 64. I loved that one. Paintball is fun but it is hard to control, and it is only one player. Thanks for letting me know about the Jullian game, I almost got that too. I wish you could do all the wii fit routines in a row too. I just like that they are coming out with lots more games for the balance board, so it was worth the money. I will probably be going over to see my mom this week, so I will let you know!

Most the places I read negative things about games are true. I have gotten a few used games after I heard they were bad, and they were horrible. Maybe someone on here can give you an idea of how good or bad it is. I didn't play the Fitness Coach yet. There were too many people over there yesterday to play it:rolleyes:

I always wondered if this one was good. Thanks for letting me know, I will have to get it now. We got monopoly from my brother for Christmas, and it is fun! You can play mini games (called Richest games) that are faster and a little different, but they are fun. You unlock all these other boards and we are trying to open the last board (Cardboard!). If you ever liked playing monopoly you would like this!

Also if anyone has a DH or son that likes to fly, the Blazing Angels is a good one. My dad LOVED it and Seth did too. He beat it in one day. Also fishing is great. It is hard to learn at first, but I am addicted to it!

I have Animal Crossing City Folks and it is fun to play...

if anyone else has that game let me know and pm me your friends code .

we can trade fruits and items... I got every fruit except Peaches..

I have Cherries as the starter fruit, got the coconut from the beach, got Apples from one of my friends, then got Pears and Oranges from my animal neighbors.

if you send your animals neighbors fruits, and items they will send something back to you. never can get peaches if I send them cherries all the time, they send me items. sometimes they send me something I can use if it is something I can't use then i send it to another animal.. haha..

i don't have the wii speak yet I don't think I will get it... but it is a pain to try to talk to people using the type in thing on the screen and it don't give you enough space to have a good chat going in the game. it is hard to communicate. if you have tons of people who you play animal crossing with then you might need to get wii speak add on.

------------------------

My Sims Kingdom is not that great... But it is not a kids game it is more like 12 or older.. It's little hard, there is a lot of reading involved in this game. if your child hates reading then do get this game.. There are some things that a child might get frighten in the game.. Adults will find humor in it... a child might not understand some of it...

I thought when I got this game that it would be like the other sims games, like build things freely, nope this game is about Wizard type person and go from island to island helping people out. you build them houses, help them build things to water their plants, do electrical work. But to do those things you have to gather items to get scrolls. have to mine the walls to get metal, gold, silver. shake trees to get fruits and mana.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Wii Music is more like a learning tool for children to learn music ... I would stick to Guitar hero and rockstar, if you have older children and if your adult.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I got wii play because it came with a remote. Wii play is fun...

------------------------------------------------------------

I plan to get more games later on. I over spent for the Christmas season :P

I plan to get wii fit, mario karts, and other sporty / fun games...

I seen in ads they have a few games on sale that are under 20 bucks.

--------------

I also heard that the internet for the wii, is not that good because it does not support flash, so all you can do is read the news or search for info. but can't go to sites that have flash and play games etc.. it cost 5 bucks to get the internet channel...

I think it might be worth getting some of the games that are listed in the wii shopping channel. they are old games there are a few fun games. for 5 to 10 bucks.

I like the concept of the wii. there are many options for the whole family to play. I like that I can exercise and still have fun.

Oh my gosh.. soooo good to know that I'm not the only mom who's addicted to wii. I actually purchased mine while on vacation 7 months ago, happened to be in the right place at the right time. I start playing and 6 hours later I realize I haven't eaten and etc. Each member of our family holds different records both on the wii fit and sports. It has become such a competition, when I became the record holder in bowling I called my sister (who also has a wii) in South Carolina so excited she thought I had won the lottery..LOL Thanks for all the info on the games been thinking about buying more, I REALLY want rock band. Well signing off now, the wii bug has bitten again.

I want Rockband too!! I watch half.com to see if I can get really good deals on the games and a lot of times you can. I got Dance Dance Revolution and 2 pads on that website for $35 AFTER shipping!! Also now a lot of places are marking down prices cause they are not selling games as much with the economy. Plus people are having to sell their games for extra money. Ebay is also good for getting used games for cheap! I have found the internet is a lot better on used games than GameStop unless they have the buy 2 get 1 free deal like the ladies have told me on here.

Dance Dance Revolution (you can get the pads on ebay for like $20 for 2). Once you get the pads you can get multiple dance games. They are coming out with a Disney one in April.

Yes it can be hard. They have easy songs to pro songs. The easiest ones are kind of dumb, you basically shake the remote. So the middle ones are fun. If you try the hardest ones you laugh so hard at how fast they go and how you can't keep up. We had 2 people playing each other and you just laugh. I would buy it used (either as a pack or get the game and get pads on ebay).

Anyone know about Tiger Woods for the wii? DH loves golf games, but I want to make sure it's decent before dropping $50 on a GAME!

I was at Gamestop last night and the guy there said My Fitness Coach is a good workout game, but it doesn't use the balance board, it's more like a work out video. He said Jillian's Ultimate Fitness 'game' busts your butt and uses the balance board, so I may try that one after all. But then, she's coming out with 2009 in April.

Then, EA Sports is coming out with a fitness game that can be used with the balance board, or not. It's called Active and looks pretty neat - has circuit workouts. Supposed to be out sometime soon. www.easportsactive.com

Then one more that sounds interesting is a followup to Wii Sports - Wii Sports Resort. Will use some clip on device, somewhat like and accelerometer called MotionPlus, to the wii-mote to allow for better movement sensitivity and will have games like frisbee, jet skiing, better boxing, sword play (may finally break down and get those wierd light saber attachments! ha!) Looking for it to be out this summer.

I tried My Fitness Coach, and it is really good. It is like a workout video but you have to do quite a bit to get your profile done. I didn't think it would be that hard to do jumping jacks for 2 minutes but it is. It also has a lot more yoga, and it has pilates!!! You can pick a 15,30,45, or 60 minute workout. I really like it and it is only $30.
