I recently received that sample. I think from start sampling. I bought it after trying the sample. It makes my daughters hair so soft and silky.

I wanted to get that sample but the survey (Startsampling) wasn't well prepared. It asked what kind of shampoo I currently use and the one I use wasn't listed, so I couldn't continue with the survey which of course, I couldn't get the sample. That stinks!

I signed up for this offer a few weeks ago and within minutes, I had received an email from them, spoofing my own personal email address. I was livid. Let me explain, for those of you who don't understand... I received an email from my own personal email address. I did a double-take. It "appeared" as though I had emailed myself, but I hadn't. I clicked on the email, and low and behold... it's an advertisement from Sunsilk, telling me "You're friend Lori (ME!) wanted you to try new Sunsilk..." . First of all, I didn't agree to let Sunsilk email *anyone* on my behalf, and I certainly didn't give them permission to make the advertisement look like it was personally emailed from me, using my own personal email address in the "sender/from" field (email address spoofing)!

I've been online since 1989, and I have never had my email spoofed even once, before signing up for Sunsilk. I went back to the site and attempted to use the "contact us" link, which was amazingly not working. I finally went to Unilever's corporate site, and fired off an email to them, telling them I was highly disappointed that a company of such reputation would stoop to such unscrupulous tactics in the name of advertisement. Within a few days, I got a standard reply, asking me for my phone number! For what, so I could call myself and advertise for them? So they could spoof my phone number too? At any rate, I told them no, I wasn't sending them my phone number and I could be contacted at the very address they spoofed. I told them they could keep their free sample. I got no reply.

Ah well, just thought I'd give them a little "word of mouth" from the *real* me.

rainsong did you request the sample from gethairapy or elsewere

Requested it from gethairapy.com, and the spoofed email contains a link back to that site. It would be one thing if they used their own address in the "from" field, and said something like "Free sample from your friend Betty" in the "subject" field... but that's not the case. They're actually making the email appear to have been mailed from you. Not cool.

You probably put your own E-mail address in

You must have inadvertantly put your own address in the box that read, "Spread the Word - Your Friend's E-mail Address." That's an easy enough mistake to make if you're not paying attention.

Irrelevant... even if by some fluke my address got added to that field, it still doesn't give them a right to make it look like the advertisement was personally emailed from me. It's a shady tactic to not only over-ride spam filters, but to trick your friend into opening their advertisement.

All the news web sites do it when you E-mail a story to a friend... even Yahoo. It's a common practice.

Roaches are common too. It doesn't mean we have to accept them. :D

I Have Had Problems In The Past And Must Say That I Had To Contact Unilever Myself. I Received A Very Good Response From Them, Not Only Did They Answer My E-mail And Take Care Of My Problem But Sent Me Some Really Good Coupons To Use. I Can See Why You Would Not Want Them To Have Your Phone Number, But You May Want To Give Them Another Chance To Take Care Of Your Problem;)
