 Humm, I have so many different collections.. since I live in a lake resort community our house is decorated with lodge/northwoods look items, Moose, fish, antler chandelier, moose dinnerware, throws etc, but my real passion is Roosters, I love them, and have enough that people can see I love them, not overbearing in number, but I could probably fit in a few more, I can always make room for something! I use to be a heart fan too, with jewelry such as heart necklaces, rings, knic knacks....still have some of them.

In a nutshell, I collect toys. Mainly action figures from movies, tv and popular icons. My largest collections are Small Soldiers, Muppets, Grinch, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Jurassic Park, Toy Story and Monsters Inc. I used to collect anything and everything associated with them - but in the past couple of years I've become a bit more discriminating with my picks. :p

I collect antiques. I like to call them scratch and dent antiques, because I aquire them from family members, flea markets and sometimes the side of the street. I have even rescued items from barns and historic homes that are being demolished. I clean up and redo these abandoned treasures and decorate every room in my house with them. Furniture, pictures, nin-nacs ... I love the adventure!

I have had to quit collecting a couple of years ago, the house is FULL!!! Literally, wall to wall, on the floor, packed in boxes , etc. But I collected Roseville Pottery, close to 300 pieces.
I have TONSSSSS of Homer Laughlin dinnerware, some from the late 1800s.
I have hundreds of pieces of hand-painted glassware/****tail bar sets, shot glasses, etc made by Gay Fad Studios, made from 1940s to mid 1960s.
I have around 75 reverse-painted silhouettes, popular from the 1920s thru the 60s.
I love anything from the 50s, I have about 7 enamel kitchen carts, the ones that have 2, mostly 3 shelves, In several colors.
Some Frankoma, Weller, Hull, Royal Haegar, Royal Copley pottery pieces. A few Made in Japan and Occupied Japan. pieces. And other stuff I cant remember!!!!
And it is for sale if anyone is interested, seriously.

If you have any virginia rose pattern in homer laughlin you might send me a pm. I have a platter that belonged to my grandmother. I use it all the time for cookies. Someone saw it and mentioned they collected that pattern for there granddaughter Virginia Rose.

Virginia Rose refers to the shape made by Homer Laughin, there is not an actual "pattern" (the decaled decoration) called Virginia Rose. There were probably 100+ decaled decorations put on the shape, so I wouldnt know what she collects. A lot of people see the words Virginia Rose on the back of the dinnerware and think that is the design they see on the front, but it is just the shape name.
I only have a very few pieces of the shape because I didnt like it.
Sorry if this sounds "technical", but without a picture of exactly what she collects, I dont know if I have a piece.

I couldn't tell ya either. The piece I have is kinda oblong a little scallop aropund the edge maybe .I don't know it was grandmas and I love to put cookies on it.
I really think they thought it was a pattern just reading what you wrote and knowing what they said. Thanks anyway!!

If you just want to see examples for the fun of it, go to ebay and do a search for Homer Laughlin Virginia Rose and you should see lots of different designs on the pieces. but a lot of people will still say that a particular flower is Virginia Rose, but they will be wrong. lots of the decorations have names like Moss Rose or Fluffy Rose, Tulips in a Basket, etc etc. SOOOOOO many pretty things to look at with Homer Laughlin, I loved collecting it. Now Im stuck with it!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info! The other thing I just recently acquired I actually gave it to my sis. It was a Tom & Jerry bowl with cups made by h.l. it was a yellow color. I don't know if it was worth anything if it was the value went down when I accidently broke the handle off one of the cups.But...I fixed it with trusty super glue! lol

do you mean it was cream colored, not yellow? Tom and Jerry sets are kind of common, I havent seen many complete sets where everything is perfect. I still think they are pretty. If you broke a cup handle, that definitely reduces the value. the color is actually Vellum, if I remember correctly with my age-addled brain. darker than cream, not quite yellow,
Tom and Jerry is a very old-timey beverage made with eggs, sugar, cloves, allspice cinnamon and rum--I never knew that til I collected. YUCK. I cant stand eggnog, probably a preclude to that.

Thanks for the info. yes its cream colored not yellow. I never like egg nog either until a few years back a friend of mine kept telling me to try this A&E brand. Finally I agreed to one taste. It tasted just like a custard pie which I like.So now I have joined the area locals in looking forward to A&E's seasonal egg nog. They really know how to make egg nog drinkable. Thanks again!

I love palm tree stuff, I dont collect it, I just love them tho! I live only 280 miles from the Gulf Coast and that is where I have gone all my life, so I love beachy stuff. Have you got a charm bracelet, I see the cutest palm tree charms all the time. I like martini stuff too, not to collect, just like it when I see it. T shirts, I do have an adorable charm that is a mixed drink with a straw, done in different colors, real beachy and summery. Palm tree stuff is cool!

I don't have a bracelet - but I have a few necklaces! Anything that has to do with the beach / ocean - I just love.....I am not living in the right place!!! We almost moved to Gulf Shores Alabama about 7 years ago - I guess with Katrina, we were lucky we didn't - but it is sooo beautiful down there!!

Gulf Shores is where I go, that is less than 5 hours from me!!! My uncle used to own 3 restaurants there. I have been going since I was a kid, and I am 52. I hate how it is so bulit up, when we were young it was just small quaint little house on the beach, no condos, just a few tiny motels, no hotels. I wish it was still that way....
Katrina didnt hurt Gulf Shores, bu Ivan hurt it bad a couple of years ago. lots of damage, Pensacola was hurt very badly. in fact, a large number of cities in Alabama were damages badly. Here in Birmingham 280 miles away, we had damage!!!
How in heck do you up in PA know about Gulf Shores?????

I collect kitty and cat figurines. I have a curio filled!! My faves are little porcelain ones that have a REAL teeny tiny bell that rings around there neck. I am a cat lover so seeing the figurines made me go "awe" and I had to start getting them. Now anything with a cat or kitty on it I must have- when I can afford it!! Snow globes, magnets(fixed a metal band in curio corner to attatch) tins, wood.... it is a lot!!
